It’s more to do with the level these athletes are playing at these days and the toll it takes on the body. To get to the peak of physical fitness can often put you at a breaking point where you push your body beyond its comfort zone too often, leading to more muscle strain/tear injuries.
Plus with modern physios and doctors checking in on players regularly, these problems are identified much more regularly than they used to be.
Im not saying players from back in the day weren’t skilful, but the game was different physically and training wasn’t as intense as it is these days. This meant there were more rest and recovery periods for players compared to todays daily schedule for professional squads.

Nearly 20,000 home fans - I think that’s creditable given Bolton is not a big city and they’re down the road from the Manchester clubs. I respect fans who support their home town club rather than be tempted by the bright lights of big neighbours - eg fans of Orient, Stockport and - yes - even Wycombe who could easily be lured away to support a big London club.  

We look back a CBT's miss and think that we're the only team that miss sitters. Looking at this and watching Liverpool v Palace on Sunday makes you realise that other players, including 'world class' players also miss sitters.

Well, just this once let's make it easy, eh? They've never done that for us before so let us have this one as a little treat.

Just watched the game on the Bolton EFL Lounge - they were camped in Shrewsbury’s half - had one cleared off the line and hit the post in the 94th minute - my ipad nearly went flying across the room!!!  Fair play to Shrewsbury - complete back to the walls display - and rode their luck - but have done us a massive favour!! 🐏 💪

Just got home. Story of our season tbh. Didn't play that well but somehow still came out with the three points and the title.

Congratulations to Portsmouth who are promoted as Champions after tonight's results, which were:
Portsmouth 3 Barnsley 2 Bolton 2 Shrewsbury 2 Peterborough 4 Fleetwood 1 A fabulous draw by Shrewsbury means we only need 4 points from the final 2 games to guarantee promotion. Goal difference not quite enough to rely on just the 3 points. But if both Bolton and Peterborough drop points on Saturday, victory at Cambridge would see us up.

The other Saturday fixtures are:
Bolton vs Port Vale Bristol Rovers vs Peterborough

God no. Get it over with ASAP. I really don't get this desire for a mad, stressful, day against Carlisle. Id rather be turning up knowing we're up and having a bloody lovely time of it.
