Two of my friends are accountants and I asked them about this yesterday.  Neither believe the season ticket situation is a sign of the end of the club or administration however you want to spin it.
One said for starters that if the club was in danger of going into administration it would be doing the opposite to ensure it can bring in as much cash as possible to help avoid admin. So by not putting season tickets up for sale because we are heading for administration in his opinion, would make literally zero sense.

The other one said that he believes that if the club was to sell say 20,000 season tickets and then we hit another lockdown and the club can't fulfill those sales - it puts us in a sticky situation and creates a ton of admin - he thinks by essentially ensuring the club only sells tickets where it’s highly likely to guarantee bums on seats, helps the club to gain a much clearer financial picture of the revenue and impact of income from tickets. Of course this is their opinions on what they believe the reasoning is - other accountants and business people may say different things. Personally I think both of what they have said makes sense to me, but I don’t understand the ins and outs of administration etc.

I would agree with that and when the referee let a bad foul on one of our players go on Saturday I thought just that. However, first time one happened on a United player Buchanan was booked. Both were bookable offences, imo, but only the Derby player was yellow-carded.
Having said that, I thought that both teams played in the right spirit and there was very little 'flinging' going on!

The EFL's rule on the minimum strength of a playing squad even for a club under an embargo is there to protect the integrity of the competition. By including the players used for the Chorley game in calculating Derby's current squad strength they would be arguing against the very reason the rule was introduced in the first place.
If Derby had fielded the same team they did for the Chorley game for an end of season match with little consequence to the Rams (but possibly could effect other issues i the division) they would be done for fielding an under-strength team.

It is a mess. This is the third season running where our preparations have been completely disrupted by aspects outside of the managers control. If nothing else, that is more than enough punishment from the EFL.
I think we did well the previous season, but last season, everyone underperformed, from top to bottom. To make matters worse, the job done from external sources (the EFL) has also been rubbish.
This all leaves Rooney in the middle of potential disaster. What can he do? He was very lucky to get the job in the first place, he was lucky to keep his job (better performing managers have gone for far less). He is probably the manager most in need of support but he is getting none. These are not conditions to help a manager blossom. He doesn't have any previous performances to give him leverage. The only thing he has right now is that the club cannot afford to sack him. I am certain he believes he can be a success, yet I think he had an arrogance last season that let him down. I think Rooney knows his managerial career will not be tarnished with what happens here, I think it still remains a win win for him. If he makes something of this season he will deserve all the credit going.
We have to support him, we have to back him. I didn't want him, I thought he should have gone at the end of the season and I have minimal enthusiasm for this season. But right now, based on pure blind faith, I hope he aces it. Until any kind of takeover happens, this is what we have. Though I fear things could get nasty if we don't make a good start.

I agree, the smart move would have been to walk away and use his media chums to highlight the hiding to nothing he has been on at Derby so far. His name alone would get him another job at this stage. The fact he's still here has always given me hope that there is something bubbling away in the background that is going to give him a prayer of achieving anything next season, but the longer it goes on the more I think I might be clutching at straws...why ruin his reputation by staying otherwise? Right? Right???????????????

Personally I think plenty of clubs would look and see oh yeah he was at Derby, what a disaster they were! There will be offers but whether from clubs with as much potential as us, I doubt it.

Whilst appreciate everyone is entitled to an opinion on a forum, but there seems to be a smug group of fans on here that seem to be wanting the team and manager to fail, as that will prove them to have been right all along.
Whilst Rooney wasn't my choice of manager he is the man in charge and did keep us up when most including myself thought we were going down last season.
He's also been in charge of us during what is probably some of the most difficult circumstances any manager of Derby, and most other clubs for that matter has had to face.
Let's not kid ourselves, it would be a hell of an achievement for any  manager, especially a novice with just over 1/2 a seasons experience to turn things around.
With a poor bare bones squad, no sign of players coming in due to Embargo Plus, and want away Chairman,  not to mention the potential future points penalty, the fact he hasn't yet walked away from the job when alot would have is to Rooney's credit in my opinion.
But these are the cards we've been dealt. So as the season approaches isn't it time for the fans to begin to get behind the team and manager and show some unity at a time when almost everyone is against us.
If that beyond some posters at least try and be constructive with your criticism.

I know a few on here have a blinkered view of Rooney. Some didn't want him here in the first place, some didn't want him as manager which is fair enough, we're all not going to like/want the same players managers.
    This is only my opinion.
When Rooney first took over fully we were playing better stuff than under Cocu and we pulled away from the relegation zone.
Then we were hit with injuries to key players which basically ripped the spine out of our team.
Then CKR started carrying an injury but had to play still and we could see he wasn't 100% but we had nothing else.
The results/confidence started to decline and the squad we had after the injuries, any manager would struggle with. Our bench was full of kids.
In my opinion we can't berate Rooney for his final 15 matches when McLaren had the same problem in the season we failed to reach the playoffs, with a far superior squad and everyone was blaming the injuries to our key players in the run in. You can't have it both ways.
If Mac was manager last season he'd have had far far more slack from certain posters than Rooney has had.
Luckily this forum is a tiny percentage of our fan base and those who just don't like Rooney is even less.
I'm not happy with how thing went last season, not by a long shot, but i'm a realist and I could see what shape the club is in.
To put ALL the blame on Rooney is ridiculous imo.
He now has a good pre season to install his playing style on the squad. He also needs to get his players in.
THEN, if after all this we are still close to relegation, i believe he'll walk.

So, a young guy who made a mistake, had lost a parent and was out with the team captain has no chance of redemption.?
he was fit to play, fit to fulfill his contract, got his head down, was contrite, scored a few goals and got on with it.

OK, for me Curtis has Captain written in his DNA but just maybe this is what it takes to lift Tom to another level ?
I’m all for giving him a chance.

Thought Morrison played well vs Utd today, good and positive on the ball and seemed to work hard off it. Constantly tried to make things happen and play forward.

If ( I know it’s a big if) he can continue playing like this, he will walk into our side. Definitely more creative than anyone else who we have available

It was great to get back down to Pride Park and see our first team in action. Not the best day for it temperature-wise and sometimes players are going through the motions a bit in friendlies but I thought most of them today put in a good shift.
Players that caught my eye first half were Morrison (great use of the ball - if anyone can get him playing like that every week, sign him up!), Aluko, Byrne, Lawrence (despite his header!)  Jagielka and Davies both classy at the back and Roos' handling of the ball and quick distribution kept us moving forward. The intent was definitely there to get forward much quicker, with some smart interchanges to transition play down both flanks.
Bird had a mixed game, did some good stuff going forward but made the mistakes for the goals. However, he tries things, Shinnie doesn't and was more of a sideways passer than Bird today. Buchanan puts in a shift going forward, I thought he did okay too given the opposition.
No-one seems to have mentioned that we let our second goal in just before the 60 minute changes. At this point we were playing against a completely fresh Man Utd midfield and attack whereas our lads were wilting. It was 36 degrees pitch-side and a rushed pass from Aluko I think that put Bird under pressure.
Unlike others, I thought Fozzy played well when he came on, looked much sharper than the end of last season and I thought him and CKR took good responsibility for the younger group of players. Fozzy definitely organising the defence. Ebosele played well too, you can't ignore him, Hutchinson took a while to get into it but looked classy on the ball and could have had a goal. Bardell and Thompson showed some nice touches and weren't overawed - have either of them played for the first team before?
Sibley and Macdonald a bit disappointing, especially Sibley who wasn't offering the defensive cover that Aluko offered first half. I want to see him get his mojo back quickly because this isn't the player I know he can be.
Not sure whether Man Utd's first goal was a handball? I thought it was but not given, did Rams TV show anything?
Overall an enjoyable afternoon and a decent atmosphere for a friendly with a bit of banter between the two sets of 'singing' supporters.
However the highlight of the afternoon, and worth the admission money alone, was to see CKR score an actual goal in front of the Derby fans. Use him well and he's going to be even more of a hero this season than last. ?

Crikey, someone got out of bed the wrong side today.
    My view is:
I agree it was an odd decision but, let's judge his leadership abilities once he's had the the chance to prove them. I'm not convinced be will but, I'll give him the chance. As for being a smack in the face of fans, well that's just bizarre. It is really that important to you that you feel so offended?
With regard the drink driving incident, obviously none of us have forgotten it but we have to move on. It can't be a millstone around his neck for ever.
Are you really still outstanding a refund from the club? If so, fair enough you should have received it by now.
Regarding today's game, I get the impression that you think you should be allowed to watch it for free. This has been discussed at length on the appropriate thread (I don't know why you've brought it up on this one). Whilst the prices to attend are a bit steep, I really don't have a problem with the club charging to attend or view online. Take it or leave it.
I'm not exactly sure what a Shinnie type owner is or where we'd find one. We can only consider offers from those making them
