They've got no chance I'm sick of all this unlucky Wycombe nonsense. They were dreadful bar a handful of games at the end of the season. Never higher than 21st in the league, didn't win until the 9th game of the season. They didn't start playing until they were all bar down because their goal difference meant they were never going to overhaul us. Even if we'd lost to Sheffield Wednesday in the last game of the season they wouldn't have stayed up, there was no scenario on the last day of the season where they could survive.

He has zero to do with the issues we now find ourselves in, but he has acted with utter class.
He's had no money and is playing a number of players he knows aren't good enough (at least at the moment) without a word of complaint publicly.
He's just got on with his job and tried to get this team playing decent football with one hand tied behind his back, wearing lead boots and being made to wear a balaclava the wrong way around.
And then he hears about going into administration on TV like the rest of us and rather than whining or walking out he gets on with his job.
I really like what I'm seeing, especially when you consider he's in his first year of management and the second youngest boss in the entire football league.
He should have control of this team if/when he has money to spend, or at the very least until the end of this season.
If he does walk or get pushed, I for one will be bitterly disappointed.

TheTinMan reacted to BramcoteRam84 in Mel Morris interview on Radio Derby 1pm
I listened to the interview. I think Ed did an ok job, easy for us to stand back and say he didn’t ask that or he didn’t ask this. Not all the questions we wanted answering were answered but they were never going to be.
Mel made some extremely valid points. The football financial model is broken. It isn’t a level playing field. Only 2 non-parachute payment clubs have secured promotion without breaking P&S. Parachute payment clubs are insulated to Covid, clubs recently promoted have a cost base that can cope and will make equal/more revenue from additional TV money that balances out loss of gate revenues, the non parachute funded clubs with bigger attendances who have been showing ambition and pushing the boundaries of P&S just to try and compete with the parachute funded clubs were always going to be hit harder by Covid. Without Covid we wouldn’t be going into administration. All those points cannot be argued. We were starting to cut our cloth accordingly with Cocu but then Covid pulled the rug out from under us. It can’t be denied it’s a fact.
His comments about the inconsistencies and punitive nature of the EFL were also interesting. The defence of our amortisation policy was fierce and in my opinion completely valid. Its a disgrace we’re in the dock over this - anyone who says otherwise is swallowing the guff that the EFL are clubs pushing them on this are leaking out to the national press to build this ridiculous idea we are cheats.  The EFL are not fit for purpose and an independent regulator is required.
Mel even admitted he gambled and failed but that’s the only way to compete season after season against parachute funded clubs, that is no different to other owners of clubs who avoided P&S issues through being fortunate enough to be promoted.
But the interview didn’t cover/push the fact he gambled but wouldn’t stand behind his debts and plunged us into administration up to the eyeballs in debt (unless we’re taking from today he no longer has the means), glossed over his mismanagement in particular wages, joiners gate etc.

He also seems to think administration will be the miracle cure that gets us a new buyer to take us forward, with £60m debt majority of which won’t be wiped through the process and will need servicing at some point. Until we get a buyer, who will be funding the £1-£1.5m Mel has been funding up to now, how will we pay players? Will it just be more points deductions for not paying players or could it be worse, at what point will the club be forced to liquidate and how quickly could that arise - could it be before Jan as we can’t sell any players until then, so will we need to sell moor farm to get us through (given Mel still has PP for the moment although he has said he will offer that up to the new buyer as part of this deal). None of these questions have been answered and frankly I’m not bothered about all the other points he made, it’s already done, cannot change it, I want to know how this club can survive until January now he has taken this decision to put us in administration and threaten the club’s existence.
Im pleased he did the interview, I think he tried his best I think he cares about the club but he will always be remembered as the owner who nearly killed the club, let’s hope he’s not remembered and the owner who killed it.

Only just listened as been at work today and towards the end when talking about the stadium, ownership and ?any potential 'sale' to any investor I had to 'laugh' at Ed's question "and who's valuation will you have on the stadium, will it be yours or other owners?"

Think a lot of people are readjusting their views today. Can we confess in one safe place??
I kinda said all along Mel was spending unnecessarily and at inflated prices but that's not to say I was complaining.
However, got to hold my hands up and say Rooney has acted with a lot of class today. Said all the right things....for him to find out via Sky is an absolute disgrace.

Genuine football fans realise what this means to ordinary people and it brings a certain unity. Leeds fans seem very pleased by the whole thing. I draw solace from the fact that that night still hurts them and it always will. You would have thought they would know better having had local people lose their livelihoods when it happened to them but obviously not.

This hurts more because this isn't some dodgy, secretive ownership from a foreign country putting the club into administration, it's a local man. A man who i thought had the best interests in the club at heart. We all make mistakes, this is a huge mess. We're all human. What angers me more is a local Derby man has taken zero responsibility for this mess. Zero. Blaming COVID, blaming the EFL which is a valid argument. But to not have the integrity to accept ultimate responsibility for the financial mess of the club is a disgrace. He gambled and failed. Have the guts to stand up and apologise to the supporters tomorrow or next week. Supporters who have backed this man through thick and thin. We trusted you Mel. We trusted you. And you've not had the decency to communicate clearly to the fan base, now we're left in an unknown situation where worse case scenario there will be no more Derby County.
    Shame on you.

So much for his promises to keep the club going until we found a buyer. The club statement is a disgrace by the way. Still trying to blame covid, efl... anything but owning up to their own mistakes. As if we were the only club covid affected.

I dont think liquidation will happen at all
DCFC has had low debts but its has been going up since Covid whereas the company that owns DCFC has £60m debt to Mel personally
I think Mel will try to clear the debt as much as possible on the club(going to administration) and move forward trying to secure the sale of the holding club for a reduced fee, unless he is arrogant enough to want his full investment back
However as I said before we aren't an appealing prospect, there has been a huge lack of transparency with the club and there has been reluctancy to show anything.
We dont know who owns the club and whether a relegation, would mean a reduced rental fee
We dont know the state of the training ground, there is said to be a loan taken out against it and land charge on this or the stadium, I would say our training ground and academy, aren't as good as made out by people in Derby, we are one or two levels behind the top PL academies(Tottenham, Chelsea, Man City and etc.) and below the established academies(Southampton, Fulham and etc.)
This is why we are struggling to shift the club. Potential investors are finding this stuff out deep in to the process rather than it be readily available
I said this would happen in March, despite people saying otherwise.
IMO, the biggest failure was not doing this and the points deduction last season, we could have started a fresh last season and moved forward with a clean slate. Mel has too many smoke and mirrors, that its hurting the club and unfair to the fans

I was really annoyed last night when the news broke. I was close to posting something about Mel that would have restulted in a warning.
However this morning I'm more calmer. I'm getting too old, I've lost interest in football over the last couple of years and starting to emotionally detach myself. I'm losing the love for the game in general.
The Premier League is ruining football with the money. Grass roots kids football is political with coaches & parents thinking its the champions league final when they don't even keep scores at that age. Then the farce that is Mel Morris' time in charge.
I feel sorry for the people who rely on the club for a living. I feel sorry for all the die hards who its more than a club. I feel sorry for all the kids that support us who won't have witnessed any good times & who's interest in football might be lost.
Football really isnt that fun anymore

Just a reminder we scored 36 goals in 46 games last season. We've lost Waghorn from that attack and signed nobody from an attacking point of view. I'd love to know where people are getting this optimism that we're suddenly going to start winning games or that the first 11 is even half decent.

TheTinMan got a reaction from jimtastic56 in v Huddersfield (H) Match Thread
Whichever way these signings pan out we are massively up against it next weekend. Huddersfield have actually played a competitive game today whereas we've either fielded a very inexperienced side today which could be all we have next weekend or alternatively we make signings but they've have limited opportunities to play together in a game. I'd have rather we'd be playing one of the big guns on paper first up as at least then we could brace ourselves for what is probably coming. Worst case scenario here, we lose badly to Huddersfield we'd then be looking at playing a Salford side who've already beaten us in pre-season in a cup game, games after that against the promoted sides Hull and Peterborough. I know none of us probably expect much this season but with games against Gibson's Boro and then Forest to round off August we could all be wishing the season would end pronto by then.
