I'm afraid all that does is to kick the problem down the road for a while.
Derby County is broken, and Mel is the person solely responsible for breaking it.

This has been a slow burner for me....but I am now really angry at his actions. The vast majority of his wealth is still in tact but he lets the Rams go to the wall through his own incompetence. Despicable......

I'm another one that loved the fact a rich fan took over and has tried to bring success, the academy on the face of it was the right thing to invest in, raising the profile of the club with the gamble on Lamps was something I applauded, giving a young English ex player a chance (I'd still love Jody Morris to be involved again down the line) and it nearly worked, it wasn't Mel that screwed up the team selection for the final!
    But
Talking of his health, take a moment for the health of some of the 25k+ fans, not everyone is resilient and can shrug their shoulders at the situation,  some (maybe only a few hundred) rely on the Rams for socialising, camaraderie and a purpose, you can already see some people struggling with the uncertainty,  @B4ev6isis a perfect example of people that live and breath the club, take a moment and think about their wellbeing,  because a certain MM hasn't. Let alone those that have been in furlough from the club for best part of 17 months and are likely to now be out of work!
Even if he has a grand plan (I'm still clutching at straws) to somehow allow DCFC to carry on by using the administration route, the way he has run the club in the last 2 years is appalling, and if he ends up sitting in his Palace with PP and the Academy buildings still in his name, and no club.... I don't know how he can sleep at night.

We already have an adult and a 6-12 season ticket. But have just booked 4 tickets for the Swansea game for the rest of my family.
All we can do now is get behind Wayne and the players. COYR.

    Was administration really necessary?
Mel blaming covid but we are pretty much out of covid.
We're getting fans back in the ground, our wage bill with the players that have left and the max £4.5k PW for new players must mean our wage bill is at the lowest i  years
Surely money coming to money going out looks a lot better
If HMRC & others are calling in debts then surely he has enough money (if he cared) to do a directors loan to the club at zero interest & pay off all debts & loans which would put us in a better position than paying interest
He literally doesn't care. If our accounts fail then take the points.
Surely morris is still a very wealthy man.
Thissituation stinks more because it feels like he wont sort the mess he created or fund the club rather than can't

How much do we reckon Mel owes the Club then? Do we send the bailiffs round to his gaff?

I'm led to believe this is all factual, although his remaining cash flow is very much debatable. I would imagine that he's still very cash rich and in possession of one of the most expensive pieces of real estate in the city of Derby - which he seems to account into his losses when it really isn't.
I don't want to be too graphic again in my thoughts of Morris, again, but I am no fan of his and do believe what he has done puts him at the very least among Maxwell and Amigos in terms of Derby County owners. At the end of the day, when the dust is settled, he will be a very lucky not to go down as the worst owner in the history of this club - potentially the killer of this football club.

Can somebody correct me if any of this is wrong.

    (i) Mel has led us into this mess
(ii) He still has over £300m to his name
(iii) We owe HMRC £27m and need to settle total debts of around £50m
(iv) If the above three are correct then is it unreasonable to think the decent thing would be for Mel to reduce his fortune to around £250m by settling the debts?

He would still be the person responsible for damaging DCFC's reputation and plunging us into relegation turmoil through points deductions but he would at least be respected for taking the financial hit as a consequence of his numerous mistakes. Not to mention safeguarding jobs and settling debts to small local businesses.
Allowing administration to happen whilst sitting on £300m is obscene.

Mel took on a club that was in a good position at the start of his tenure. He had a duty to our historic club and its large fan base to either maintain the status quo or take it forwards. I spent 31 years in primary education and I can only liken it to a school which was a good school with good results when the new head took over and then ended up in special measures so extreme that the school may have to close down. I know that schools are not football clubs but such mismanagement in education would have set alarm bells ringing very quickly.

I know its easy to say this when u have no money like i do lol but i think it boils down to this..... mel made a choice, his money or the club! He chose his money, simple as!

Mel hasn’t tried to ruin the club, but he is guilty of financial mis management.... but this scenario where he has put us into administration and washing his hands of us is exactly what you say, as a conman would do. He should be paying the debts. There should be a banner made stuck on pride park stadium that reads in big, pay the debts Mel. He racked them up through his decisions at the club. He may have well put a lot of money in previously but it was Mel Morris‘ decision to become the owner and sign off on big money deals.

I could perhaps get behind that idea.
When we were trying to get rid of Maxwell, we absolutely bombarded him with a simple message: "Why won't you sell Derby County for a fair price?" - some of them to his fax machine at MGN, to him in person etc. The publicity and the message was relentless.
I think that Mel will try to extract the highest price he can for Derby County in order to recoup as much of his losses as he can and not, as I thought until recently, to secure the best future he can for the club.

He has zero to do with the issues we now find ourselves in, but he has acted with utter class.
He's had no money and is playing a number of players he knows aren't good enough (at least at the moment) without a word of complaint publicly.
He's just got on with his job and tried to get this team playing decent football with one hand tied behind his back, wearing lead boots and being made to wear a balaclava the wrong way around.
And then he hears about going into administration on TV like the rest of us and rather than whining or walking out he gets on with his job.
I really like what I'm seeing, especially when you consider he's in his first year of management and the second youngest boss in the entire football league.
He should have control of this team if/when he has money to spend, or at the very least until the end of this season.
If he does walk or get pushed, I for one will be bitterly disappointed.

Ultimately, whatever Mel has said and done. The fact is he bought the club, he authorised the contract and signed the cheques in a gamble to get us into the premier league, it hasn’t worked out and he should be the one paying for it now. The guy is a wealthy enough man to keep the club  afloat for many many years to come. The simply fact is he doesn’t want to.
How does this persist? Why when it happened to Wigan and Bury was it not sorted.
FFP\P&S is a broken system… it allows clubs to loose £39 million over a 3 year period before anyone takes notice?! Bury can’t afford to loose £39m and now they are gone.
I have said for a long time now, and I heard G Neville say something similar at the weekend. There needs to be real time regulation of clubs. There needs to be a way of making owners accountable. Let’s use the example of Mel. Mel bought Derby and he was reportedly worth £500m apparently he still is?! But let’s say he’s not and he’s “only” now worth £100m. He’s still got £100m that rightly (unfortunately not legally) should be in the club.

Morally how is it right that Mel has £100m but the staff member at Moore farm won’t be paid and they will have to beg borrow steal to buy a loaf of bread now?
Why is it that Wayne Rooney is paying for the teams away trips?
Why is is that loyal Derby fans who paid for their season tickets and asked for a refund during the pandemic were ignored?!

Something has to be done in future. Owners should have to personally guarantee their clubs liability’s over and above their incomings. Even if the there was some protection to owners - for example If you have an owner worth - £500m they have to personally guarantee the club until their down to their last £10m.
Maybe then when Mel was hell bent on promotion, he’d have thought more about the contracts he was signing! He’d have thought harder about sacking Clement, Pearson, Cocu. He’d have thought harder about appointing them and he’d have know that if this goes wrong it’s going to cost him most of his fortune.

However, this is not the case and Mel can now got to bed tonight sleeping like a baby, knowing that his money is safe. I genuinely believe he thinks he’s been hard done by here and it’s not his fault. Mel if you’re reading, pay off the debts. We know you can afford to. Just leave the club in the same state that you found it in.

This is the most important thing we can do. Create some income to limit redundancies and player sales, make us attractive to purchasers and support the team.
If you haven't got a season ticket, buy a match ticket.
If you have a got a season ticket , encourage a mate to come or if you can afford it, gift a ticket to a mate.
Encourage friends and family to come.
If you can afford it and know someone who can't afford to go, gift them a ticket for this game.
If you live too far away and can afford it, gift a mate or family member from home,
If you are thinking of coming and have kids, bring them along.
Do whatever we can to fill the ground v Reading.
We've been let down but now it's our time, our time to stand up and save our club.

Three classic comments from the interview:
    1) My putting the Club into Adminstration gives it a better chance of finding a Purchaser it desperately needs. Mmmh. Really not sure it does Mel. Let’s be honest it is much more the case that you are simply not prepared to put any more money into the club, notwithstanding you are still comfortably in the top 500 richest people in the UK.
    2) No one can continue to put money into the club (£3m pm, down to £1.5m pm more recently) in perpetuity. Mmmh. I wonder who created the income/expenditure imbalance and indebtedness? Any ideas Mel?
    3) I’ve been prepared to sell the club for £15m less than I bought it for. Mmmh. Did the club have a Stadium and a decent team when you bought it Mel?
I have had little time for this guy since around 2016, and today he confirmed all my worst fears.

Don't get all upset that he's lost or invested circa 200 million - a lot of this was from his terrible, terrible mistakes and having to try to cover these through buying the stadium because he breached ffp. Hes walked away with a stadium that noone will buy if the admins want a quick, cheap sale. It's his now and doesn't sound like he will hand it back. This should be donated to the city or something similar and shouldn't be a bargaining chip in any future deal. His mistakes and his losses, not the clubs. Tragic we've lost the stadium and have racked up so much debt when we were on a strong financial footing before he bought the club.
