This Indian strain is a great concern. Why are Indians over here not getting the Punjab? Tragic case down here, where someone not only lost their naan, but caught the virus themselves whilst caring and is now in an induced korma.

One of many gripes is that yes. Is it not yours? Does it not concern or bother you that they refuse to go via Radio Derby or Steve Nicholson? Promises of calls back yet they never come. Why? Because we know the situation better here in Derby than what Jim White knows in London hence why questions would be asked here as opposed to the nationals where they are not. All controlled by Mel and doing it his way, I call that the easy way....
Well considering we used to meet every couple of months via the supporter charter that would be a great start. A meeting of around 10 or so people. Now if only technology was in place that could still allow the meetings to go ahead. Perhaps I should look at building something that would allow this to happen, I could call it Zoom. Obviously all participants need to be willing of course as opposed to refusing to speak....
In terms of a pandemic - you could say I am fully aware yes considering I work in Travel, the most affected sector.

    HMRC are responsible for:
Income Tax, Corporation Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, Insurance Premium Tax, Stamp, Land and Petroleum Revenue Taxes
    Environmental taxes
climate change and aggregates levy and landfill tax
Value Added Tax (VAT), including import VAT
    Customs duty
    Excise duties
    National Insurance
    Tax Credits
    Child Benefit
Please don’t put this on Twitter, but my understanding is that we still owe duty on the importation of Albentosa, Camara and Jozwiak, and are massively in arrears on child benefit payments for Knight, Sibley, Buchanan and Bird. The biggest debt to HMRC though falls under the Climate Change Levy where Mel Morris has incurred the club significant fees for the over production of worthless hot air.

This is the problem with the modern fan (and please, I'm not having personal pop at any one person) but they swoosh numbers about like confetti without taking a moment to consider them. "£40m is a good price for this club", "we're worth £60m", "it's only £20m of debt for a club our size, that's nothing" "if we want to compete and be taken seriously this is what is needed". This is more money than everyone on this forum (unless Elon Musk is a secret lurking Ram) put together will ever see and we have all just become totally anaesthetised to this 'we need to spend £10m on a striker' mindset.
Whether Mel is a rich man, whether he was but isn't, whether he has triggered his 'that's enough' personal ceiling in terms of how much he was prepared to invest, whether he is pooping blue lights every night coz he knows how much this club is draining from him every week. Whichever it is, the only debt that is good debt is manageable debt and Derby don't have that at the moment, either for Mel or for an investor.
How we get to manageable is either to increase our earnings (unlikely), decrease our spending (action in progress) or reduce our debt. There ain't no other way and Mel can only really help with one of those - the last one. How much Mel wants to write off and say 'well, I got it all from Candy Crush - easy come easy go' is for him to work out, and at the end of the day it might end up being more than he wants. But nobody coming in is going to inherit our situation unless it makes good business sense to them.
And I fear this is going to be a lot longer and lot more painful than many would wish for.

Why should people remember how much cash he put into the club? Am I supposed to be grateful or something that he has spent c200m (not my figure) running the club into the ground? Mel Morris is a businessman bottom line. This ‘he is one of our own’ cobblers doesn't wash with me, and never has. He has had some successful non-Football related investments, and done very well for himself. His investment in the Rams has been an absolute disaster.
12 months ago this article was run: https://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/how-much-mel-morris-worth-4139848. 268th richest individual in the Country. Not personally going to feel sorry for him that he has got his fingers burnt on his Rams investment.

    With ownership comes responsibility.
Now, let me make myself crystal clear, I am not kicking a guy when he’s down, I’ve gone on record posting I’d buy him a pint anytime and I stand by that.
However, he would have been more that happy to have been the recipient of the crowd’s adulation had things gone to plan. He’s not averse to a drop of hero worship, who would be ?
A big problem for Mel is he is owner/custodian of something a lot of people have an emotional investment in, some, a lifetimes commitment. If he was trying to get rid of his executive Lear jet because he fell on hard times, it would be none of our business/of no interest to us.
But this is is a commodity that has been a part of the town, then later, the city for well over a hundred years and this is where the responsibility bit comes in for me. Just because it’s all gone Pete Tong for him does not mean he should leave the club riddled with debt which was accrued on his watch. I believe it’s his duty to make the club as attractive a proposition for a reputable prospective buyer at the lowest outlay possible to him.
There is a saying down here that goes “Pay up and look big” and that’s what he really be thinking about.

That’s unfortunate for him, but let’s consider an analogy.
I buy a classic car, because I know that they’re appreciating rapidly. I buy one that is on the cusp of becoming a collectors item, but isn’t quite there yet. I convince myself it’s a smart investment.
When I get it home and inspect it more thoroughly, it’s a bit more of a wreck than I thought. Nonetheless, I can see a future profit so I start work. Because a lot of the work is outside my experience, I send it to various specialists. By the time we’re done, I’ve spent more than my original purchase price, but that’s OK because I’m convinced that it’s going to become the next sought after classic, and values will go through the roof.
Unfortunately, I need some cash quickly. The model hasn’t caught the public eye as much as I hoped, and is still a way off being the “next sought after classic”. Instead of an e-type Jag, I’ve got an XJS. One day it will rocket in value, but not yet.
So when I try to sell it, I’m simply not likely to recover the purchase price and the additional investment. Factor in that buyers sense I’m desperate to sell, and I have to sell for what I bought it for and write off the investment that never justified itself.

Isn’t that the unfortunate situation MM is in? The investment made is only worthwhile if it achieved the desired outcome. Sometimes gambles come off - investing £10m in King Industries. Sometimes they don’t - investing in Derby County.

Silly you. Morris and Pearce were unaware of tax rules on importing, and had them sent over in shipping containers routed via Egypt. They knew some Geezer in Giza who could do them a deal. Saved a bit of money short term, but disappointingly it turned out they recovered more money on the sale of the containers than we got for the return of Albentosa and Camara. Jozwiak’s valuation remains quite high as Pearce has his value still at 100% of purchase price, because even though he is a bit cack at football at times, he generates a secondary economic benefit as he is doing some building work round at Mel’s gaff.
