eccles the ram reacted to Donegal Ram in Eiran Cashin
Many of us seen glimpses of Eiran's qualities in pre season last year but, the position we were in couldn't promote him to the first team.
His progression once he had the chance to play has been remarkable. Saturday was my first time I have seen Derby play live since lockdown and so first time seeing Cashin play. His MOM display on Sat was even more remarkable because of his age, position and obvious experience. The most impressive thing for me was how he marshalled the defense both physically and verbally. He looked like the seasoned pro who had been in promotion winning teams of the past. Stearman played his part but, cashin was heads above everyone literally.
Not often as a Derby and Ireland supporter that you can get properly excited but, here I am.
    Well played, keep it up.
    Thanks Mr Clowes.

eccles the ram reacted to Inverurie Ram in Away Tickets - 2022/23
I looked into buying an away membership for my eldest lad and I, but quickly realised it would be probably a waste of money, based on the 5th option being a quick chase of 200 tickets or less at best. As the full cost of trips these days limits, myself to about 3 games a season.
Also factoring in all the other difficulties of having to pre plan games well in advance, to get all the other costs, at a reasonable price, to justify the trips, and if I take my boy, aiming for school holidays, so he doesn't miss school days for travelling or I have to take days off work etc and prices doubling up for the two of us etc.
I have turned up to places in the past, that I have missed the game because Sky Sports have moved the fixture, and I have refused to pay the extra costs for additional hotel costs, flight costs and more days off work etc.
I fancied going to Accrington with my boy, October school holidays, perfect. But I think I would struggle for tickets, so even though I spent this afternoon looking at all travel options, the cost of flights, accomodation, train and bus tickets to just get us there, it would cost me around the £500 mark, and that's before the worry of trying to get match tickets nearer the game, and before we add food and drink into the mix.
My lad already understands the better feeling of watching a football team, away from home, and being in the away end and being a part of that atmosphere. Some folk could point to signing up with the home club, and trying to get in that way, but when you have spent a great deal of money already, just to watch one live game of football, you would like to watch it, with your fellow supporters, and not in the end, you shouldn't really be in.
Unfortunately this season, especially when my boy wants to attend, then it sways my decision to try and pick games at Pride Park, which at the moment, looks like Bristol Rovers for starters, which works out at about £300, before food and drink.
And maybe we will go to Sheff Wed away, last game of the season, if we get a massive allocation there, and one other game inbetween.
At the end of the day, it's great that we are selling out away from home, and the longer that lasts, it's better for the team, and  if our fans carry on to support, and represent Derby County Football Club with all the respect and dignity, our new owner and club deserve, then I'm happy with that.

I was in the home end for this too! Cracking match that one and very difficult to control the excitement. Being soporific Gooners, I doubt we were under any real threat.
My dad told me he was in the home end for the 5-2 FA Cup victory against Spurs and having to contain his excitement as Roger Davies scored a hat trick in a come back. Claims he averted a kicking by dragging his mate's arm down as he celebrated behind the goal. Reckons you can see this unfold on the footage of the game...
Someone better than me can probably find the highlights on YouTube!

Well I am happy as happy as Larry (who was he by the way ?)
the sort of conversations we are having are bog standard fan chat “we need” .. “if only” … “just one decent x”
    it’s just great !
no amortisation, no FFP, no deadly silence, no rule book analysis, no Gibson and Couhig
Instead we are moaning about switching wingers or a two game striker who hasn’t scored, the sin of 2 DM’s .. it’s so effing normal ?
    I am enjoying normal

Yeh i agree lets go back to the days where we instantly give our managers long term contracts on lucrative deals so we can pay them millions when we inevitably sack them.
I dont think being cautious with Rosenior is a bad thing. No point rushing into a long term contract as much as i would like to.
Id also imagine forsyth probably wanted more money than we could offer, which again strikes me as a good thing if the club didnt just roll over and accept any old demand like Mel used to.
And im more than happy with the squad weve managed to assemble so far. Did you miss the bit where we've been in administration and almost ceased to exist. There are limits on what our resources can achieve these days. It would be nice to sign a few more but we cant fritter away a load of cash anymore

100% bang on the debts would have got worse and it would have been curtains for sure, we are very lucky David Clowes has been kind enough to pay over the odds (Event after writing off some of the debt), for us when we were clearly insolvent.  The £53M he paid was a championship value not a League 1 Club value.
I really hope for David Clowes that we go back up and he sees a return on his investment.

Battered them first half and looked too good for this division, they came out and looked the better side early second half then we got into it and made second half a pretty even game , they nicked a goal on the break we never took our chances ,,move on to the next game heads up ,
im not even gonna moan about the real doom and gloom moaners because it must be just as great for them to have only the football to moan about ,, we have a club to follow and we will do it in our own ways arguing the toss on here ,,, long may it continue

Frustrated by the result as it was undeserved but encouraged by the performance.
First half we battered them & don't think being 2 or 3 up would have flattered us. We were at them down both flanks, unlike last week the left side saw plenty of action with Roberts, Hourihane & Barkhuizen linking up very well. My only criticism was a lack of bodies in the box at times, which was the reason Mendez-Laing couldn't convert from Charlton keeper's spill from I think Hourihane's shot. Quality from right side was also variable.
Turning point was Collins hitting the post just before halftime. That goes in & we're in a position to control the tempo second half & pick them off. Thought Collins was overall a lot better than last week, held the ball much better & very tenacious.
Second half they had to improve & for the first 15 mins, they were the better side. They pressed us & our passing became sloppy...good call then from Rosenior to change things with Sibley on for Smith. Thereafter we regained our threat but by then Charlton had cottoned on to the long ball in behind our narrow fullback trick, which was pretty much the move for their goal. A quick break after a slip from Hourihane & Wildsmith parries a shot to their lad to finish.
Lots of effort late on to grab an equaliser but have to say the players looked exhausted. Managed a couple of half chances but some overly intricate build up play at times (especially to generate space for a cross). The big chance was Knight's header...all of us at top of the stand thought it was in & he should really have scored.
Overall, happy with performance but we have to be more clinical when we're in charge of games. To say its a new team though, the level of cohesion at times is impressive. We go again. COYR

Listened again to his interview. His humility and down to earth approach comes over in bucketloads.! I think his tenure will far exceed our expectations. If the team on the pitch can replicate the confidence he exudes we are in for a great few seasons. I don't think he will be around for the long term (he will want to go back to sitting in the North stand) but he will hand over the reins to someone who he believes will have the best intentions of this club. Really excited about this season especially . Expect some ups and downs but we will be there or thereabouts at the end. Thank you again Mr Clowes for putting your money into an iconic club with fantastic and loyal fans.I hope you will enjoy this and a few more seasons at the helm. UTR!

I’m with you on that. The ref missed stuff from both sides, was at times inconsistent but he was equally inconsistent with both teams. The only one that really got me was the GBH on Collins.
Anyway, what a day ! Canal street packed, ended up on some double yellows but got away with it. Queue to get in, some of the concourse vendors ran out of plastic Carling. PPS loud and proud.

Adrenaline fuelled first 15 mins the NML burning rubber, looked like we could run riot until we got close to goal. A couple of high crosses that well positioned Collins just couldn’t quite reach. Then Knighty and NML doing wonderful overlaps and interplay. Oxford rode the storm and were getting in to it at times. They came out in the second half with their own up and at em spirit but we kept to our plan, kept playing football, class will out. The invisible for 65 mins Hourihan dropped a shoulder and buried it. Sibley started the rot with some driving runs and played provider. Cashin who was under the cosh occasionally in the first half, became imperious. Deep in to injury time, class control rather than lump, then a 1 yard pass to a white shirt. Sweet. Knight can play anywhere, know it’s not long term but my lasting memory is him and NML doing aggressive tippy tappy and quite simply looking a cut above.
Need a no 10 / AM to give runners and Collins at bit more to feed off and all will be well.

Cracking competitive match, which wasn’t a walkover but we deserved to win.

Only one sleep before it starts. Like a kid at Christmas I can't wait. The walk to the ground after a couple of shandies, the smell of the burger vans, the mingling of the crowd, the buzz of excitement. Walking through the turnstiles,up the stairs, the loud hum getting louder, up more steps and you are there. The noise of the crowd getting louder through the music, the expectation of what the season holds. The 'We are Derby' poem belted out, the roar when the teams come out. This is football. This is what I love. The season starts tomorrow at 3pm. I CANNOT WAIT! UTR!
