Cue the EFL stalling until our backup option has secured a contract somewhere else before telling us that we can't have Gayle. Of course It'll need to be put before the independent EFL 'Make some new rules up because it's Derby' Panel which won't be gathering for at least 6 to 8 months depending on when they can be arsed to deal with it and how much inconvenience will be caused. They reserve the right to suddenly find it acceptable if Waghorn or Washington suddenly find fitness or if Collins recovers quicker than expected, just to minimise its usefulness to us and then they can move the goal posts and reduce the wage level that we are allowed so they can slap us with some spurious charges for some s*** they just made up.

Navalny's death blamed on the Kremlin would create a martyr I suppose, not that it matters much, lines being so clearly drawn between the sides.  A distraction from the recent interview and bad news on the Ukraine front?  Perhaps.  That won't matter much in the long run either, I think. 
To be clear, I don't think there are many good guys in this fight but we the people get caught in between, coerced to take sides, when most of us just want a peaceful future for our kids and ourselves.

I know that’s meant tongue in cheek, but I think Rooney would prove just as divisive. His moment in time for Derby was a unique one and should be left at that in my opinion. 
Mac 4/5 or 6? Maybe, but that seems at odds with those who want a young progressive coach. Perhaps we could see the return of Rosenior down the line, when Warne departs and Rosey has had his time at Hull 🤔 
I don’t know what the answer to who’s next could or should be. I know that Warne is the manager for now, he doesn’t appear to be going anywhere so I accept that and as I said, when he does leave I hope his replacement is more universally accepted by the fans. 

When you have a season ticket you keep going but many times this season after leaving by 11 and getting back at 8 even when winning it has felt like a slog. After the effort and expense involved think fans can discuss the negatives as much as they like as long as they are not vicious to staff or players personally.
Are you really saying you get back from a game and feel uplifted focussing just on the positives? Yesterday was an opportunity missed against a poor side with 2 henchmen at the back who should have been torn apart. If we get promoted we will scrape it

The players can have lapses in concentration, that happens to every team and late goals goes for and against us. The manager tells the players what do, how to set up, where to play the ball, movements going forward. I think the squad is good enough to play with more control, more fluidity, wearing sides out by actually keeping the ball. There was a couple of times where it was one touch passing and we got into their box, really good football. If we just kept the ball better, Shrewsbury would have burnt out in the end. Their quality of pass was awful and we kept gifting them opportunities to knock the ball in the channels once their subs came on.
The manager does not want the team to retain the ball, hence why every side we face regardless of quality keeps having chances. We should be killing teams off, not just with the scoreline but making them run around and tiring them out. We could easily pick teams off but Warne's style of football makes it very difficult to put games to bed. I don't think many folks are moaning for the sake of it, even if I don't agree with some of their points. The team is not playing smartly enough in a "bad patch" where we are picking up points but it is a chore to see to 90 minutes. We should not be breathing a sigh of relief thinking I'm glad we've like some points here like underdog smaller club with a small budget. 
 

Warne will always err on the side of caution. That's my biggest worry about him.
Saying we needed three at the back to compensate for Cashin doesn't exactly demonstrate he has confidence in the rest of our defence.
Keeping CBT on the bench, when he might show a bit of spark up front? Give him 20 minutes. 
Should have started the game more attacking and then shored it up at the back if we needed to. Instead, he'd only got less defensive subs to bring on having used the "solid" players to start with.
I don't think 8 shots in 90 minutes is an acceptable return yesterday.
He set the dour tone from the off, gave Shrewsbury a platform to hold on to , one goal is never enough at our level.
Maybe away from home it would have been justified, but we aren't going to score goals when we always seem to be playing with the handbrake on.

I've reached the apathy stage. 
When my lad came downstairs this morning, and said he didn't feel well enough to go, I was kind of relieved. 
I just don't find the disruption to the day worth the time and cost invested, sadly. 
It's the same old performance at home, match after match, against teams who always seem to be 16th-19th in the league when we play them!
 

The process used for this season will need to be overhaulled. 12 summer signings and a further 2 in January, of which only 3 are likely to be regular starters is absolutely shocking (Nelson, Nyambe, Blackett-Taylor). This is also after the squad failed to place top last season, losing 3 of our first 11 (Roberts, Knight and McGoldrick) and not even having a right back in the entire squad.
It's summarised by having no long term vision. That's in terms of: a) bringing in younger players who will either maintain their current standards for longer, or have room for improvement; or b) planning how the players will fit into the team.
Warne put a clear focus on older and more experience players, based on the rationale of higher wages equates to better players. If more budget is put towards the wages, we'll end up with a stronger squad of players.
Warne also had no plan on how to fit the players into the team. This is demonstrated by early summer recruitment being with 3421 in mind, which quickly changed to 352, and then alternating between 442 and 4231 during the season so far. We signed a LB (Elder) to play as a wing back, but also signed Nyambe (RB) after already signing 2 wing backs. He also signed a slow CB who cannot play in a high line and is uncomfortable on the ball under pressure. We've basically got through from October with only 1 fully fit forward whowas 2nd choice last season and failed to improve on in the summer AND January.
The style of play our CF targets prefer also varied. Summer targets like Harris, Rhodes and Sharp all have different strengths and weaknesses. Similar with January targets such as Smith, Gregory, Mubama, Ennis. It's just a scattergun approach all round. Most of these targets compromise on the high intensity press Warne wants to implement too.

Problem is with our current manager it doesn’t matter how good the academy players are he will not use them to improve. The efl trophy was a great time to get them some competitive football yet we still constantly use the older generation. Like with previous recruitment I have no idea what the actual plan is 

Love the lad personally and partly because of that, I think a move elsewhere is a probably not such a bad move for him. Folk have questioned whether Brizzle can match our ambitions, but they overlook the fact that if Max were all about ambition, he'd have left Derby years back. As it is, Bristol are a Championship club, located in a vibrant city, there are strong links through Jason Knight and Max will presumably be on a very decent salary too. Not a move entirely without merit then! 
Clearly a good few would disagree, but I say more power to him, he owes us the square root of FA. He's shown his loyalty though thick and thin and yet still isn't really appreciated by a significant number of us fans. The football side of that debate will rage on no doubt, but their opinions have been made loud and clear, so perhaps this too plays into his thinking. It would mine.
What is clear, is that Max is doing this on his own terms and I believe securing a positive outcome for Derby too, also ranks a priority. I think the deal structure, is actually quite telling. The fee, by all accounts, is a fair one and if reports are accurate, a fair bit more than we could sensibly expect at a tribunal. We also retain his services until the end of the season, not a benefit for some on here, I concede, but certainly one in my mind and after that, Max gets what he wants, which sadly, is a fresh start and a clean slate after the summer break in pastures new.
TBH, I'm gutted the lad has not chosen to take another tilt with Derby, but he's a been very loyal for a lad at the right end of his career and I can only thank him and wish him all the best.

Levels of enjoyment will surely also depend on what stage of your 'supporting life' you're at. I'm not really sure I was casting a critical eye over the specifics of our play under Davies for example, I was just there for the ride and don't really recall making much of anything in the way of an assessment as to whether it was good football or whether it was entertaining me or not.
I enjoy watching us play entertaining football, sure, but enjoyment and entertainment aren't mutually exclusive 
There have been things to enjoy when watching most managers.
Jim Smith obviously had us playing some lovely football in the PL but it was before I was really attending games, only really saw us on TV. Bloody loved watching players like Wanchope, Baiano, Sturbridge and we were regularly, at least for a few season,  getting good results against some excellent competition while playing some amazing football.
Gregory I have very little recollection of tbh. 
Burley's spell is right near the start of my ST holding days. Enjoyed that for similar reasons as Smith, we had some class overseas signings, played pretty football and were competing for promotion for a place back at the top table. That was ruined by the ownership, without whom we could have built something that got us back to where we had been under Smith.  It was exciting to me.
Brown was a crazy time, we were a mess, he was out of his depth, but it oddly intriguing and I can't say that in some small way I didn't enjoy it.
Davies, on reflection the football wasn't pretty but we had a number of players you could really get behind, there was the iconic Stevie Howard, the graft and experience of Oakley, the skill of David Jones, magic moments from an academy product in Giles Barnes. Big Dave Darren Moore need I say more. Leacock came from nowhere and looked a classy defender. Above all though we were an excellent TEAM and the goal in sight (and achieved) was the Premier League. It mattered not whether it was entertaining.
Jewell oh god Jewell. Still, we knew we were s*** but we made the most of it as a fanbase, before relegation at least. Gallows humour provided some light relief. Second season it just snowballed, even though on paper some of our signings were pretty decent, Commons & Hulse would go on to be bright sparks in Cloughs early days and even though he's divisive, I quite liked having Robbie Savage here.
Clough I have massive respect for given the job he had on. It's such a long period of time he was here it's hard to distill it into one paragraph, but slowly and surely he built the team that McClaren would enthrall us all with. There were bumps, many, along the way but all throughout you knew he was doing it all for the benefit of Derby County, on a genuinely shoestring budget whilst trying to compete with teams with far greater spending power than us. The intent was always there to play good football, but he seemed to lose sight of it too easily when things went awry
He also lead us to 10 straight victories over Leeds and some memorable games against Forest. He'd just taken us as far as he could though IMO.
McClaren I don't think I need to say much about tbh, great times even if we didn't make it up - one bloody kick differently in the QPR game, or George Thorne's knees holding up, or Ibe not being recalled and we were on the verge of potentially another Smith-style era of playing attractive football at the top level.
Clement not great, not awful, we still had most of the McClaren stalwarts so there was still a clear bond with the team, so it was still enjoyable and we still had hopes of PL football.
Pearson simply got it all wrong but his time was brief enough to not leave me with (m)any lasting mental scars.
Wassall knew exactly what we wanted to see, and he got us playing some very enjoyable stuff but he was maddeningly naive tactically. Enjoyment and frustration equal.
Rowett, similar to Davies. Not pretty but again it was all about the team. Not entertaining but still enjoyable, Championship playoffs with Vydra unplayable at times, a massively clinical, goalscoring marvel.
Lampard through sheer quality of loans  was enjoyable.
Cocu had a really good spell before all the rugs were pulled, and his work bringing through the academy players was excellent, it was a delight to see them coming through and showing their worth at Championship level.
Rooney/Rosenior... first season dire, utterly dire but punctuated by the elation. of staying up on the final day. 2nd season the us against the world mentality made for some.memorable and enjoyable games.
Warne... very little of the above applies. We don't play nice football, there's no sense that we're onto something good we can build on in years to come, we aren't a good 'team' despite having some good players, the tactical management is almost as naive as Wassall's and what seems to constitute entertainment is 'going toe to toe' with some piss poor teams so that it's nice for a neutral to watch. That sort of entertainment does not (to me) enjoyment make.

Warne out. I don't care if we turn this game around. It's just the absolute worst dross I can recall us playing.

Presumably he's acting under instructions. Warne insists on getting the ball into the box as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, I'm only listening to Radio Derby, but an incident sounded weird. Sibley apparently elbowed in the face, drawing blood. No freekick given. Sibs has lengthy treatment, yet despite this being an obvious head injury, is ordered to leave the field allowing Cheltenham to attack 10 men, Barks having to deputize as left back. And, to compound this, the referee would not let Sibley back onto the field for a long time. What is going on with the officials? How can they be so very poor?

Now, now! You can't expect too much from a club with one of the biggest wage budgets, the biggest ground, the best facilities and a manager with a track record of promotion.
It's your own fault for expecting too much!

Disagree to an extent. There are a few people on here, myself included, who have been voicing concerns over the issues we perceived since as early as last season. None of those issues have gone away and the club have done very little to change my mind.
This isn't some mindless knee-jerk reaction. For a lot of people it's simply that there is only so much paper you can put over the cracks before you run out.
Plenty of people advocated for time, which is fair enough, but Warne has had over a year at this point and the same issues keep cropping up.

I posted a version of this in the match thread but it belongs here I think. I'm Warne out, I have been all season really. Even in our run of form performance levels were frequently poor and we rarely look like a team in control of a football match.
The simple fact is Warne thinks he can approach the Derby job with good vibes and percentage based kick and rush football down the flanks that offers little control. There's not really any nuance to it and any manager with half a brain can figure it out and counter it. 
Despite the above, we have brute forced a number of wins by having better players and a bigger budget than the opposition. If we get promoted we won't have better players and a bigger budget than the opposition. What do we do then?
I maintain that a manager with a more advanced approach to football and how to set a team up would extract better performances out of this team, and the deficiencies I see in Warne's approach will only become more of a problem as time goes on.

Perfect is stretching it. I think they just expect us to have 1 shot on target in a league 1 match and not put in such abject performances when the players we have are better than the players most in the division have… 

Dreadful performance. I don’t even know where to start, so won’t bother, but I will say I feel for the fans that went tonight. 
The last few weeks have been rotten to watch, performances have been really bad. Too much emphasis on results, rather than performances have seemingly led us down the wrong path. Standards need to be so much better than they currently are.
I’m still very much concerned that the people currently employed by the club don’t have the necessary skillset to achieve long-term. The recruitment and coaching is miles off where it needs to be, for me. I have no doubt that even if we did get promoted this season, we would be in for a long season next year which is a niggling thought that I can’t shake. 
Obviously nothing I can do to change the decisions the club make so I’ll continue to support (and moan) as it plays out. I hope I’m wrong, honestly, because I want success for Clowes and I’d like Derby to be seen as a relevant football team on the national stage again. 

I'm calling to sack Warne. He's obviously got no idea how to extract consistent performances out of this squad and either thinks the way we play is fine, or he doesn't know how to change it. Not sure which of those options is more concerning to be honest.
Even on our great run of form we only ever looked truly convincing a few times. Performances have, in the main, been rubbish for a majority of the season.
