I like the Tomori analogy, spot on.  Mengi seemed to get better and better each game, as he adjusted to a new level of football.  I think he could end up being a great addition and be a name we're regularly calling out in the same way we did with Tomori. We do however need to give him a bit of leeway and accept he's bound to make mistakes as he learns and improves.

I suspect there is already a plan and this is a bit of a tick box but I did it anyway.  Possibly akin to advertising a job externally, because HR says you have to, whilst knowing already you're going to fill it internally with Billy Bob from Accounts. But maybe I'm just cynical in my old age.

Well worded and comes across much more informatively than your original post that I must admit had my eyebrows rising all of their own accord.  I get you, I really do.  I don't support the Premier League players either (maybe Mount a bit as he was with us) but I do support the England national team as I'm English; it has nothing to do with following the masses or not being an individual.  Those who know me well know me as someone who never follows the herd unless I decide I want to and not because someone thinks I should.  I've alienated myself in the past because of this but that's a rule I've lived by since I was a kid.
Do I like the attitude of a large number of England supporters? No.  Years of arrogance and aggressiveness remain and will take quite some time yet to disappear.  Am I happy to see one of the other home nations fail? If it's to our benefit, then yeah.  If it's Wales, Scotland etc against someone else, and we're not impacted, then yeah, I'd want them to do well since, being English I am part of the UK.  I have a Scottish friend who I asked if they'd support England since the bonnie Scots were out.  Simple answer No. But then I also have a Welsh friend who I asked the same question to, and he answered Absolutely.  And there's the root of the problem with the home nations.  But that feeling of, dare I say hatred, against England goes back 100s of years and will take probably the same again to change.  One of my other best mates hates football. Really, really hates it - calls all players overpaid, pre Madonna pu55ies.  He is rugby through and through.  BUT he is also English and will be watching the final as "Well it's England isn't it, although I hate football, we're in a major final and I want to see England win". To many this will be a once in a lifetime experience.
And as for being a Derby supporter, well I'm not even from Derby, I'm over 100 miles away.  Pretty sure if I joined many on here for a beer in the pub I'd stand out like a sore thumb due to my southern accent.  But I love this club, have supported it for nigh on 45 years, and regardless of whether we're Championship, League 1 or Premier League, I will continue to support it as it's my team, as England also is my team.
Please do enjoy the game Sunday, raise a beer to the masses when (not if!) we win then by all means turn off the TV and read a book. I for one will be watching the TV, hopefully reliving every moment and just for a while forgetting about the utterly shi7 last 18 months I've personally had before I go back to the reality of work on Monday.  ?

Done.. Struggled with the fan involvement at board level. Bit of a minefield that as we have seen here.. How do you appoint that group?
Rams Trust, got absolutely mullered when they wrote to the club. Would it make things more devise? I dunno.. We've already seen having a fan on the board is disaster.
The devil is always in the detail on these things.

Just seen the following on a FB thread under a Derbyshire Live post:
"While I don’t doubt that the EFL will seek to impose a points deduction if Derby’s accumulated losses in the revised accounts for the three year period exceed £39m, they’d be legally ‘courageous’ (in the Sir Humphrey Appleby sense of the term) to do so.
The EFL approved Derby’s accounts for each of those three years and the player amortisation policy was expressly called out.
The legal principle of estoppel would, therefore, seem to apply, especially as it’s readily surmised that Derby’s financial actions in the second and third years were discretionary and predicated on the EFL’s acceptance of the prior years’ accounts.
If, for instance, Derby’s accumulated losses in the first and second years were (say) £30m, the club could easily argue they could have curtailed third year expenses to keep that year’s loss below £9m.
Unless the EFL wants to claim that that Derby procured their approval of those accounts via material misrepresentation (given they apparently accepted the accounts unconditionally), one would think an injunction against a penalty for a retrospective breach of FFP would succeed.
The EFL may think they’re above the law but they’re not".
Anyone one here with more legal nous than me (that's almost everyone then) comment on this? Tosh, or does it hold any credence?

It was a penalty. Soft I agree, but he was touched - like it or not it's the modern game.  Could argue Kane should have had one too.
Anyway, I don't care.  After all the bad luck we've had over the years, (including the so-called Hand of God goal) it's about time we had something go our way.  All the negative comments make me laugh.  Everyone hates us - so be it.  We have a genuinely good side right now who are in the final on merit.  Southgate's played a system designed to not lose, and it's worked.
One more game, that's all we need. Italy will be a different proposition, but we have the players to win this.  They're great defensively (almost as old as our potential defence for the coming season) but not that quick - get Sterling, Saka, Sancho, Foden or Grealish running at them and I think we'll tear 'em up.
Kudos Denmark who are no mugs.  And a big nod to Schmeichel - great keeper, kept his side in it several times.  Probably should have held Kane's poor penalty (oh well!).
    Roll on Sunday - can't wait ?

The DC2 findings are worth a read.  The DC are clear in that they do not expect the EFL to sign off the accounts.  They rely on accounting standards, auditors and the honesty of all the clubs.  They are not above the law because ultimately the club will seek legal redress and this maybe the reason they didn’t send this to LAP I guess.  However, all the clubs need to follow the rules which apply to all of them.  I have always felt that if retrospective points relegated us we would attempt an injunction to stop the league season commencing, maybe that is fanciful?  The only issue left now is will we be penalised points in 21/2 of course
