Maybe football loving Starmer should have encouraged his labour controlled council to support their local football team a bit more.
The national recognition a town or city gets, when they've got a league football team is not to be underestimated. It helps commercial activity within the area.

Don't forget Rosenoir, who sacrificed his teams chances of a play off place to let Plymouth win.
Blues fans will think that there is a Derby conspiracy against them.

I think when offered odds of 100/1 for a club who in very recent history have messed up against a poor side when only needing a point is higher than it should be hence skybet offering 66/1 at the same time.

I also think betting can have a number of different functions including the following:
    1) trying to beat the bookies when you notice the odds don’t seem right for something
    2) hoping a silly bet comes in off a small stake (I won £1500 off a £1 bet 10 years ago).
    3) going against what you want to happen if the odds are good to soften the blow.

I’d have been so miserable had derby messed it up absolutely inconsolable for a while.
I would however have had my play off tickets, next years season ticket and my summer holiday paid off for me.
It wouldn’t have made me happy - I’d still rather have the experience we had on Saturday because money can’t buy those feelings but I certainly can’t think of a downside to putting the bet on unless you couldn’t afford to lose the £25 stake. In which case you’ve broken the biggest rule in gambling. Don’t bet what you can’t afford to lose.

Are you not confusing aim with expectation?
I’m sure the “aim” will be to win every game and thereby win the league BUT, the realistic “expectation” (amongst us fans) should probably mid to lower end of the table.
Of course back to back promotions is possible as Ipswich are probably about to prove but it’s very rare and Ipswich have of course been on a slightly different journey to us and I very much doubt they expected to achieve what they have done this time last year.

When you realise that the existing sky package gives the Championship clubs around £9m each, you can see why the clubs vote to sell their rights to Sky.
That figure effectively doubles Derby's income from season tickets and we have among the highest number of season tickets in the league.

The new sky deal for next season means that there will be 824 live games from the EFL alone. This means that for every round of games, there will be 18 games on TV. What days and times are they going to use to accommodate these games, every weekend?
The home fans and especially the away fans are really going to be really inconvenienced.
I suspect that if the disruption is as bad as I fear, next year the following season tickets renewals will be badly hit.

For those who think that these insurance bets are traitorous, how do you feel about supporters who actively damage the team's moral by booing them off the pitch or more commonly slagging individual players off on social media?
Those are 2 things which get to me, I'll criticise a player with my mates but never on social media or forums, where it is likely to harm team moral.

It'll be either a team relegated from the Premier or the losers of the play off final, I'm sure that we got promoted teams when we were in that situation over the years.

Of games that haven't been mentioned yet, I'll mention two : a 4-0 away win at a crumbling Molyneux just after Christmas 1985, when the team really clicked and warmed up a freezing cold afternoon in Cox's Division 3 promotion season; and the 2-1 win at Highbury the season Arsenal won the double and we completed the double over them - a beautiful day and we celebrated the night away in Covent Garden.

Scoring one of the greatest Derby goals of all time in the process....
I have a fondness for the 4-0 win over Southampton in the PL under TBE. 0-0 with about 15 minutes left and then the floodgates opened. Eranio, Baiano, Wanchope and Carsley netting. The football we played in that spell was simply sublime.

Derby 2 Birmingham 2 was a great game, just as we were on the brink of going under.

I remember the atmosphere at Pride Park being immense. Was my son's first Derby game too.

One place to look at, is the Championship clubs which have just been promoted to the Premier, they'll be off loading some players good enough for the Championship but not for the Premier. They will be safer but probably more expensive signings.

I think that DM will be Rooney's position in the long term with flexibility to play in a number of other positions.
