He’ll score goals and goals will help us get promoted.

for that reason it’s a yes from me

As has been said on here already. I’d take 46 x 1-0 wins and SB, Nels and Cash fighting it out for POTY. Sexy football can wait for the Championship in 24/25.

If he is in the frame for us I doubt he'd need to move house - his last two permanent clubs have been Huddersfield and Sheff Weds so chances are he lives somewhere in that general area - probably an hour, maybe a 90 mins drive to Moor Farm - A lot of footballers commute further than that every day for work

Betty Swollocks reacted to Archied in Martyn Waghorn - signed a 1-year deal
Waghorn could sign on small wages , he could sign pay as you play ,it’s clear he’s he’s a free not on massive money , if he wants to pull on a rams shirt and warne thinks he can help towards promotion then I’m happy for him to sign and I actually think he could do a decent job in div one in a warne team if fit and injury free , for me sign him and look for the best number 10 attacking mid with flair we can find and we look very decent

If Rhodes costs too much - give Waggy a short term deal. He can play behind the striker to add some bite if we need it away from PP.

My thoughts exactly-knows the club, works hard and can cover 2/3 positions.Good squad player, especially at this level. We all know what he can't do but as Brian Clough used to say about his signings," I've signed him for what he can do!"

And come to think of it the last Luton pensioner to come here didn’t do a bad job did he … No 33 what a rock.

I know Saturday was fun and we took our chances, the bounce was with us but I am really looking forward to this season. There is something in the air. Is it because we are clean slate after all the turmoil or is it because I saw a team gelling in to a unit ? … or maybe it’s just blind wishful thinking ?

11 of McGoldrick`s goals came in 4 games. That`s not to underestimate his exploits, but for all his goals, they didn`t actually win us that many points. Plus, I felt, that in the last 3 or 4 months of the season we became too much of a one man team. Our entre system of play had to revolve around him. This, in turn, made us quite easy to play against.
We need more variety this season and the signings so far suggest that we will get it.

If the club were to sign Rhodes - to give us three strikers in him, Collins and Washington - it would be very rare (if ever) that all three are on the pitch at the same time. What is more likely (given a two up top formation) is that any two of those three are on the pitch for virtually every minute of league football next season. That equates to 8,280 minutes of match time between them.
If the trio contributed one goal between them for every 200 minutes of match time played, that equates to 41 league goals over the season - that's eight more than McGoldrick and Collins achieved last season.
Point of this is that instead of getting hooked up on the taste of the individual ingredients, lets concentrate on the taste of the cake... and let the coaching team get on and bake it!

It’s still the same argument though. We were over-reliant on McGoldrick’s goals, that’s the fact. What we need is a goal threat from across the squad. Ideally having a main goal threat grabbing 20 goals or more AND others chipping in with double figures.
Using a different system this season, with players supposedly better suited to the positions, and a squad that’s been drilled over the pre-season as to how the staff want them to play should lead to more goals being created and scored across the side….should 😬🤞

I know right? Weve only signed the captain of a championship promotion winning side, a former League two player of the year (only one season ago) a former League one team of the year full back, a championship centre half with over 300 games experience and championship striker with international experience .
Fecking awful that for League One, diabolical!! 🙄🙄🙄

He’s tall, direct and quick. Wales fans seem to like him well enough. I genuinely can’t remember him in the slightest, never heard of him before yesterday, but seems to be a player who may have something but hasn’t put it together. Every signing we make is going to have some underwhelming undertones to his career to date - it’s difficult to sign a player in the third division and that not be the case. We just have to give them the opportunity to prove us wrong.

Shame. Think he's already a very good player who will get better. Presumably he knows this, which is why he wants to play at a higher level.
This is one reason I don't like it when people say 'i don't mind missing out on promotion, we weren't ready, gives us no time time to plan' etc etc. If you miss out on promotion it makes it much harder to keep and attract good young players.

It's frustrating, but at the same time we're in League One so any old scrubber who can cut out a living in the Championship can look like a serious player in this division. I'm pretty even the much maligned Scott Malone could look semi-competent at this level. When you consider McGoldrick looked like Messi and Forsyth looked like John Terry at times last season, so probably not worth fretting too much.

There’s always an odd vibe in the transfer window.
Fans say they want change and they want new players in but they are also reluctant when anyone shows interest in our players.
Sometimes you just have to allow the process to take place then cheer whoever is in a Derby shirt come August.

He’s been a monumental player for us. I think those who think he’s average at this level, or at championship level, should probably give their heads a bobble.
