It's rules such as above that builds this "vendetta" that some believe the EFL have towards us.
Let's not forget here, the EFL signed off on our accounts, they only became an issue when they looked into the stadium valuation despite Kieran Maguire alerting the EFL to take a look at our accounts a long long time before the stadium sale was made public.
Meanwhile clubs such as QPR smashed the FFP rules the season we played them at Wembley, were Derby crying and threatening to sue the EFL and QPR, no.
Gibson however, well he's been a dog with a bone on this. I suspect the EFL would not have appealed and pushed as hard if they didn't have this threat hanging over them, and this all may look like paranoia, but honestly tell me I'm wrong.
The EFL will not want this in court, front and back pages of the paper for the country to see their handling of all this.
I find it hard to take that we're being punished for something historically which was approved by the EFL, the punishment doesn't feel like it fits the crime either.
We've been under embargo for the best part of a year, unable to strengthen the team, can't submit accounts as there is an argument over accountancy methods which are not in the EFL rules.
We're then being denied an opportunity of an interest free loan that could have helped prevent us going into admin because of the above investigation, so we're hit with -12.
Yet that doesn't appear to be enough as they want a further 9 point deduction.
At what point are we allowed to feel a little annoyed by what the EFL have done here, I'm amazed other club fans are actually enjoying this when it could be their club next.
We have a club down the A52 with an owner sending players between his 2 clubs in plain sight, how is this not been flagged up as a potential FFP issue, can you imagine transfer negotiations? It's a table with 2 chairs and just himself.
It just stinks, it really does. Maybe I'm biased as this is my club, but it does absolutely feel like a vendetta that won't end until they have us in League 1.
When you look at what Rooney and this team are up against, it's incredible the fight they continue to show on the pitch. They don't deserve to have a relegation on their CV's, not one of them.
If we somehow stay up against the EFL's best efforts to send us down, without a doubt Rooney should be manager of the season, not that the EFL would be brave enough to award it him.

It resonates with me cos i had similar.

in 2014, I had an overdraft, three credit cards and a loan. I also was earning a handsome wage and was steadily reducing all of the above. Then, I got made redundant and it took me six months to get a job at similar salary. Whilst the debts prior to losing my job were of my own making, it was the loss of income that prevented me from making payments and caused me to default.

Derby’s loss of income caused the default/admin. Now if clubs weren’t allowed to be in debt, then we deserve what we get, but there are EFL clubs carrying 9-figure debts without scrutiny.

It's perfectly possible to simultaneously believe (as I do) that Mel Morris has run the club in a catastrophically awful way, that the EFL have handled their various interactions with us in a pathetically useless way, and that Maguire is an attention-seeking muppet that doesn't seem to know half as much as he thinks he does.

He is neither objective nor professional. The club's auditors and the Independent Panel (which included a qualified accountant) both confirmed that the club's amortisation policy was compliant with FRS 102. Maguire sought to make a name for himself by repeatedly pointing out that the policy was slightly different to that used by other clubs and inferring that we were cheating. The EFL saw this as an opportunity to get back at Mel Morris and took it to the Panel, only for us to be exonerated (save for a need to expand the notes in the accounts). Unwilling to lose face in this matter, the EFL appealed the decision (so much for the independent review process) and set up another panel with no accountants asked to rule on an accounting matter which then (unsurprisingly) found us guilty. It is this which infuriates most of our fans.
As for the stadium sale, this was a one-off opportunity to realise the increase in value of the stadium to ease the FFP situation. The valuation was professionally obtained, and both submitted to and adjusted in accordance with the stipulations of the EFL, before the transaction went ahead. Whether or not the transaction was in the best interests of the club is a moot point, but it was categorically NOT cheating. That has not stopped the media and the EFL trying to smear it as such. For the EFL to bring a disciplinary charge against the club for carrying out a transaction which they had not only sanctioned, but which had actually been adjusted in accordance with their stipulations, beggars belief and can only have been motivated by vindictiveness.
For all of their stated desire for fair play, we have seen precious little of it from the EFL so far. They have an opportunity to redeem themselves if they give the Administrators' appeal against the 12 point deduction a fair hearing. We shall see.

The simple question is, “had the stadium been open to spectators and the turnover matched the average of the last few years, would Derby be in administration right now?”.

if you think the answer is Yes, then the appeal is not valid, also youre a bit thick ?

Please, no more analogies between our appeal and any other disaster scenario. Some people think the appeal has validity and others don't. It's happening, and further speculation is pointless until it's been concluded.

Must have been watching a different game to RammieIb. One or two times he did not make the right/obvious decision, but generally his passing was good to watch. My only criticism of him at the moment is that he never looks fit enough to last more than 70 minutes. At 2-1 we needed him on to help control matters.

Lawrence scores 1 and creates the other and yet you still pick faults. Unbelievable. He played very well today.
2 points dropped though. Very frustrating. We can’t afford missed opportunities like tonight.

My argument is, it doesn't matter how our finances were, it doesn't matter how close to the wind Mel was sailing, Covid not only cost us 20 million in revenue, we also werent able to access an £8 million loan that all over clubs could. The EFL, in unprecedented times, conveniently made up the rule that, if you are under an embargo you can't have it. I'm sure it was just a coincidence that the 1 club it affected was us.
That £28 million would have wiped the HMRC bill and then all we are left with is the debt owed for players/managers and other creditor debt which isn't classed as preferential.
The picture would have looked so much better if it wasn't for the landscape unexpectedly changing.
I fully expect our appeal to be a success, as I'm sure the administrators will, and if it isn't the EFL seriously need investigating.

The good thing about our defence is that we can make changes and still keep clean sheets.
We changed 3 of the back 4 today & looked solid, changed it a few times vs Swansea & looked solid too, also changed GK without any disruption.
Start scoring some goals & continue with our strong defence we will soon rise up the table.

Yay, I’m going to this!! After a brain haemorrhage and then lockdown I thought I’d never get to PP again. However, I’ve recovered really well over the summer, especially worked hard to improve physically and my partner is letting my son take me to the match - he’s much more worried than I am!
So, Rams, I’d appreciate a good performance and a win - though whatever happens I’ll feel like a winner just getting there.
