Are you seriously saying that if we get promoted and Warne is still manager, then you will no longer watch? You won't even give it 10 minutes to see if it's working?

    I'll be 61 in June.
I had my first Docs (tan boots) when I was about 14. Polished them every day with dark tan polish and buffed them up with a cloth for at least 15 minutes each. They ended up a lovely conker colour that you could almost see your reflection in. Never did paint them, no 😂😂

My dad finally lost his battle this morning at the ridiculous age of 64.
Over the past month or so, he got stuck in a cycle of having excess fluid drained, the fluid coming back, being drained again, etc. The fluid eventually got into his lungs and, on top of that, he had the cancer in the background (which they couldn't directly treat because of all of the draining), and a skin infection that eventually led to sepsis. It was just too many issues for him to fight, even though he gave it a damn good go.
He deteriorated rapidly last night to the point of being very agitated and delirious, and I got a call from the nurses to come in at 3am. I knew it was the beginning of the end then, and the decision was made to withdraw treatment at about 11am. He went very peacefully within the hour.
Part of me wants to carry on like normal - go to the match tomorrow and have a few drinks after - but the healthiest decision is probably to skip it and have a bit of alone time to process it all.
I echo the last sentence of my previous post too - f*** cancer.

Absolutely he should get a chance in the championship if he gets us promoted. Would be pretty harsh to sack him if he got us promoted.

The restrictions of the BP are in place for the rest of this season.  I think he wasn’t anticipating we would need to make any further signings this season but now that we do we need to comply with the BP.  He did say they had to agree the Nyambe deal with the EFL, which was a similar situation.
Otherwise, when it comes to the next window we can operate the same as any other club.  That’s my take on it anyway.

I'm not sure your age rich, But there was a time in the 70s when we'd paint the outside of the rubber sole, I did my cherry red Docs in yellow paint, That night I put them on and I looked the bees knees, Walked across Chadd Park to my local...got to the bar and It looked like I'd gone trekking in the Amazon, Paint was still tacky and the Council had cut the grass on the Park...fcuk me 😬
Turps and a rag did the job but had to keep them outside near the coal shed to get rid of the turps smell 😮

You’ll hate Docs when they’re brand new - they’ll rip your heels to pieces until they’re broken in - then they’ll be super comfy for years to come…

What insane hype? The way I carry on is that I think we have a manager who can get us out of League 1 and I back him to do that. Any ‘hype’ is probably very much tongue in cheek. The derision however is not.
Hand on heart, I honestly don’t know how we will do under him in the Championship. It’s a 50-50 case. We could fall into the same cycle as Rotherham, Peterborough and the likes or we could do better. There is no compelling case for either when the Championship is as unpredictable as it is and it has teams who overachieve, underachieve, surge and sink from nowhere almost every season. It’s a case of wait and see.
But what I don’t want to do is write him off before the champagne bottles have even been popped and I certainly don’t want his experience at a different club in different circumstances with a different level of potential to muddy everything.
For you, Warne is limited and won’t ever change. Now if Warne had failed in the Championship with various clubs of various sizes and in various states, your stance would make complete sense.
The way I see it is if I go into a Ferrari showroom three times with £75,000, is it surprising that I come back with just a fridge magnet each time?
Rotherham have perennially struggled and almost exclusively battled relegation in the Championship irrespective of the manager in charge.
Derby have the potential to do more. Will Warne rise to that challenge? Why not wait and see?

Why wouldn't he be fit, he's been playing paddle every week. If I played paddle once I'd treat myself to a cream cake for having exercised, even if it was for only half an hour and I'd hit the ball a couple of times.

As far as I know, the positional stuff is all automated.  All the player positions are tracked throughout the match anyway, which is where sites like whoscored are getting their data from.  Players wear monitors IIRC, that tracks their position, as well as heart rates etc.  They are then basically comparing each chance (in terms of attacker position, distance and angle from goal, keeper position, defender positions etc) with thousands of similar chances from other games and seeing what proportion of those chances were actually scored.  This is where the discrepancies come in - how do you decide what’s similar enough to factor into your comparison, or which individual elements matter the most (is distance from goal more important than the angle or not etc).  This isn’t being done for each goal individually though, they will come up with a model where you can feed the player positions in and it will churn out an xG at the end.
Individual player abilities aren’t supposed to be factored in - it’s supposed to be how likely is an average striker (for the level we’re talking about) going to score this chance against average defenders and keeper etc.
