DCFC1388 got a reaction from angieram in Rooney's promised new style of play?
I dont think we ever had enough control of the ball today to really see our new style of play, Huddersfields formation stifled us.
He wants our fullbacks high and our cms split to cover the space left by the fullbacks, the 10 then drops into the space vacated by the 2 cms splitting.
Forsyth managed to get forward ok but Byrne didnt get forward as much because their lwb had a brilliant game.

DCFC1388 got a reaction from RoyMac5 in Has the transfer embargo been lifted?
Well now we have the initial 4 in we have at least got something t o work with whilst we try and sort the embargo with the EFL so we can bring even more in.
Like Curtis & Rooney said, we didnt know the team until 12 yesterday so couldnt do any set piece training & our cb's havent played together even in preseason. At least now we have a basis to train with.

Hey ho .. a win would have been great but a draw was a fair result. They were a big side, not shy in the tackle and shirt pulling department.
Fantastic to be back .. great atmosphere
As others have said Joz was ok today but not as dangerous as you would like to think. Not his best game.
I thought Fozzy had a great game, won lots in the air and some tidy head ons and line balls in the right place. He is an intelligent footballer, past his prime, but there’s some real quality there. Winced in the second half when he went down .. but all ok thank goodness.
Kaz.. Bulwark. He is so tough ! .. needs runners closer
Midfield do ok but we lie too deep. Bird is a good player but he’s better further up. He’s more creative than he’s given credit for but can’t show it where he is on the pitch.
Watson .. continued to look like a cracking prospect. Hungry, aggressive, quick .. booking he got was harsh. I want to see replays because I’d bet that was a penno
Curtis and Stearman .. both did damned well considering the press, but they did look stretched when Hudds played the channels
Byrne Lawrence Shinnie all worked and competed hard
Festy and Sibbo added some much needed Zip, muscle and threat.
Shout out for Roos .. some great saves, dealt with their high press well and that save with his right foot was instinctive skill and top drawer.
Ref and east stand Lino get 4/10 .. some very poor decisions and unbalanced card issuing relative to offences. Some blatant shirt pulling .. pushing to get a corner and a 50/50 against Watson that didn’t just go against him (ok) it got him a card. (Not ok )
looking forward to Tuesday ??????

Doesn’t need an armband to set a great example. Spoke very well after the match on RD.
I thought he played well today.
Based on the fact that he and Stearman hadn’t played together they did pretty well.

Great interview on Radio Derby. Really honest.
Said if it was any other club than Derby he'd have been gone before now. But he wanted to stay and this is now the longest he has stayed at any club in his career.
Also said neither him nor Stearman even knew they'd be here when they trained Thursday and that they had no playing time together as a pair in pre-season.
Gave praise to Derby players and call outs for Roos, Sibley, Fozzy.
Oh, and he did say he didn't touch the ball for the goal! But he credited Duane Holmes with the assist! ?

DCFC1388 reacted to Carnero in Has the transfer embargo been lifted?
Agreed, after getting past the initial surprise, I did think it would make sense that the 23 players actually means 3 GKs + 20 outfield players.
Selling/releasing Marshall would not allow us to bring in Jagielka, it would just mean a slot for s different 3rd keeper.
The one we will try to sell/release is Jordan Brown, given hes in the 23 but not been given a squad number.

Apparently got to have 3 gks registered in the 23 so either him or an academy player

We have to have more players.
It's really that simple.
We need Jagielka, and Mengi then the options at centre half are fine.
But more so now we absolutely need another striker and a winger.
5-6 more and we can compete.

New season, new team. The answer is 1 game without winning.

Rooney has confirmed he can bring no more players in currently so Morrison has taken the final spot

DCFC1388 got a reaction from Hector was the best in v Huddersfield (H) Match Thread
Dont feel we ever got to grips with their formation, they always seemed to have a spare man in the middle, our wingers needed to do more to help our centre mids. Shinnie & Bird really struggled to get on the ball for the majority of the game.
Roos, Davies & Forsyth were immense all game. Thought Shinnie & Jozwiak were poor today, Lawrence didnt offer much going forward.
We really do lack pace going forward, when we played Martin upfront we had runners off him all the time, CKR had very little running off him.
A point is a point, better than a defeat, onto the next game.

Season tickets should be announced in time for that, given the 7-14 days the club said, we should hear more this coming week

It doesn't matter if there's 5,000; 10,000, or 20,000 attendance - the fact is, Pride Park is open to fans for the first time since March 2020, 17 months ago!!!
There will be many factors why some people will not attend today - still wary of the Covid virus; on holiday; no money because they have lost their job; not interested anymore because of the mess the club is in.
Let's not moan about who will, or will not be there, just be happy that "we few, we happy few, we band of brothers (and sisters)", able to see a live game in, hopefully, a great opening game of the season. COYR's !!!

Well Derby is pretty central so not a bad drive from most places. There are reasons behind his move to Derby which I cannot divulge due to forum rules

It's not hard to trump 4.5k a week , when the embargo lifts I'd like to think people would prefer to join us unless we can't guarantee them game time

DCFC1388 reacted to RamLad1884 in Ryan Allsop - signed on a one year contract
Can only think Marshall is on significantly higher wages than Roos and definitely much more than Allsop.
Suppose if Roos is 'good enough' for our team then why waste valuable wage space on two first team keepers
