I hope anybody that attends outside the ground pre-game does so with good intentions and only to support and encourage the lads.
This lot of players certainly do not deserve to be applauded and cheered in to the ground, however what choice do we have? Whether you like this squad, or any individual player, it doesn't really matter. This set of players currently represent Derby County Football Club and have one game to ensure they don't take us down. Any negativity or abuse directed before the game will not have any benefit whatsoever. The only thing it does is potentially hand Sheffield Wednesday the psychological upper hand.
We need to stay up no matter what. We don't need to be singing, dancing & hugging if we manage to survive. The players don't need pats on the back if they crawl to a 0-0 draw that sees us safe by the skin of our teeth. It's likely our squad will be vastly different next season regardless of what division we're playing in, and from around 3pm on Saturday the vast majority are players I honestly could not care less about, or who they go on to play for next.
However until then, they mean absolutely everything and may somehow still have the opportunity for some kind of redemption after a season which has been mostly filled with embarrassing, soulless performances.
Give the lads the encouragement to get us over the line. The players shoot themselves in the foot on the pitch often enough, let's not do our bit as fans to help them pull the trigger.

Yeah of course, a Rotherham loss is what we want as the margins are going to be so fine.
I just hope we don’t end up shooting ourselves in the foot if we know at 12:30 on Saturday that a single point will guarantee survival. If we play for a point, I don’t think I’ll be able to watch the last 10 minutes if the scores are still level. I genuinely think that would be more gut-wrenching than any play-off final.

They could beat us 4-0 and still go down. Depending on tomorrow’s result, we might not even need to score a goal to stay up.
No matter how poor we’ve been and how low confidence is, we definitely hold an advantage over Sheff Wed, and possibly over Rotherham too.

To be honest, a Rotherham draw isn’t necessarily the worst thing mentality wise for us.
If Rotherham lose on Tuesday, then it’s back in our hands, with us only needing a point to guarantee safety. A Rotherham draw means we can stay up by getting a point, but it’s not guaranteed. The only way to ensure we stay up is to win.
I would much rather approach a game with an incentive to win, rather than an incentive to not lose. Sheffield Wednesday have no choice. They have to win. If we are playing for a draw, I simply cannot see a way where this group of players can hold off a barrage of pressure for an entire game. We’ll be too terrified to commit too many to scoring ourselves incase it backfires.
At least if Rotherham get a point at Luton, we’ll know we are walking a fine line by not winning. Whether that actually makes any difference, I don’t know. I have very little faith in this squad and management team to pull something out of the bag when it matters.
The best way to stay up no matter what the scenario is to go out to win. Sheffield Wednesday go to pieces when they go behind. We go to pieces when we take the lead... at least it’ll be good for the neutral hey?
