Jamie Thras doing his poem before kick off was inspirational. Theres some pride and passion in Derby and Rooney and the players are feeling it.

I thought Ravel was great today. Obviously should have scored his chance, but pulled the strings amazingly well.
One of Max Bird's best games for us too. Seems to have really come into his own again recently.
Throughout all of the recent debacle, I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed that performance today. Players and Rooney are giving their best for us, and that's all we can ask.

I haven't watched the game yet but there is something poetic in the goalscorers today. An academy lad and an old pro sticking by us when he didn't have to vs a player from an era that led to the current mess.

Devastated this morning , very very proud now , the boys fought like lions , well done to Wayne and his staff , the way they are motivating the team to run through brick walls for the fans is absolutely brilliant , one last thing , Curtis Davies , what a player , what a man , love the guy , you could see what it meant to him at full time , immense performance

Just in from a phenomenal afternoon at pride park (had to drop the number 1 son back at Nottingham uni afterwards)
Almost had us in tears at the start of the game as the crowd was the loudest and proudest I've ever heard it and the players reacted to it as soon as they came down the tunnel...even they were in awe of the noise and the stoke fans were immediately shocked into silence.
Immensely proud of the team today who all fought like lions and of all of the fans who continued to be relentless in their support.
I love this club and I'll support it whatever is thrown at us and wherever we end up.

Quick word for Ravel who was simply magic in the first healf playing 2 killer balls that should have ended in goals. He looked distraught when he came off wondering if his miss would be pivotal.
    Superb talent.
Chin up rav. Bang the winner in on Saturday at sheff.

Not sure if someone else has put this up but a bit of class from Michael O’Neill
“We had two really good chances before we did score, but I can't begrudge Derby the win, they've had a really difficult 24 hours.
"I thought they showed great spirit in how they played, the crowd were terrific as well."

Fantastic game today Roos and the defence were again immense but nobody stopped working across the pitch. Went with Grand Kids for their first game and even in the North stand it was loud to the extent that the youngest (6) was struggling to cope with the noise the eldest (8) got right into it ‘when’s the next match can I go’ a proud day to support our great club UTR

Wow. What a day. It was special. A day I will never forget. 17,000 Derby fans but it may as well have been 30,000 such was the noise and every fan 100% behind the team and the coaching staff.
Then the game. What a performance. Some superb counter attacking and glimpses of real quality. Ravel at times today (especially in the first half) was equal to Stefano Eranio   with those passes in the box, magical. Stunning goal from Max Bird who was also outstanding in the first half (what a player he is). Baldock should’ve scored, Ravel should’ve scored, we should’ve been 3-0 up and out of sight but then the Ince goal made it nervy. That said never had any doubts we would close it out. To a man the players were superb today and showed they care. Likewise Rooney and Rosenior.

I was in tears at full time, so proud of all of them and for the fans unbelievable support of them. It felt like we’re in this together. duck the rest of the football world, duck Mel Morris, no bitching about 3 wins in 20 odd and Rooney isn’t the right man. Everyone backing the team backing the coaches backing the club, backing each other - as one. It was truly special.
Its to be a part of days like today is why I’m a football fan and why I love this club so dearly. It will be a bumpy road but if we stick together we will come back stronger!!
    COYR!! ?????????

    This.
He made mistakes learning on the job last year, he might make a few more, but considering the bum hand he’s been dealt, he’s showing his leadership and fighting characteristics in one. He doesn’t flap, he’s not moaning, just getting on with the job.
What is clear, the players believe in him and are not just playing with pride, they’re actually implementing his tactics remarkably well, given the threadbare nature of our squad. For all Rooney has done wrong, lacking maturity at times, he’s actually proving a good mentor to our youngsters and the whole team are responding to his tactics.
Going to be a long season, but Rooney comes across with far more sincerity, than anything we’ve heard from the boardroom in a long while. His comments on the staff losing jobs for me were both heartfelt and genuine.
Whatever happens, his stock is rising amongst Derby fans and rightfully so. Keep up the good work Wayne ?
We as fans should believe in him.

When he first said his job was to bring the dignity and pride back to the club a while ago, I raised an eyebrow, particularly given what happened later that evening.
Wayne Rooney has many talents, but I thought that was something of a stretch.
Yet in a time of crisis, it turns out he is actually a real leader, and has the emotional depth and intelligence to become a figurehead.
I wanted him gone last season, even started a thread saying so, but recent events have made me re-evaluate his contribution.
He's the leader of the resistance, and today was a test he pulled off with aplomb.
More tests lie ahead, somehow this might not be the darkest moment, but I now see we've got a steady hand on the tiller.

    Rams players 'had no information'
..."I spoke to (chief financial officer) Stephen Pearce after, but initially I saw it on the TV," Rooney said.
"This morning it was a bit flat because, by me not getting all the information, the players had no information and they saw it on Sky as well.
"I haven't spoken with Mel. I am sure he has got other things on his mind.
"I've had no contact with Mel for a while now so it's been very difficult for me to address the fans when I don't know what the situation is.
"All we can do is play with a lot of pride. My job is to bring some dignity back to the club.
"I've said a few times I'm committed to this club and to the group of players and the staff, I care about them, so I'll keep doing everything I can to help us get through this.
"I think we will get through this for the better. We are going to have tough times ahead in the near future but it's my job now to start rebuilding this club and trying to put it back together."

I'd have scored a point if I believed Mel had some humility. The latest Club statement confirms he doesn't.
I personally never liked the fact our chairman courted as much publicity as he did. He enjoyed his profile while the times were good that is for sure. Talk Sport appearances, self-appointed spokesperson for the League seemingly etc. But the measure of a man isn't how visible you are when things are going great; it is how you conduct yourself while times are trying that defines your character. Doubtless he has clearly had health issues (which I wish upon noone) but I suspect he would've' been perfectly able enough to pick up a phone on Thursday/Friday AM and tell Wayne directly of the situation the club was in. And indeed other staff who have worked for him. He owed them that. It takes bravery to do this and in doing so admit your failing but he absolved himself of that responsibility and allowed the press to do this work for him. Absolute disgrace, shocking and disgusting. 0/10 as a result.
The fact we as a club have lost our stadium to this man and now face the prospect, should we survive, of paying rent to the guy who walked away from HIS debts left in OUR club is the true measure of Mel Morris.

Posting this today feels a bit like driving an ice-cream van through a war zone but here goes. They can't take away our history...
Matchday 9 – Saturday 18th September 1971 & a visit to Stamford Bridge to face Cup specialists & media darlings Chelsea
Derby took the lead here through Roy McFarland after half an hour but were pegged back with a second half equaliser (Tommy Baldwin) in front of 42,872

    Match report here

Programme of the day still revelling in Chelsea’s Cup Winners Cup win from the previous season..

    Derby’s point in West London couldn’t keep them in 2nd as Man Utd won - Sheffield Utd also won & extended their lead over the Rams to 3 points;

Matchday 8 – Saturday 11th September 1971 & a visit from Stoke to the BBG
Stoke weren’t a bad side, had quality like Gordon Banks & Jimmy Greenhoff in their ranks & won the League Cup later that season. But the Rams were in merciless mood & thrashed them 4-0 in front of 32,545. Goals coming from Todd, Gemmill, O’Hare & Hinton.

    Suffice to say the nationals were reasonably impressed;

Derby's dominant win kept them in 2nd place - Sheffield Utd’s home draw with Spurs meant the gap at the top was cut to 2 points..

Yep. Completely miss the big story, then take it out on Rooney because the people you should be holding to account won't talk to you. Journalists are so scared of having their 'access' revoked that they end up failing to do any actual journalism. But what 'access' do they really have? They just get a free ticket to the match and all these meaningless press conferences. I wish someone had been actually holding the club to account over the last few months rather than cravenly going along with the 'nothing to see here' line.

It was the one before (Ostigard on 77 minutes)!
Derby to win, both teams to score, 2+ bookings each team, 4+ corners each team, 50/1!
Confess I took the cash out and settled for £550 on 80 minutes. Wonderful we won and I'll forego the extra £200 for that. Watched us throw away a lead too many times. Brilliant win and I'm very happy. And contacting the administrators first thing Monday morning!
