Regardless of the outcome, the EFL have lost any credibility to govern the league and if anything, our case has brought out the need to completely rebuild the hierarchy in charge of our division.
When the EFL originally lost the case against Mel and DCFC, the honorable thing to do by the EFL would have been to accept that loopholes in the rules were exposed and used to our advantage, however that is not down to the club being in the wrong. The accounts were signed off. They have taken zero responsibility for their part in this mess and have taken all steps to cover their failings. I am a critic of how Mel has ran the football club however I will back him against these muppets.
If the EFL had questioned our practices at the time, the club would have needed to accept the consequences for breaking rules. This was authorised by the league. If I was at work and I signed off somebody's documentation, I would be the one responsible for any repercussions if there were problems.
    Not fit for purpose.

You know 64m is spurious.  What is shows is that playing within the FFP rules doesn't guarantee much but if you do get stable every 3 years you get the chances to have a push.  QPR aren't that far from being a promotion candidate with a little more luck they could do it.  Now look, I'm going to have to do some penance for even thinking that?

Not looking for an argument ?. Just saying that losing £64m over 3 years hasn’t got them anywhere but mid-table for the last 3 seasons. They weren’t particularly competitive this season until the last few games. Spent most of the season nearer the bottom than the top. Warburton doing a reasonable job though bringing a few in and through, that look quite decent players. Dickie, Dieng and Chair in particular look decent players ?

Ah, you do have some bias here. If you were a Citeh or Chelski fan you might think different ?
The game was ducked a long, long, time ago. Nothings going to change as the EFL are much more interested with looking in rather than looking out, and the Premier League offer the best protectionism service since the Krays.

Have Rooney pull some strings, lets get the absolute cream of the Man Utd wonderkid academy here on loan for the season.
Aa soon as they're signed up and squad numbered, sack Rooney and get a decent manager in.
Not just a hat stand me.

My hunch is that majority of those clubs that largely stuck with their managers/squads (Burnley under Dyche, Newcastle under Benitez, Norwich under Farke) were comfortably top 6. Again, comes back to continuity - I bet Fulham do better than West Brom & Sheff Utd next year if they stick with Parker.
Stoke/Sunderland both came down with no manager & therefore were both in flux when they came down. They also had very disruptive & highly paid elements in their squads (which absorbed their parachute payments). Rowett had a very tough few months at Stoke but perversely they'd have been better off sticking with him & letting him remould the squad. Instead they went through 3 managers & were indebted to O'Neill saving them.
Same with Grayson at Sunderland - remember them dominating an opening day draw against us but you can't carry as many over-paid & disinterested players as they were doing. Instead they went through 3 managers that season but unlike O'Neill, Coleman couldn't save them.

    100% this.
The sentiment of the OP is totally right but its like complaining about the weather - its totally futile as we have to operate within the system that we find ourselves in. It ain't changing. What is obvious is that in a division artificially skewed by parachute payments, fighting them on a financial basis (particularly with a FFP handicap) is lunacy.
Leeds, Sheff Utd & Norwich (previous time) got up without parachute payments & without exceeding FFP limits - the thing that linked all 3 was a) a well established & consistent pattern of play, b) recruitment totally geared to that style & c) managers with a vision who were backed by their respective owners. All 3 clubs had serious wobbles on their way up but stuck with the project & are now reaping the financial rewards.
Its obviously tough but this isn't a closed shop - we just need to be much much smarter & more strategic in the way we go about our business. We need an edge.

Just to put things into perspective, last season Leeds won automatic promotion without parachute payments and the season before Sheffield United did it.
I agree that promotion is often the relegated clubs to lose but sometimes when they stick with their old manager, or sack their manager and make a bad appointment , it gives other clubs a chance

I like much of this, except the club folding. I don't crave Premier League status. My unpopular opinion is that I wouldn't have minded too much if we went down last season. I think I would have gone to more away games in League 1 for the away day crack, than I would in the Championship. Truth be told during Covid I have missed live music much more than live football.
