  1. The potential transfer fees we’ve lost in the last year or so due to restrictions is frustrating. Could’ve paid good chunks of debt back.

festy, ebosele, lawrence all left more or less for free. Could have given all three one year deals and got at least £1m each. That is very conservative too.

Buchanan and Byrne as well, got minimal fees from both of them.

now knight going into his last year and maybe issues around activating his contract. Think £4m for knight a minimum if has at least a year on his contract.

bird, cashin, sibley all out of contract at end of next season too.

Exactly how I think we will line up, I feel like Warne prefers Collins in away games where its going to be more of a battle & McG at home when we can create more space for him

We’ve played a lot better with mcgoldrick as the 9 than Collins, would start mcgoldrick every game as the striker if he can.

much rather play Collins in the cup, league must be priority.

I'd be dead against it, unless Curtis wants to move. That lump Bolton had on loan from Southampton, Dan Nlundulu, he was winning every header, holding the ball up and even beating defenders – although it always came to nothing. However, Davies's knowhow sorted him, and Roberts/Forsyth were then winning the heading duels. He became anonymous in the second period and totally dominated by our defenders. That's something you can't buy, experience and knowledge. It had been sorted out in the dressing room at half-time and having Stearman (now more a coach), Chester, Smith, Davies and Forsyth to call on, that's our trump card. As much as some fans moan about the age of our squad, they are proving to be as fit as any 20-year-old from other teams.

I thought Davies really struggled against him personally. First half got turned at least twice. Did get better the second half.

lad wasn’t a lump at all either, would love a striker like him in our squad.

  4. Like others have said, we’re about to lose quite a lot of cover at cb. Stearman never lets us down but looks more immobile whenever you see him. Similarly Davies body was probably a lot more forgiving when in rhythm of playing each week. Great person to have around though and always be a legend here.
Chester really struggling injury wise too.

after that have fozzy who is getting on and had 3 knee injuries, is playing brilliantly though.

and cashin now linked with championship clubs.

is probably a good time to start looking at options for cb now.

  5. Really solidified a top six spot though. Think we’re six clear now. No one was expecting top two.  Feels a bit like a free swing at it. Is about 2 points a game to get promoted. We’ve been at that, we need a run of a few wins in a row to close the gap.

Top six this year, hopefully win play offs. If not would be expecting top two next season.

it’s been really enjoyable as well, has you looking forward to next games, looking at the table etc. feels long overdue to have a good run.

Those 8 minutes in a dead rubber in the Europa Conference League back in August look unfortunate. If he can't get into the Swansea team I'd be surprised if he now makes it into West Ham's. Is there a loophole I wonder?

It’s such a pointless rule as well. Not sure what it achieves?

  7. I wish I saw the promise people see in Stretton. I just don’t get it. You’d really want to be standing out in league two at the age of 21 if wanting to play higher too.

What exactly is his strength? Hold up play, pace, finishing, work rate?

also regarding his playing time, if we signed someone from Carlisle who‘d scored 2 in 8 starts and 9 sun appearances people would lose their minds.

2 goals and 3 assists in 804 minutes in the league (1 every 161 minutes)

For comparison, our top 5 in the league so far are:
    1. McGoldrick - 106
    2. Mendez-Laing - 180
    3. Osula - 221
    4. Collins - 229
    5. Hourihane - 235

If he can’t get in Carlisles starting eleven though it perhaps raises a question on the validity of your stat.

  9. Happy with this, he probably needs to play more. But wasn’t what we needed. Touch let’s him down but was a real danger running on to things. Can see him doing well for a lower side.

gives us room to bring someone else in who can hopefully play more.

Barely had legs last time and barely used in a team doing what we want to. Isn’t even better than what we have, and is older.

Common theme on this forum is that players seemingly never age.

I think he is better than what we have at certain things. Bird and hourihane certainly more talented footballers but it doesn’t really click with the two in cm. They feel too similar.

shinnie would be a huge upgrade on Thompson.

Was at times covering every blade of grass mate and the only one in the centre of the park snapping into tackles. Common theme on this forum is downgrading of players who have left too. Just my opinion mind.

Yeah I don’t remember shinnie being a let down at all, like you say you was an absolute workhorse. Him and bielik was possibly the best midfield we’d had in years, but only played about ten games together.

If we get another left back in what happens to Roberts?

He can go back?! Not a bad player but he’s not going to play centre back. If he can’t get in over sibley at left back then he’s probably not what we need. Could use the loan spot better. And he could go somewhere and get minutes.

I just get the feeling 3 at the back is what PW will be looking at long-term... We're good in midfield IMO... Maybe need someone with something a bit different up front.

So probably a quick RWB, quick LWB, relatively quick CB and a CF (in that priority order). Whether all that is doable under our current business plan remains to be seen though!

I hope not, we look awful playing it. Every team I watching playing it struggles as well. Spurs and Chelsea both pretty dour.

we need a left back and right back though, striker too! Winger if being greedy.

don’t see the point in cb or can cover personally.

  14. Happy to win that, we’re pretty close to a good team I think. Need to find a way to get knight into midfield. Think I’d drop hourihane at this point.

similarly we need another option up top, Collins not offering a lot. Not against dobbin playing there with mcgoldrick. If warne doesn’t fancy Osula for more than ten minute cameos then we probably need to change him.

everything else is looking good though! Back five are smashing it.

Two things to take from that

joe wildsmith is an absolute breath of fresh air compared to the goalkeeping heart attack that was kelle roos, im literally never worried when the balls start being fired in his way which is the biggest compliment i can pay him.

other thing, i know we probably cant but would love to get that young ginger bearded lad off them, looked a v good player

Was he the left back? Agree if so!

  16. 1 hour ago, jimtastic56 said:

I respect your opinion but cannot agree. I would rather have him in the squad than Beilik. You don’t have to be 6’3” to be a good midfield player. Look at Iniesta , Foden and alike. He is a very good passer of the ball, he is stays fit and covers a lot of ground. Warne just has to work on the lads confidence.l would not have a problem with putting him in v Cambridge.

Thompson over bielik is genuinely insane.

If you think Thompson is one of the worst Derby players for years either you've not been watching Derby very long or you have a very short memory.

He's not had the greatest season when he's played but then he's not really had much of a run.

He’s been pretty bad this season, think the going backwards despite dropping a division is the issue.

he was better in games when we were mainly defending and pressing. He’s pretty limited on the ball for a centre mid.

i struggle to see him having much a career at derby, happy to be proven wrong but just looks way out of his depth. Happy to be proven wrong.

do think he looked a bit better in a couple of games, Torquay and Pompey on tv possibly.
