Just finished Squid Games and strangely enjoyed it.. The acting was hard to watch in the first couple of episodes but was okay at the end.

I don't really get why Superman even has to have a sexuality?
When I watched Superman/read the comics (at the appropriate age of 10) I just wanted harmless fun like seeing him beat up robots or stopping a runaway train with one hand. I mean, it seemed to me that Lois Lane completely ruined the whole thing and just made his job more difficult because he couldn't be in two places at once.
Kissing, interspecies, gay or otherwise was not what I wanted to see and adults introducing all their problems into things would have just ruined it for me.

I'm flying to Turkey on Thursday. Asked for a Covid Pass a month ago.  A week later a letter came saying i had only had 1 vaccination.
My NHS app only has record of 1 vaccination, but a different one to the letter.
1st October i rang up 119 and gave them the dates, times and batch numbers of both jabs. They said someone will ring within 5 days.
On Monday (11th) having had no phone call and NHS app not being updated, i rang my GPs. They told me they would update the app that day.
On Tuesday (12th) I rang the GP to book my flu jab and they said they could print me a letter. When i picked it up, they said it might not be accepted and they had updated the app today but it would take several days to update. On the news about GP letters not being accepted.
Today (14th) no update. So rang 119. They said the 5 day thing was 'advisory only' and they were busy. He said he could ask again but it would take '5 days'
As it stand i'm not going and will lose my flight money, as it is 'my fault'.

    Of course its agenda driven, they even say so;
'The idea of replacing Clark Kent with another straight white savior felt like a missed opportunity'
'Kent’s sexuality is not the only way in which the character has been updated for a new audience and time. Recent issues have seen him protesting against the deportation of refugees, stopping a high school shooting and trying to put out wildfires that were the cause of the climate crisis.'
    https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2021/oct/11/superman-bisexual-dc-comics
Updating characters for a new audience always sets the alarm bells ringing.  Does anybody really care if you have a gay couple living across the road these days or whether you've been to a lesbian wedding or not?  Maybe a tiny, tiny minority but as far as I can tell virtually everyone else is to busy living their own lives to concern themselves with the business of others.  Live and let live n all that.
I think what the modern left do is try conflate being homophobic in real life with people having their favourite shows ruined.  Numerous shows have submitted to the twitterati, gone woke and gone broke.  Do comic book readers want gay storylines and heroes protesting against deportation of refugees etc or do they want them fighting megalomaniacs and space aliens etc?  How did Dr Whos ratings go after the series took to following politically correct stories for example?
A footballing analagy would be the EFL finally getting their way and liquidating us then telling us to go watch Forest instead - its football, its the same division, what are you - bigots?
Personally I don't think its the far right that shout loudest when changes happen but genuine fans of the show that see their favourite characters rewritten for a new audience.  Stuff the legions of fans these characters have - yeah we'll take the money and adulation they have given us over the years/decades, but they can all get lost now, lets reinvent the character and the storylines for a modern audience.  A modern audience that typically has no brand loyalty and have all moved onto the next thing to moan about anyway.

I’m afraid unless we are in the prem and in there for a period, none of your ideas are realistic, but I agree less sells more.  But also, no matter what price the shirts are, there’s the hard core supporter who will buy no matter.
If the nearest club is selling for £50 then we will.  That’s business mate.

Angry Ram reacted to uttoxram75 in Factory jobs
I've been elected to represent the factory based salaried staff in the Consultation meetings regarding the "proposed" closure of our factory.
Had our first meeting today and it was quite brutal. We're ducked. Its an old site and due to several changes of ownership in recent years leading to no investment, coupled with mental increases in the price of flour, sugar, palm oil, and energy costs over the last 18 months, there is no way back.
    We are not financially viable.
We have been through severe restructures in recent years, chopping jobs left, right and centre to no avail, the company that owns us does not want to modernise and invest so we will close in March 2022.
I've worked there for 42 years. Started as a machine operator in 1978, ended up as a Shift Production Manager, covered the Operations Manager role for a period when the site was between owners. FFS, I met me missus there!
In a small town like Uttoxeter, I have seen kids and grandkids of lads I first worked with start their working life at the factory. Had blokes coming up to me in pubs demanding to know why their lad had been sacked, had people begging me for jobs, my wife has been threatened because I had to sack somebody.
I have also had people come up to me and thanked me for giving them confidence to improve their lives, people who I used to work with who now run their own businesses who always buy me a pint because they were inspired by me. I can't express the feeling that gives me.
My son did his engineering apprenticeship at the factory and is now the Operations Manager for Aggreko in Asia. My daughter worked there for a few years part time running the factory shop and now runs her own business.
We used to do Evening shifts, Lunch Time relief shifts  etc that appealed to mums who wanted a part time job to work around childcare but we had to stop all that as we got taken over by different companies. We were a factory that was part of our community.
Its a sad situation but I will do everything I can to negotiate the best possible deal for the people who have asked me to represent them.

I'm a bit emotional and had a couple of drinks so time to call it a night.

There will be a lot of that, but on the other hand 140k people have died of covid in the UK. It's absolutely right to look at how many of those deaths were avoidable and who could have done more to avoid them
Arguments like "in hindsight, how was I supposed to know that I really ought to have attended those early COBRA meetings?" and then ruffling his floppy hair with a hapless look on his face, won't really wash IMO

Well surprise surprise, the report on how the country dealt with the pandemic is published. The first thing the government do is throw the scientists under the bus as they attempt to distance themselves of any blame.
And where's the leader of these cowards, the person that went missing at the start of this national disaster? Hiding in Spain, so no change there

agree, imo he's similar to Levy at Spurs. Runs the club and it's finances superbly. It's the fans who are the issue, most demand £40+ million pound signings when the owners know it's not poss.
Both highly successful businessmen who use their experience excellently in applying it to running their clubs.
