    Derby 3 - Yeovil 2 2014
2-0 down at half time and the concourses were so relaxed about it. We just all seemed to know we would come back to win. I'd never been more convinced of a promotion in my life. Bloody Zamora.
All of the 1884 Group display games too. Incredible feeling to see the visual impact of what we did. I imagine the people behind Popside Fanatics experienced the same feeling on Saturday. They're doing a brilliant job.

Of games that haven't been mentioned yet, I'll mention two : a 4-0 away win at a crumbling Molyneux just after Christmas 1985, when the team really clicked and warmed up a freezing cold afternoon in Cox's Division 3 promotion season; and the 2-1 win at Highbury the season Arsenal won the double and we completed the double over them - a beautiful day and we celebrated the night away in Covent Garden.

It was amazing!!! Anyone calling the pitch invasion 'tinpot' can in my view get in the bin. I've never known an atmosphere like it at Pride Park as all 4 stands really got involved and revelled in the moment. Our flag game was very strong and it was quite a spectacle. I just hope we continue to keep up this level of support next season. COYR

What a weekend. just on Cloud 9 ! Great to see the nod to B4 and thinking about how much joy he'd have had at how things turned out. I never met him in person but feel that through those who did, that I now have some measure of the guy.
It just set me thinking though (and without wishing to put any kind of dampener on things) about all the other now departed Rams fans who never got to see us make the step back up again, including my Mum who we lost before Christmas - she was a season ticket holder of many decades who drove us to away games before I could drive. It's not a sad thought though, she'd have been absolutely buzzing today and would have loved all the scenes at the end. 🙂🐏 COYR

I too didn't want a pitch invasion but was wrong. It was a thing of beauty and seeing it again now from all angles on peoples vids all the more so. The sight of  the fans building up on the touch line in the minutes before gave it an impressive inevitability. Whilst joyously happy the invasion seemed to express all our pent up rage and frustration at what happened to us in the lead up to relegation. Has there been a better celebration in Pride Park?    The only downside is that the season is now over.

That's the whole point I'm making. People weren't debating with critics, they were just slagging them off or saying you can't criticise now.
'Warne haters' is the term most used
I personally don't bullied, however debates have been 'shut down'. Anyway do feel free to continue dismissing my point and inadvertently making it.

The same as you , I’ve seen the glory days and for me this season is right up there , well actually these last two seasons in the context of admin all taken together ,,
football is more than football , my wife and daughter have come to games since admins and it’s been great , we have shared so much , we got two extra tickets for Carlisle so my wife and daughter could both come and bring my daughters boyfriend, there was the bit of sorrow that my eldest daughter who had season ticket when both daughters were small is no longer with us in person,
football is shared emotion , we will remember the day , the season , the emotion , we won’t remember what division we were promoted from , we won’t go back over the style of football we played ,
the last two seasons have been great , a bond between generations in families , happy times shared ,
    that’s just how I see it 🤷🏻‍♂️

David Clowes took Paul Warne and his coaching staff on to get us up. PW’s record of achieving promotion from L1 is unreal.
PW set the squad a target of 92 points to get us up this season.
we achieved exactly that and in the dying embers of the season held our (experienced) nerve and fought off the challengers who now have to go through play-off purgatory.
Paul Warne has got the job done.
he will get a long unfettered transfer window and a fair crack at Championship management. He deserves that.
I think Rotherham were in 7th or 8th position in Championship when DC came knocking.

I’m looking forward to seeing his Derby side and how they fair next term. I’m hoping for an Ipswich rather than a Plymouth season.
Massive respect to him his coaches, DC and all the players. Enjoyed that ta 🥈🐏⚽️👏

Genuinely thought the emotion from yesterday had waned a little, then you mention Birds and I well up again. As part of his pre match routine my Grandpa would pop to Park Farm to run his errands and always went into Birds to buy my Nana a cream bun, clearly to stay in her good books while he was at the match and a couple of jars deep afterwards, the daft old sod.
What a bloody good feeling it is to have that promotion secured for those of us still around and those watching from…somewhere else 🐏

The people point scoring and ridiculing folks for having different opinions are no better than the strawman they are beating. There are legit concerns regarding the style of play and I guess a lot of unknowns regarding Warne having some money to spend. This idea that there are people that are unhappy that Warne succeeded is a pure fabrication.
Next season will be interesting because we won't be able to rely on the virtue of having better individuals 99% of the time like we have this season. Big test for Warne and i'm interested to see what type of players he signs. Like at every club there will be fans that will start to question things if we go on a bad run and looking terrible in games, that is totally normal. I questioned Warne when we had that bad run this season and it is not because I hate him. I actually think he's pretty sound.
Log off and enjoy the moment, if you don't have anything nice to say then don't bother.

    A) It's a strawman argument as no one was being negative. People are being jumped on before they post.
    B) Dissent has been shut down and some posters feel like they can't express their views.
I'm not a fan of Warne's football but appreciate now isn't the time for that conversation. I'm just enjoying the result.
However also now isn't the time to try and score points against more critical posters.

    Totally agree.
I have also always been a fan of Warne. An honest, decent man, who I suspect is not quite as ‘limited’ in his abilities as some people suspect may be the case in this parish.
His ability to manage people should not be underestimated either. The team spirit he and his team have built at the club appears to be exceptional. I don’t get this ‘he can’t attract players’ stuff either. I think that after money concerns, playing for a decent human being who values you would be high on a lot of people’s lists, in any walk of life including pro football.
I have an ex-pro footballer in my family (Sunderland 300+ appearances, amongst other clubs, and does some agent work) who told me when Warne was appointed that he is a very good manager. I’m very much minded to accept that.
I also don’t get a lot of the criticism around the football that is played. Man City since Haaland arrived have spent a lot of time getting the ball out wide to then cross it in to Haaland. No one seems to be criticising them for it. I like our pace on the wings, and how we stretch the pitch. I love our defence. Of course there will be things that could be improved- but broadly speaking we’ve been a League 1 club that has had to fish in a certain pond. I’m sure we’ll see an evolution in style and staff. Though it needs to be gradual as not to destroy what has already been built, and I’d trust Warne and co to do this.
Success for me, next season would be a mid table finish. Anything better than 10th would be amazing. As always though, I defer to David Clowes and his judgement as he seems to know  what he’s doing and is a lot closer to it than I am. Hopefully fans will continue to get behind the manager and team, even in the rough times.

He’s done what was expected of a derby manager this season which was a difficult feat (when was the last time a manager lived up to the bookies expectations for us?) but his team expected promotion and a lot of fans expected the same so fair play to him.

I’ve found the football to be tough to watch at times but at the same time I’ve loved the season as a whole. The downs made the ups that much sweeter and I’m willing to put the football down to pragmatism in the face of restrictions to how he could shape his squad. I’ve always said I liked him as a guy and now as a manager he’s achieved success with us too.

Im now reserving judgement on what his football can look like until after this unrestricted transfer window where hopefully he will get in the profile of player he wants. I don’t expect even a top half finish next season I just want to see a squad beginning to come together and take shape with a younger profile of player and to not be a chance of relegation in the last match of the season.

Fair play to anyone who never lost faith particularly after the Stevenage away performance. His staff and he managed to turn it around from that point and went in a run that would have achieved 103 points if extrapolated over a 46 match season. That’s incredible dominance.

    All derby aren’t we?

It will be fascinating to see if he can adapt his tactics, and fascinating to see who he buys. I am pleased that you, and a great many, seem to think he will be ok. I wouldn’t be disappointed if you/they were right. But enough from me about Warne, certainly for a couple of months. After today, he deserves a break.
