Malagaram reacted to TigerTedd in Trick or Treat
How about this. This only just occurred to me this year.
clocks go back the last weekend in October. That means the sun sets less than an hour after schools kick out. Most kids aren’t allowed play out after sunset. That basically means kids are grounded for 6 months.
So haloween marks the last night they can really go out and have fun (normally with some sort of parental supervision).
so just as Christmas, if you’re not religious, could be described as an all purpose winterfest, to steer clear of SAD. Haloween is sort of an all purpose autumnfest, celebrating (honouring) the end of summer, lamenting the start of long nights, but trying to find the joy in that.

You are right Tedd, should have written "Honouring their loved ones "

Dia de los Muertos,The day of the Dead,a day to celebrate the death of loved ones and the life of those presently living, and yes it is real,in Spain the older Spanish go to the cemetry with food and drink and pray for their departed, and spend the night with them in that cemetry, who here would have the nerve to spend a night in a graveyard.
And Tedd is right the tradition was brought to Spain by the Mexicans.

Got it in one. Basically, as I have taken on more and more of the catering side of the household, she has, on occasions, managed to perfect a disappearing act and just let me get on with it.
Perhaps she now trusts me. If she does make an appearance (usually right at the end), it's with a cheery "Need a hand?", knowing full well the answer will be in the negative.

Malagaram reacted to ziggyram59 in Nuno Espirito Santo would you replace him as Spurs manager?
Yes that's what I can't understand, his 1st season in The Championship they were playing fantastic football and his 1st season in The Premier League but last season they played in a similar way to Spurs this season and the Wolves fans didn't like it and they got rid of him and now under Bruno Lage they are playing a lot more attacking style again.

Malagaram reacted to Van der MoodHoover in MoodHoovers Miekle Moments
He's a bit of a poorly boy at the moment.
The start of fireworks and game shooting has exposed a high anxiety level which is needing medication to tone down his adrenal gland so he doesn't associate loud noises with the need for flight.
The medication has sadly had a side effect of mild incontinence, so toilet training has gone out of the window. Literally on occasion!
On top of all that he's picked up an ear infection which needs further medication.
And when Mrs VdM mentioned to our vet that he's always drunk a lot and wee'd a lot he's suddenly wanted to start taking blood and urine tests for congenital kidney and urinary tract issues.
The latest odds have swung firmly back towards him not being suitable for assistance work, but with all his issues Mrs VdM has let it be known that she cannot let him be rehomed anywhere that isn't fully empathetic.
For once I agree. So odds atm is he's going to be kept as a family pet.. But there remains a slim chance he'll work his way back from all this.
I'll keep posting and working on it. Decision isn't imminent I don't think.
Thanks all for all your continued interest and kind messages.
Love MoodHoover xx

Your Miekle reminds me so much of my Lab Jet,she absolutely loved water and retrieving game from ponds, rivers.
She had Drakeshead lineage in her pedigree and as such was a good bitch for water retrieves.
Hope all goes well.

So have I got this right? We've spent what seems like the best part of 2 years being ordered to "take part in discussions" with The EFL, and now they are sending us to Coventry?
Bamfords!

If someone said "let he among you who is without sin, cast the first stone", we would be buried under an avalanche.

I hope some of you guys will be rooting for Buxton in Saturday's 4th qualifying round tie away to Kettering. Just one match away from being in the hat for the 1st round proper.
Apart from Chesterfield, the only Derbyshire side left in the competition at this stage. Should be featuring Jamie Ward, who's scored around 9 goals since his arrival mid August.
Come on you Bucks!

Malagaram reacted to Woodypecker in A Reality Check: Best Wishes to David Brooks
With all the strife and aggro about DCFC's situation and the angst over our 'fate', with points deductions and relegation possibly on the horizon, it's as well to check back to reality, with a fine young footballer, Bournemouth's David Brooks, now diagnosed with lymph cancer.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58903956
Here's wishing Brooks a successful outcome and with best wishes from Rams fans.

Trevor Hemmings, the owner of Preston Northend, and 3 times owner of the winner of The Grand National, whose horses ran in his famous yellow and green quartered colours died last night aged 86.Owner of The Blackpool Tower, among many other businesses,he bought PNE in the 70,s when they were in financial trouble.I would think their players will be wearing black armbands on Saturday, and the usual 2 minuites silence before Saturdays game.
