TimRam reacted to SSD in Millions and billions
I think one major aspect is living within your means. I appreciate it's really difficult at the moment with costs of every day life. From all the podcasts and books I've read on money over the years, a key theme I see is many rich folks completely cut out "wants" at the beginning. I see so many people who have taken on loans and debt who cannot pay it back quickly and they are stuck with it for potentially decades. I read somewhere in a paper that car loans account over a quarter of the average full time worker's salary for many under 30s. It highlights this desire to buy the newest, shiniest thing. New phone, new car, new clothes etc.
I'm not exactly stating this will make you a millionaire. Cutting back on wants, not needs, will always give you more security financially.

I went to a midnight auction with a friend, because we couldn't sleep, and I bought Ronnie Barker's duvet for £5. My mate then bought Ronnie Corbett's for £3, so it was a good night for me and a good night for him.

Win on Tuesday and we finish the night top of the league, that's guaranteed. There should be no bigger incentive than that.

TimRam got a reaction from Big Al in How to be a dad, any advice
Mum and Dad did just this. I never recalled them arguing in front of us kids. They also worked as a team be it cooking, cleaning etc. Only domestic they did separate was Mum washing clothes and Dad any heavy diy.

I'm gonna don the tightest "bonnét de pedant", and give a hypothetical thumbs down to this, as their catchphrase was good night, not goodbye.
I know... and I'm very sorry.

Yes and just a handful of people are responsible. Put them on an island somewhere for them to argue and fall out amongst themselves. Let the rest of us live in peace.

It didn't take Pakistan to long for retribution now did it, Would you want to fcuk with a nuclear power, Lavrov now threatening the USA and UK with WW3 and nuclear weapons, China concerned with North Korea supplying Russia with munitions.
World goods are now travelling around the Cape so their cargo ships will not be attacked by Iran backed Houthis, An extra 10 days journey with an estimated cost of £1million each cargo ship, Eventually I guess this cost will be passed on to a customer somewhere down the line.
Are we heading for a new world order? or just a load of Sabre rattling, Wars come at a price and it's the innocents that pay.

TimRam got a reaction from GboroRam in Post office scandal
Agree with all this as I speak from experience. As long as the pms report to management that the project is on time then it will go live. Techies like me can shout all they like that it's not ready but the priority is always it goes in on time. Also a lot of the pms are not technical and it's a huge job to explain something without them glazing over. The problem can also be enhanced by a lot of the technical teams making descisions without considering the impact on others further along the project chain. So glad I am no longer in an office.

TimRam reacted to Alty_Ram in Derby V Burton match day thread
Agree with this. "Could have got a draw" and "Deserved a draw" are two very different things. Stats don't always tell the full story but Burton really offered absolutely nothing for 45 mins and the balance of chances and possession was pretty emphatic.
We certainly lost the plot for a bit but it wasn't a reflection of the match as a whole which should have been much more comfortable. I'm not bigging up the performance as a whole because it was very flawed but we did more than enough to have had a comfortable night. The main lesson was that we have to be better at managing the game and not invite teams back into a game.

You can dress it up however you like Tamworth but to me it seems that we are bombing Yemen to protect commerce/trade whilst allowing the massacre of civilians next door.
Fcked up world mate.
