I thought in extra time they were appalling, hoping for a break away but not at the risk of conceding and happy enough to be defeated by penalties.  Diving about, wasting time.  Hate the football they churn out particularly as they can be so exciting when they want to be

I missed the word overall in front of running.
My post was in support of Mel Morris who according to many document leaks on the internet had very serious health issues over the past 12 months including in one document which was headed as an "offer for sale memorandum"  which contained the statement that he was suffering from cancer earlier last year and undergoing treatment, I therefore get angry and take exception to assertions that he has gone missing has lost interest and is lacking in communication with a very hostile subset of supporters, all of whom appear to pile on without quoting anything other than their opinions which invariably are suppositions about conjecture.
    Give the guy a break.

I shouldn't get wound up but just reading the DT article about Simon Jordan who, in true Jordan style says if we breach FFP and get a points penalty " Derby will be toast, done".  What the chuff's that supposed to mean.  All these throw away comments do my head in.

My take on the Pearce interview is that it’s some Clarity and Communication from the club on the current situation, while it was never going to provide all answers everyone has been craving for at least something. The positives I took from it:
We are looking to rebuild bridges with the EFL and other member clubs - this is vital and I’m pleased we’re taking the conciliatory approach. Whether EFL are right or wrong (and I think they are wrong and their treatment of us has been despicable) they are the governing body, they will get their way and they are royally screwing us over. We’ve defended our position to the end and have been justified in doing so, now is the time to work with them and move on.
Players have all be paid including wage deferrals being refunded to them. All that speculation about Mel withdrawing funding and plunging us into admin has been unfounded  - the only time he missed a payment was when he expected a takeover to go through.
People can now shut up about Henry Gabay, the only external debt we have is to MSD
The strong relationship with Rooney and the fact he is informed on everything and in support. I don’t think Wayne is necessarily the right man (although I’m prepared to back him and want him to succeed) but if he walks away it indicates there are problems.
Clearly they can’t reveal takeover stuff but it’s positive discussions are progressing.
The only negative is the squad position, and yes that’s important. As it stands with what we have it would be a struggle to survive as we simply don’t have the depth of squad. However it’s a long summer and this can be addressed, and with a vastly reduced wage bill we have an opportunity to build and shape a squad.
The biggest issue for this club right now is not getting the takeover sorted. It’s July 19th announcements happening  and a return full capacity stadiums and venues again. This will provide much needed revenue as we can get our commercial operation up and running. If we even get 60-75% of our normal revenues it will get us towards break even and reduce what Mel has to put in. This will enable us to at least be able to field a squad to compete in the league and avoid relegation. If the takeover then happens with wriggle room due to the reduced wages and hopefully that £30m extra FFP profit we might be able to invest more to compete at the sharp end of the league again.

Next few months and possibly next season will be tough but I genuinely think this is the start point of something positive, and we need positivity around the club again if only to shut up some of the doomsters who post on here

I get the pessimism but c'mon, chin up, we haven't even kicked a ball yet.  Now more than ever the club, and in particular the players need our support and voice.  I don't expect autos, play-offs even but I really do think things will come good.  Until I see a big red R next to us in the table I will have faith.

Maybe not a great comparison, so apologies, but when I look at how the EFL has conducted itself over the last few years and in particular with Derby they remind me of FIFA, or in particular Sepp Blatter.  Someone who orchestrated things to his benefit.  For decades he abused his position and it took years for him to finally be called out, eventually being done for a "breach of rules concerning duty of loyalty, conflicts of interest and offering or accepting gifts or other benefits". I think his buddy Valcke did similar. I also think this was the tip of the iceberg and many officials go away scot-free.  Now I'm not saying the EFL are doing exactly the same, but in principle, from everything I see, they're abusing their power, they're showing zero duty of loyalty to their members and appear to be on some sort of personal crusade to destroy one of the league's member clubs, for not making absolutely clear in their accounting notes what they had done, despite what they had done having been sanctioned by the EFL themselves so in theory they should have known what they were looking at in the first place.
Mel instigated a challenge to their power by seeking to unite all 72 clubs in asking the EFL to address a view that they weren't representing their clubs in the best way.  He also challenged the money flow for TV rights, again with the view this wasn't in the best interests of the member clubs. I believe that this, more than anything else totally riled the pompous buffoons at the EFL, who, like Blatter no doubt live a great lifestyle and don't want their power challenged to the extent they've made it a personal goal to see Mel, and unfortunately Derby destroyed. The irony is Mel was probably demonstrating the values the EFL should be following, but aren't.  Love him or hate him I do believe he's always had the best interests of this club at heart.
If we can sell, meaning Mel moves off the scene, they maybe, just maybe, some status quo will be achieved and we can go back to focusing on playing football, re-building this club, making news for what we do on the pitch, not off it, and maybe one day, in the not too distant future, getting back into the PL.

I like the Tomori analogy, spot on.  Mengi seemed to get better and better each game, as he adjusted to a new level of football.  I think he could end up being a great addition and be a name we're regularly calling out in the same way we did with Tomori. We do however need to give him a bit of leeway and accept he's bound to make mistakes as he learns and improves.
