According to the Sky website they've chosen Sunderland v Millwall for 12:30 on Dec 3rd

I thought the Championship games were suspended during the World Cup ?

Strange as the BBC sport fixtures have that game down as being on the 3rd but postponed, but the championship doesn't resume until the 10th

Can clubs rearrange games in the break if they know they don't have anyone going to Qatar?

  2. Morecombe - League One

Torquay - FA Cup Round 1

Liverpool - Carabao Cup Round 3

    MK Dons - League One

    Portsmouth - League One

What will Warne do with the next 5?

I think its fair to assume Torquay will be as weak as we can put out.

It will be interesting to see what he does with Liverpool and MK Dons, and how much he wants to keep players fresh for the league.

Will/should a sold out away end at Anfield make him go stronger than he would ideally like to?

He's certainly going to find out a lot about his whole squad this month on and off the pitch.

Think he might go with Thompson, with Sibbo being held back as an attacking option off the bench.

Osula should be made to watch a video of the game to show him the effort required up front to get a starting berth.

He looked very resigned to a future on the bench, given McGoldrick and Collins’ performances, but he had an excellent opportunity against a woeful Bristol defence, to show how good he can be.

He should be resigned to a future on the bench because of a 19 min sub appearance? Ok then

Went really quick from ‘we’re not here to shout at the lads we’re here to help them’ to ‘tonight wasn’t good enough, I’ve told the lads my phones on all night if they want to come back to me’

    which is a worry ?

Ask any parent, why do they dish out bollockings to their kids?

When reasonable discussions haven't worked...Its normally a last resort to try and make them understand they did something wrong and to help them do it better next time.

...and I think it's quite the opposite, with it being made out to be far worse than it was, but there you go.

It's almost like people are surprised that the quality of the play from us would start to wane after a few games of a fairly robust schedule, and then conveniently ignoring the circumstances surrounding the buildup to our season, make up of the squad, fitness levels smaller clubs raising their game against us, all of that.

They'd rather have a fall guy.

You can blame it on Rosenior's style if you like, but it was always going to happen just as the initial bout of energy seen under Warne has fallen away to some equally poor (some would say even worse) performances.

I think an interesting question might be...

If Rosenior did the recruitment, but Warne took over the team from the first game of the season, where would we be?

Probably exactly where we are now but having got there a different way.

You can argue the case between the 2 managers but the players just haven't been up to scratch, you can list plenty of them but the biggest disappointment so far for me is the contribution from Bird and Hourihanne. The latter has chipped in with goals but generally in open play they've both been really poor.

When the 10 signings were announced optimism was high, but the players just haven't been as good as we thought they we going to be.

I can't get my head around why LR didn't get more time. I thought we were playing good, entertaining football and just needed to be a bit more clinical in the box.

That said, Liam has gone and we have Paul Warne. I like him, he's engaging and charismatic and that must bring some energy into the dressing room.

I do feel we have a team of Championship players who are now being asked to play league one football. The players we have are skilful and that skill is not being utilised.

If you are going to play "lump-the-ball-up" football you have to categorically win the 50-50 and second balls. To win the 50-50 and second balls you need big, physical, intimidating players, not the quick footed, agile, skilful players.

All good teams play to their strengths - I don't think we are doing that under PW.

    Really?

Oxford was ok, not great but got over the line

    Charlton played well, deserved more

    Barnsley first half, good

Barnsley second half, sat back, terrible

    Shrewsbury and Fleetwood away, terrible

Peterborough - saved by red card and last min goals, poor performance

Plymouth, deserved to lose. deserved to be 3-2 down at half time not 2-0 up

Lincoln, the worst of them all, goodbye Rosenior

  7. Certainly not the right balance of age or fitness no. To many under 20s or over 30s, nothing in between.

With injuries and form I think we're in for a very inconsistent few months until Warne can make some additions where he sees fit.

A late run into the play offs is about as much as we can hope for now with this group and Warnes January additions.

With the embargo still active, I'm not sure the best thing would be to get promoted this season anyway, it would need another big haul in the summer to compete in the championship with this group.

  8. Rosenior didn't really play out from the back. We played it across the back a few times, looked panicked then went long and often straight out of play, the worst of that being at Lincoln

I think now Rosenior has gone people are remembering his football more fondly than they should. It was ok for Oxford, Charlton and the first 45 v Barnsley, after that it started to decline and never recovered. The only exception to that that I can think of was West Brom at home in the cup, that was a good performance.

From what I can tell so far Warne wants us to try and get it into the wide CB then down the flanks quickly to the wing backs or up into the striker.

Ultimately, both weren't or haven't been good enough. Only Warne has chance to change that now

I will add, the officials have been nothing short of shocking and haven't helped either of them

  9. Cheltenham at home, any news on when it might be?

I'm wondering if Rosenior wanted it in December but now Warne wants this after January when he (hopefully) has some of his own additions to the squad

When you say you don't think automatic promotion is likely now that infers at the start of the season you did think it was possible.

What did you base this opinion on and what's changed for you to revise it?

I’m not sure really, I hadn’t really thought about what made me think it was possible.

I guess it started with the signings, the opening day win against Oxford, the performance at Charlton. The opening few home results, Barnsley and Peterborough wins.

Im not saying it’s out the question I think now i’m just mentally preparing for it not to happen, trying not to get the hopes up. What’s changed is I didn’t expect Clowes to change the manager, we’ve lose twice at home when winning and been so poor away up until Cambridge. Plymouth and Ipswich look really decent sides.

I now feel like Warne is playing catch up mainly from the poor away form and the games in hand which makes some of the upcoming games like Ipswich and Portsmouth away much bigger for us than them.

I’m in the Warne over Rosenior camp, but it could take time for that to come to fruition.

  11. What is the current state of play on the season's aspirations?

Hopefully we can can adapt to how Warne wants us to play in the coming months and we start to go on some 4 or 5 game winning runs in the second half of the season, I would take that if we can see progression and consistency in performances.

Is an automatic promotion push still likely? Unfortunately I don't see it now. We're 13 points off the top 2 with a couple of games in hand but we haven't played any of the current top 8 away from home yet. We'd have to go on a Jim Smith style run now to get close but I fear come 5pm after Portsmouth away the gap may be even wider.

I see the Play Offs now as a realistic target and even that is not a nailed on certainty.

After Saturday it also got me thinking, is this season right for us to go up? Would an extra season building be more beneficial? There's probably a reason it normally takes us 2 or 3 seasons to get out of this division, this time may be no different.

Normal allocation for Liverpool is about 3,000 but we should get more than that for a cup game.

MK Dons will be £24 for adults and £18 concessions. Again, normal allocation is about 3,000 but this can be extended when required. Sheffield Wednesday had an allocation of 6,548 at the start of the season.

£18 concession? if that's as low as it goes I wont be paying that x 2

£60 for MK Dons a few days after Liverpool and a week before Portsmouth will be a no from us unfortunately
