    Wildsmith.
Probably deserves a thread on him but found this for starters.
So hope we get to tie him down to a longer deal in time, he was massively underrated by Owls fans and yet he’s flourishing here, now he’s a regular keeper.
This is his big breakthrough season and he’s got plenty of time on his side as a keeper. We keep finding decent keepers and Joe is going to be right up there.

We had a clear out a bit ago, I was ready for a tip run but she said I've put it on "random acts of kindness".......ended up with folk moaning that they wanted free stuff delivering and at times to suit them. I did a tip run......

It's not Talksh!te is it? Red Nev couldn't really reply, could he? He normally has plenty to say but Hislop just nailed him right and proper. There is a 3rd way Gary, don't take the money and denounce the regime etc..

That's Aileen Getty. Of course, her money comes from the family trust fund which in turn comes from her grandfather's oil business. But it seems that she's never had any involvement in the family business, involving herself purely in philanthropy. It appears that Getty Oil sold their reserves to Texaco in 1984, so it's hard to see where the meat of this particular conspiracy lies, other than the Getty name. It's not hard to see why the link is being pushed by the fossil fuel lobby though.

Why can’t they cut Gary linekers wages that would provide a lot of money for local radio. Shocking move by the BBC.

As you may have heard on Saturday on Radio Derby, Tony Bentley had his last game as Burton summariser - according to him on Twitter it was down to new BBC policy. Steve Jordan who presents the weekend shows also suddenly left his role over the weekend. Then today, @Owen87ITK tweeted his sorrow to his BBC local radio friends on today's news. Basically all the different counties stations are having to merge for most programmes. Radio Derby's Sport at Six/Sportscene will be going with the cuts, to be replaced with a joint Derby, Nottingham, Leicester and Lincolnshire programme. This is also happening with the non sport weekend shows, afternoon shows with the night shows being totally replaced with one national show. Rest in peace regional radio, what a loss this is. I really feel for everyone affected, especially the likes of Dominic Dietrich who's only just started with Radio Derby.

Man is a celebrating animal. Hallowe'en is part of those celebrations which mark certain times of the year. As an ex teacher I think these occasions are brilliant to give children a sense of chronology as they find it hard to make sense of time. Christmas, birthdays, Hallowe'en, bonfire night etc all help them to measure the passage of time,.
Lots of youngsters round our house tonight. All lovely,  polite and made us miss our teaching days with these wonderful young folk!!

Pisses me off when people call it begging. It’s fun. Kids dress up, you reward them with a celebration.
I love carving pumpkins. We’d get one for every member of the household (5 of us) and I’d ask the kids to design their own on paper and then I’d recreate it on the pumpkin. Each year mine have got more elaborate and I’ve perfected the art.
now the kids are getting big enough to have a go themselves. I’ve been well busy over the weekend, so I’ve passed the torch for most things to my daughter.

Some cynical folk could be forgiven for believing the powers that be have allowed those student protests to go on while having the ability to control hundreds and thousands at genuine protests, so the draconian, soviet type controls of the Public Order Act can go through without public outrage.

You have to remain hopeful, but the real danger is that there are so many ecological tipping points from which, by definition, there is no reversing. The most likely scenario is that it will take a tipping point moment for people to accept that we need to actually act and start pulling together, but by then it may be too late

I guess the point is that people don't know about the more palatable protests happening outside parliment. Not very newsworthy and no clickbait anger to drive.
As a species, I think we are more or less screwed. We are hopeless at working together on any large scale as we are all inherently selfish.
Our only hope are some huge technological advances that allow us to live our lives as comfortably as we do now, with no sacrafices necessary. Maybe living in huge futuristic buildings raised above the water, that protect us from a poisonous atmosphere?

It's a good question. I think people (including scientists) should have an open mind. An argument for that is how the current scientific orthodoxy believes in dark matter and dark energy (I don't). But if you think these things exist, then you accept (this isn't controversial at all) that 96% of the Universe is made up of stuff we know nothing about and cannot see. All our laws of physics (and other scientific theories) only apply to 4% of everything.
If we accept we know so little, we've got to believe there's plenty out there we don't understand.

i think that some apparitions we call ghosts and are unresponsive to the people seeing them are scenes from days gone by.  i told a story years ago here about one such happening in my family that got me thinking this way.
Ghosts, elves, spirits, these things are accepted as being real by many Icelanders.  My wife and i are house hunting these days and we have looked at a few houses.  If the spirit is bad in a house, it matters not how cheap it is or beautiful, we will never buy it.  The same goes for used items and antiques, as we believe that negative and positive energy can settle in solid matter.
