Depends how you define failure .

Watching George Thorne at his best run Derby midfield wasn’t failure .

Watching Derby demolition of Forest 5-0 was enjoyable .

Would that be the same George Thorne who played in 8 years 57 games for the Rams and scored 2 goals after signing for £3 million so taking into account his wages of £10 million in that period so we paid him £2,500 for every minute he played for the Rams, and £6.5 million for every goal, he was pants as his entire career shows 129 games in 10 years and only 6 goals. Whats more Morris cannot be blamed for his signing.

Why is that good for the PL? It is the thing that keeps most of the games interesting at all.

Because it then becomes a franchise in the PL with no risk of failure and the value of teams there will soar to NFL levels

The Premier League will be absolutely delighted that the Football League are discussing how they can take more of their revenue from them. I learned very early, it's important to be self-serving in business. The Football League discussing how they can take more of the pie, yet I'd imagine many Premier League chairman will be thinking the very same.

Getting rid of parachute payments just won't happen. Nor, I'd imagine, will the Premier League accept a deal where they pool revenues. It's a nice idea, but clearly under-estimating the Premier League's compassion OR massively over-stating their hand. It's one or the other.

Getting rid of parachute payments is on the table with the big 6 who dictate the PL policies, as is an increase in TV cash, however in return the PL want no relegation from or promotion to the Premier League

This. There's some people on here who clearly don't have the experience of parents who refuse to accept any financial assistance from their kids, even when they're struggling. Self-respect is more important to some people than having an easy life.

It’s a generational thing a lot of young people now days think the world owes them a living and are quite happy sat on their ass playing on Xbox or themselves and do not see the value in working.

  5. I have just spent a few hours in the car and as such I thought would listen to radio dreary sport scene and talk sport with tango man and listen to what was said very carefully apologies to anyone if i a repeating what has already been posted but here are the things I gleaned;

    1. Radio Derby reported that Mel Morris had Covid for 3 weeks from 13th August and was on a ventilator for 2 weeks .

    2. On talk sport tango man asked the administrator if the end of the moratorium on the HMRC issuing winding up orders was the reason that the club was put into admin so quickly last Friday and surprise surprise the moratorium ends next Thursday so that explains the rush as the HMRC would have made a dash to the high court for that winding up order

    3. birch stated that more points deductions were more likely than not, so that is a definite then

    4. administrator stated there would be no exclusivity for any bidder, so it looks like an auction, which makes sense as the administrators are almost definitely on a percentage of the sale price.

    5. information sale memorandum out Monday I wonder how long until it is leaked on the web?

alll interesting points to my mind as these facts explain the process so far

Tepper invests/owns in a company called Andalusian.

That firm was set up quite recently to invest in companies across a few sectors, including sports teams.

    Yes good spot the critical thing for me is that Tom Glick is president not just of the NFL team but also the MLS team and as the former CEO of the Rams is ideally placed to give advice, I just checked out the fund and some info is as follows;

Total value in fund $800 million

Andalusian’s equity investments will range from $100 million to $500 million, said the person familiar with the firm’s plans. In addition to investing in the sports industry -- along with technology and media companies -- the firm has an affiliate called Andalusian Sports Partners, according to the filing. This company will provide sports-related advisory services and management services to “certain sports-focused investment funds.”

Meanwhile, Tepper’s sports interests have expanded since he became an NFL owner. He has been planning a new Panthers stadium and in 2019 Tepper agreed to pay a record $325 million to bring a major league soccer franchise to Charlotte. He was also among investors who helped Epic Games Inc., the company behind the blockbuster Fortnite game, raise $1.78 billion.

Would you lend money to an insolvant company?

It's quite possible a mysterious benefactor has provided the facility. Or perhaps the loan has gone to the administrator? Maybe Rammie was brought back to be used as collatral? He's locked in an attick somewhere in Chad until the loans are repaid?

It will be MSD, they need the club to keep trading/playing until they get their money back they have security already so it is no bug deal to them

Hmm...I don't subscribe to the GSE love in either but they brought our debts to zero, paid off the mortgage on the stadium, and then made their push.

It ties into what Mel said on the radio recently about making a big play "1 season in 4/5" rather than every season.

That is factually incorrect, they had a charge and debenture over the club and a mortgage on the ground when they left, these were paid off by Morris (see companies house documents). I have no love for GSE they thought they could make a fast buck they spent nothing then bailed out, I think being owned by Private Equity or a wealth fund is not a good move other than to take us out of admin, they would buy the stadium it is true but then leverage it again to get some of their cash back. We need a wealthy individual(s) with a medium term 5 year plan and super deep pockets, I believe the USA will come to our aid, I still think David Tepper will bid as he now owns an MLS club  Charlotte FC and there are obvious synergies.

The important bit is that it guarantees us getting through to January if Mel's £1.5m a month comment is to be believed

The £5m will not be able to be touched by the administrators for the club as it will go into ESCROW and will form part of the consideration if a deal is struck to purchase the club. it is basically a put your money where your mouth is statement and will rule out people like the Spanish school boy and the fake sheik

  10. Boro's P&S figures will imo not be compliant with the EFL regulation, I suspect that threatening to sue, and the EFL are the only party he could sue is part of a cunning plan to get leverage in the negotiations about his P&S situation, he will of course blame Covid but it looks like that ship has sailed.

minus 9 points would do nicely

Got a lot of respect for Wayne after that.

Every word he said was brilliant and needed IMO. Hard to sympathise with Mel having listened too.

I just listened his presser and I have to say I felt very emotional through it,  I am not at all sentimental but this bought a lump to my throat, I doubt there is another manager in all 4 leagues that I would rather have than Wayne at the moment, any criticism of him now would be tantamount to treason.

cometh the hour cometh the man.

  12. Alternatives to that's a great question,

"I've given that question a lot of thought..."

"I haven't thought about it from that perspective. ...

"I'm so excited that you asked that!"

"We love that question around here, and here's why..."

"This question keeps us up at night, too."

"That's a very timely question because..."

I know what you mean. I have two hopes though with MM out of the way the EFL ease off a little and with the massive total penalty we end up with this season combined with relegation sees that those who wanted a pound of flesh have it. The thing is as well at a certain point the EFL themselves will want it wrapped up, there are plenty other clubs that probably wouldn't be too happy right now to be investigated too closely.

Such as our close neighbours down the A52, they are borderline over £39 million for P&S with a lot hanging on this season and they have a squad of 199 to pay

My worry with what Rooney has said is that he will plan for League 1 if we get more points deductions, which makes sense, but he also said the EFL wont want that as it may discredit the rest of the Championship season - this may put off the EFL issuing us the additional point deductions this season and may wait until next season

This is a super bad idea as it will leave us open to more points deductions see EFL regulation 24

24 Requirement to Play Full Strength Sides in League Matches

24.1 Each Club shall play its full strength in all Matches played under the auspices of The League unless some satisfactory reason is given. In the event of the explanation not being deemed satisfactory the Board shall refer the matter to a Disciplinary Commission which has the power to impose such penalties as it shall think fit.

    Guidance

From the fourth Thursday in March, any team sheet for a League game should include at least 10 outfield players who featured on the team sheet for the League game before.
