Lest we forget the legendary Wardrobe played for England U-19s but later decided that he would much rather turn down the chance of playing up front for the Three Lions in favour of a few Scottish caps. A tough decision for him!

See - it’s deluded thinking like this that got you into this mess in the first place, turning many neutrals off from your plight.

Genuinely, liquidation. I’d rather start again than have that baldie allowed anywhere near Derby. At least there’d be a team I can be proud of, even if we were in the National League.

I can't believe he's getting stick over this move. 
He's in the last couple of months under contract, to a club that can offer no guarantee of existing in a few months time, never mind being in a position to offer him an extended contract!
If reports are to believed, he's found himself a new club, picked up a €1m signing on fee, and €1.25 million in wages for the next 5 years.
We can't offer him anything, what would you do in that situation?

I'm actually really pleased for Festy, this is a great move at a critical point in his career. He's come in and done everything he can for us, turned down a move in Jan to help our fight for survival and has bagged a moved abroad (or to Watford via abroad, so at least he'll get to stay in the Championship as things stand).
No way could we realistically expect him, or indeed anyone else out of contract, just to sit and wait to see how this chaos (and I'm being polite) pans out as the weeks and months roll by. They've got their careers and lives to think about.
So thanks Festy, you've come in and done a great job in stupid circumstances. Good luck to you and I'm glad to see a Derby product stepping up another level. Don't worry about us, we'll survive. Perhaps.

I absolutely refuse to accept that Dawkins was a bad signing.  He was very, very good at doing the actual job he was in the team for (keeping the ball, moving it quickly, linking play) while maybe not great at doing the job people in the stands wanted him doing (bombing up the wing and crossing the ball).  He absolutely suited the way we played and he cost us relatively little. He's a textbook good signing.  (And I'm putting aside the fact he wasn't signed while Mel was sole owner...)
Far worse for me are the likes of Malone, Butterfield, Johnson, Vydra, Anya, Blackman, Waghorn, Shackell.  All signed for stupid fees, on stupid wages, and all incapable of doing the job they were signed for.  We got lucky with a few of them (like Vydra), and ended up with them benefitting from completely changing the way we played, but they were all still bad signings IMO.

Dawkins was definitely not mediocre. 
And didn’t we get him on a free?

Dawkins was decent on a low fee/wage. 
Crazy to put him on a list with Josefzoon, Anya and Blackman.
