I was looking forward to seeing Darren Robinson play last night and was initially disappointed he was playing right back. I was also disappointed about his lack of positivity. He hit a few passes to Wilson on the wing but the majority of the time passed back to Bradley and occasionally across to Cashin. It was almost as if he wasn’t confident enough to play forward passes. His defending was ok. I was disappointed at half time.
BUT as soon as Cashin & particularly Bradley was substituted he was a different player. He became very positive, bombed forward, crunching fair tackles, forward passing. Hugely impressive 2nd half and can see why they think he has a good future. Either someone told him to be more positive 2nd half or when the senior players went off he felt more comfortable and became the leader of the pack.
Very  impressed with him along with the other academy players.

You might say that but that doesn’t make it true.
I’d say the overwhelming reason McGoldrick went to Notts County is, as he said, a chance to end his career at the club he supports (or words to that effect).

Anyway, McGoldrick did OK under Warne’s man management style didn’t he? The best goal return rate in his career.

Any evidence to back up what appears to be yet more speculation and supposition?
    McGoldrick said the following when he joined Notts;
He said: "It has been a difficult decision for me to leave Derby County, but it has been a huge ambition of mine to play for Notts County again before the end of my career.
"I’ve been honest and open with both Paul Warne and the club about it in recent weeks and they’ve been supportive and understanding.
“If it wasn’t for the fact that I had the chance to return to Notts, it would have been a no-brainer to stay at Derby - regardless of interest from any other club.
"I really enjoyed working under the gaffer and his staff, playing alongside the lads and, of course, performing in front of the brilliant fans at Pride Park. I want to thank everyone for making me feel so welcome in the last year.

"I had a wonderful season with Derby and to score 25 goals and three hat-tricks made it such an enjoyable time, the best in terms of goals for me personally in a season, and actually made the decision such a difficult one.
"I’ve had many conversations with the gaffer over the last few weeks and he really did do everything he could to keep me at Derby but, in the end, I have decided to go with my heart and return to Notts."

Warne clearly has some limitations as a manager, plenty of things that can be articulated and supported with evidence as many posters on here do (some of the regular observations include lack of game time for youth players, one dimensional tactics, a lack of in-game management, using players in unfamiliar positions on the pitch). The unsubstantiated claims about his man-management being a failing in the face of evidence to the contrary isn’t the bold statement you and others seem to think it is.

Nor me, was really struggling to see why he played the 90 minutes. Just move bird deeper and get another attacking player on.

It really wasn't same old same old, you must be watching a different game to me,,,what was same old was our wasteful woeful finishing especially Barks who I still think gives us something. playing like we did today all we need is a good striker also Washington is a good foil for a good striker

Thought on the whole we were much better than some of the away day dross  this season
They were lucky to get a draw even though on paper it looks like we were fortunate keep playing like that on the front foot and we'll be ok, as I said its better than some of the performances this season IMO

We deserved at least a draw we kept going and tried to play football on the floor for most of the game but we did look to open at the back and our midfield gives the back four very little protection. Not sure what Korey Smith offers at times he doesn’t protect the back four and going forward he’s just not good enough.

Haven’t read through the thread so probably an unpopular opinion, but I thought in the main we played well. Certainly better, even at 2-0 down, than in some recent league games.
The game showed up very well where we are strong and where we need to strengthen. Our approach play was excellent. Warne cannot legislate for Foz falling asleep or Bradley being unable to hold off his man. Or some of the poor quality pull backs from promising attacks. We all know we need a decent striker in the window. If cashin goes we will need a first choice centre half as well. We should have had the game with by half time but we didn’t, and as soon as we gifted them the second they just parked the bus.
To be able to play through 11 human beings camped in their area it requires the technical skill of a good Premiership team - as I type this watch how Liverpool are struggling to get through Luton - as we are a reasonable to good league one team.
Rather than just moan and think we should be smashing a team who are good as at least a quarter of league one teams, I’d praise the fact that they stuck at it and managed to get a result which looked highly unlikely at 88 mins.

the only way warne survives is more exeter and northamptons, and no more of the turgid dross he's been serving up in all the other games.concentrate on how we play, instead of over thinking, and trying to match the opposition

Well in that ‘pre-arranged meeting’ Mr Clowes must have said, ‘FFS Paul, how about playing some exciting football that our fans can actually enjoy before you end up emptying the stands’, because the football on Tuesday was a transformation from the rubbish I watched at Stevenage. Long may it continue.

Yes Washington drops off his marker at times and comes for the ball to feet and at other times is prepared to stretch there back line in behind
his finish was excellent last night and I really think give this line up the chance to keep the shirt including. Cashin
I’ll probably get pelters for this but sometimes Cash has to make last ditch blocks and tackles etc but there are times it’s because he has not been in correct position to start with ….still a good player but if he’s going I’d give Bradley the chance now to keep the shirt ….would be unfair now to drop Bradley after a good performance and he’s waited long enough for a full game

Where has this been? Much improved playing it on the floor and excellent movement off the ball. Washington led the line well and Bird and our 2 wide players were a real handful. Northampton were probably the worst team I’ve seen at Pride park though but still a good performance.

I don’t agree with this idea that it’s now our turn to get behind them and cheer them on.
I’m sure we all got into football because it’s an entertaining game. We pay money (be that for a ticket and cost of travel or travelling to far off places to be able to pay for RamsTV) which many of us struggle with at the minute, in order to go and be entertained and have that enjoyment.
The players, manager, coaches, etc get paid well to provide that entertainment. It’s not on us to mindlessly cheer each week, it’s for them to give us something to cheer about. We’ll sing and cheer and bounce if we’re entertained but it comes from them in my view. That has been missing recently, the entertainment has gone!
If the football is poor and boring then the atmosphere is likely to be negative and why shouldn’t it. Why should we accept paying money to be bored and frustrated for 90mins?

    Yes and no.
You can make it easier for the player tactically. If hoofing is the easiest option and you don't want that then you can tactically set up the team and coach the team that their is a different default. And you play them where their current capabilities lay.
Hourihane has never looked the absolutely most comfortable playing the deepest midfield role. He's too peripheral, hasn't got the best tactical awareness and is only ok under serious pressure with the ball.
He's not got the legs for serious midfield running anymore but he can still be a difference maker in final 3rd, so... use him as that and don't expect from him what he can't do.

That's something that's concerned me since early in his reign, his only answers to problems are:
    1) work harder
    2) be more aggressive
    3) get more crosses in
That's it. Right in his first interview there were comments he made that worried his view of the game tactically was narrow and all we've seen since backs that up.

To be fair, he's not talking about his signings.
He is talking about Bird, Hourihane, Sibley, Smith, Barkhuizen,  Mendez-Laing, Cashin, Fozzy.
They'll all be gone at the end of the season and then we'll see what a Warne team is really like.
I'm not looking forward to it.

Paul Warnes interviews are so cringe. WTAF - so embarrassing that he takes zero accountability. He’s gone from Cheesey self indulgent and unfunny to petulant, clueless and a total mardarse.

my team don’t fight like dogs .. no paul .. had you ever seen Connor Hourihane or max bird play before?

we have a soft underbelly .. nope I think you do you little princess who has to keep jibing the fans in interviews who are sick to death of watching pure sh@te .. but you want us to keep clapping?

what a shame you didn’t decide to grow when you came here. I guess that’s what DC had hoped for.

you and Richie can blame the fans and players all you want. You must hate it. You don’t know what to do about it and you are banging yours, the players and our heads against a brick wall.

Supported this team since the days of Peter Taylor and have never been so against a manager.. even Phil Brown!
This club, our club is not for you I’m afraid. There will be clubs for you. You can’t fluke three promotions. Our club though isn’t for you. You are not for our club.
if someone else comes in now they have time to work with the squad and assess if they would like to amend it in January.

we don’t need someone with three promotions (though I totally get the logic) we just need someone to allow these players to play. We have all seen that when they rebel and play football these guys can score goals.

I’ve never managed a team whose fans are against the players … we’re not against them you …. It’s you we’ are against. clapping the fans  from near the dug out .. you are so petty and cheap. You begrudge the fans… and your football is crap.
so as I said our club is not for you. You are not for our club.
