Just back from the match and gotta say that apart from the final few mins it was pretty disappointing, with goal scoring is becoming a real concern.
That said, they stuck at it and pulled it out of the fire at the end *and* if you can win when you're playing badly, thats a good sign ?
I'm still hoping we have a strong end to the transfer window as we're still short 3-4 players.  If we do, it will make the league table (which is already looking pretty good despite us not hitting top gear yet) look far better than it already does.
I was concerned that given the late pre-season and time needed to gel, we'd be playing catchup after half a dozen games but we've consistently picked up points and played some good football at times.  If a Premier League team wants to loan out a player to a team that plays quality football and will be in the mix at the end of the season, we must surely be in pole position.

This. You can't close the economy down for two years, pay people not to work, and not have consequences. And understandably people got used to not working and being given money, and rather enjoyed it. We have a cost of lockdown crisis that has translated into a cost of living crisis, yet people have been conditioned to think the solution is simply to hand out more free money. No wonder inflation is going through the roof. We've entered a situation where, if it's raining in Manchester, the media and all commentators are bemoaning why the government isn't buying everyone umbrellas. Just stop it.
We had to lockdown when Covid happened. But once we had the vaccines and we'd offered them to the vulnerable population (those over 65 and those with serious health conditions) that needed to be the end of it. It should have been about personal evaluation of risk from then on, and going back to work, not closing the schools and so on. We built all these Nightingale hospitals and never used them. Those with Covid should have been moved there for specialist treatment while the regular hospitals were kept open for the ongoing treatment of more important illnesses and diseases. Now we have to start to learn to think for ourselves all over again and make our own decisions, rather than acting like sheep and expecting to be fed.

George Thorne has revealed how he has had "brief conversations" about a return to Derby County in a coaching capacity.
"I've got to do specific qualifications in order to meet the requirements because it's a category one academy. Once I've got those sorted, I've had brief conversations with the club and hopefully, it's something we can do."

Haven't looked at the stats and I'd have to watch it back again but it felt like we created some really good chances, whereas the majority of WBAs were half chances after we'd messed up playing out from the back.

He could have caught the ball from the last corner of the match, didn't look under much pressure - guess he thought he wanted to make another save instead ?
He had a good night tbh and a decent season so far.  His positioning and shot stopping are pretty good, but lacks confidence commanding his area and high balls into the box imho.  Hes grown on me since I first saw him in preseason.

Wildsmith   7 - Another clean sheet, couple of decent stops.
Knight   7 - Full of running, much happier to see him in midfield.
Oduroh   7 - Better than his run out against Mansfield against better opposition.
Forsyth   7 -  Capt for the night, didn't really put a foot wrong.
Roberts   7 - Good performance, worked hard for the team.
Rooney   7 -  Looks a very good prospect in defence and midfield. Cut price Bielik!
Smith   6 - Better from him, tired as match went on.
Thompson   6 - Better second half after nervy start.
Dobbin   7 - Took some knocks from WBA as he did at the weekend, pace scares opposition, if he finds an end product he'll be a star!
McGoldrick   7 - Still getting up to speed but showed what he will offer.
Sibley   8  - Threatened throughout the match, could have had a couple.
    SUBS:
Hourihane   6 - Neat and tidy, but we could have done with more.
Barkhuizen   6 - Didn't really impact the game when he came on.
Collins   6 - Chased balls, relieved a bit of pressure, no real opportunities
Bird   6 - Little run out to help close out the match
Competent performance, never really looked in trouble.  Would have been nice to score more than one but hopefully saved a few for the weekend.  No one played badly, Sibley edged MoM with his goal and attacking threat but very pleased with Rooney - if he keeps progressing we could have a good player there.  Not sure about the standard of reffing I've seen this season, I know its a mans game (thanks Souness ?) but some of the tackles, especially on Dobbin are a bit OTT.

You need to have the original "ram pack" rubber bands for it to be worth anything.?
For you kiddies out there it strapped the 8k ram block into the zx81! Hitech indeed.

Wildsmith   6 - quiet game, decent shot stopping, nervy corners
Knight   7 - yet another good game, plenty forward runs, could have scored
    Stearman   7 - Curtis who?
Cashin   7 - another solid performance
Forsyth   7 - got forward, delivered some excellent crosses
Bird   6 - think I give him 6 every week. Does his job but needs to do more
Hourihane   7 - busy, got in good positions, pity he couldnt bury a 30 yarder
Mendez-Laing   8 - had a dip last time out, looked a real threat again vs Fleetwood
Barkhuizen   6 - got talent when hes on it but quiet and ineffective for long periods
Collins   6 - puts himself about, probably could lurk nearer the 6yd box more, great turn and shot top corner save by keeper
Dobbin   7 - fast n furious!  Gonna be a threat now hes up to speed
    SUBS:
Sibley   7 - unfortunately getting tagged as a super sub, made an impact again when he came on
McGoldrick   6 - expecting more, hopefully will come with more game time
How did we not win this?  Back to front we're looking really solid, a couple of extra goals recently and we could have easily been 3rd on goal difference.  MOre attacking line up and it showed, just need the breaks now.  And a good end to the transfer window...

Well its not just about scoring goals.  We have the joint best defence along with Ipswich atm ?
Lets remember where we were a few weeks ago before David Clowes stepped in and saved us from oblivion.  A lot of pundits had Ipswich and Sheff Weds down as favourites for promotion this season, they have been in League One for a few seasons now and their starting point for rebuilding was far better than ours.
I agree its frustrating not to score and win games we dominate but other than scoring goals there is a lot to be pleased about watching us play.  You can see the team has progressed and is starting to gel nicely since the opening day, we just desperately need to start scoring.
I'm still hoping a couple of signings will come and add some firepower - if they do, we still have a helluva chance of getting out of the division at the first attempt.  If not, and its mid-table this year, we've laid the groundwork for next season.
