Shout out for Unforgotten on ITV player. Just done series 4. A good, solid whodunnit. Less fanciful than line of duty , and the better for it in my view.

We have to be realistic, given our situation. I know a lot of people are against this signing, but this is probably the height of our ambitions going into the summer. Free agents on relatively modest wages and loan players. He's lost his place in the Luton team, so I doubt they're going to keep him around as he will want a pay rise going into the last big contract of his career.
It's the definition of the signing we shouldn't be making, but we've got too many needs and not enough money.

Really liked the previous few series. I'm making my mum wait until I'm back from Budapest so we can watch the latest one together.

I quite like Line of Duty.
I do think they've got themselves a bit tangled up in knots RE: "H" - I don't really think the guessing game of who they could be is that exciting, and I think it peaked in series 1 and 2, and been on a slow decline since then but it's still enjoyable and well acted.
Hope series 6 is the final one though. Unfortunately the BBC will probably keep flogging it for another 10 series.

Watched Fleabag over the weekend. Excellent TV, Phoebe Waller-Bridge is a genius

I would like to see Frank as the England U21 manager, much more suited to the role than the current bumbling idiot AB. He’s got a wealth of talent at his disposal and I reckon FL would get far more out of the lads than the current pretender.

    It’s a difficult issue.
I find Come Fly With Me absolutely hilarious. But I wonder how I’d feel if I was Asian, Chinese or any of the other minorities they rip the piss out of.
I think some people are too eager to be offended on behalf of others. But equally, I don’t think the ‘anti-PC’ brigade put much thought into how it might feel to be, for example, a gay person watching the whole country laughing at a gay joke, when that person has probably been given poo for their sexuality their whole life.
There’s room for sensible discussion somewhere, but I fear the resentment between ‘the woke’ and ‘the gammon’ is too deeply entrenched at this point.

The trouble with ginger jokes is that they're hurtful, particularly amongst children, and they're boring.
No loss to comedy if they die out.

bit of an over-exaggeration? Are there really "a number  of things being cancelled on a daily basis"? Or is it just the usual media tactic of hammering stories to get ad-clicks from the inevitable polarised reaction?
For what it's worth, I think that anyone should be able to joke about anything - but the flipside of that is that they have to consider the audience/platform and if they get that wrong then they can't be surprised if someone calls them out for it. They just need to be prepared to defend themselves or apologise (whichever they prefer). Taking the "oh it's PC gone mad" stance is a weak excuse. Be accountable for your words or STFU
Remember that this is a two-sided argument after all - you have a right to tell what jokes you like, just as much as someone else has the right to say that they don't find it funny. Works both ways. If you're really complaining that you can't joke about stuff without being told you're not funny, then is your skin really any thinner than the person who you deem to be "over-reacting"?

Comedy is subjective. And can also be complex, with multiple levels to a joke. Likewise some jokes are just mean-spirited blunt instruments
For example, if the sole premise of a Ginger joke is "haha they have orange hair" then it's not actually that funny is it? Regardless of whether it's offensive or not. It's just not a very subtle joke.
Whereas the Prince Harry/Ginger joke in the other thread at least worked on different levels. Taking the crap and tired cliche old joke about ginger hair somehow being regarded as a bad thing and saying "he'd done alright for a ginger" - when he's a filthy rich titled member of the British Royal Family - his ginger hair is not really the reason he's "done alright"
I think most people get the distinction, but quite often those who moan about how "you cant joke about x any more" are the people who simply aren't funny and need an excuse as to why no one is laughing at their weak gags

Chances are these days any takeover will be done by someone fronting an investment group. To me they all seem dodgy. I always think of Keith with his train set but thats just how football has gone.
I cant see this being anymore dodgy than the fake sheik and his vanishing millions

We recently watched Marcella Series 1 on Netflix and thought the ending was utterly preposterous. No spoliers, but we felt absolutley conned that we sat through so many episodes only to give us such a nonsense ending. We won't be watching any more.
For some really top-notch whodunnit/detective fiction however we have been watching The Bridge - currently available on iPlayer.  We are up to series 3 and think it's the best so far. I didn't think that was possible after Martin was written out. Truly outstanding drama.

Designated Survivor - Saunders out of ten for the first series descending to Izale McCloud out of ten by the 3rd series- where did half the cast go ?. Apparently there's no more either. Worst ending since Lost.

We know nothing of MCU in this house and really enjoyed it. Reason being they save any superhero action to the last couple of episodes. The rest is just great storytelling.
