Yes the overfamiliarity/pals act regards the last 2 matches/managers has been annoying. Its not life and death obviously but not a get together with mates either esp good old "shrews"

Good job no one has a shot of sambuca for every time Collins is offside as they’d be leaving pride park via St John’s

Really agree with this. Was noticeable today that the crowd was really giving it a good go at getting behind the team, especially in the build up to Bird’s goal.

This carried on for a few minutes after the goal and then we reverted to type, poor and misplaced long passes, no fluidity in possession and head tennis, and it sucks all the life out of the ground.

The result today was frustrating and yet we’re somehow in with a chance of promotion, but this season for me has been really flat to watch. I won’t care if we’re promoted come May, but I’ve lost a bit of enthusiasm this season and I don’t think I’ll be the only one.

Until they change the rule from the game being active when the corner is taken to active when the ref blows the whistle then this will continue.

That's the result of playing it from back to front too quickly with players not able/quick enough to get themselves back onside after pressing and ending up behind opposition defenders.

Very frustrating, particularly given Bolton & Peterborough dropped points.
As others have mentioned, conceding late goals at home is becoming a recurring theme with this team. There seems to be a real reluctance to a) hold onto possession & b) slow the game down. We drop deeper when protecting leads at home & on the break, seem desperate to make the killer pass to score a deciding goal. Problem however is that the ball is often lost from the flick on/speculative ball/run into a load of their defenders...they then recycle the ball & come back at us with our defensive shape pulled out of position.
We can point to weak defending for the goal but we shouldn't be conceding the ball so easily in the first place. Get the ball on halfway line? Hold the bloody thing up & play it simple to move the team up the park. This is basic stuff we're not doing & it's going to cost us.

Great result against a very good side, well coached by a manager recently sacked by the team 21st in League 2.

    Exactly this
The fact that he's trusted to be the penalty taker surely counts in his favour, and somewhat diminishes the stat-pad argument.
There are or have been plenty of teams where their main striker isn't the designated penalty taker, and I have in the past seen people use this as something to criticise the striker for, ie 'he's a good striker but only with instinctive finishes, useless when he has to use his brain or the situation requires composure' so some credit for taking them is warranted.

You're conflating a number of different issues there.
If anything the people who 'view the world of Derby County under dark clouds', IMO, are those who constantly bring up the restrictions, talk of shopping in the bargain basement, harp on reminding people we were in administration 2 years ago, say things like "we're a League One club with League One standard players" (or even making out people would laugh at how average our squad is) and use other teams' failures as reason we shouldn't expect success ourselves, even though every club is approaching the season from a different perspective and with their own challenges to face. It's those who treat ambition as arrogance and entitlement.
The work we put in behind the scenes immediately following coming out of admin, and the squad we assembled in that short time (plus our 'leftovers'  Bird & Cashin who are very clearly Championship quality players) have put us in a better stead to go at a quick return to the Championship than many other teams, regardless of what they themselves do. The fact that we managed to secure a manager with Warne's record speaks volumes, but he does need to live up to the hype he was imbued with upon his appointment. Currently the results are doing that, but it's not a particularly convincing watch.
Peeple 'demanding promotion' (who exactly is demanding promotion?) would be doing so because they can see that we are, or we should be, capable of it.  People react to bad results because they fear we might mess the chance of promotion up - and a chance as good as this season is unlikely to present itself again anytime soon. It's a s*** league, and we don't have to be much above average to get out of it.
As for the team and the signings being crap, I don't believe anyone actually thinks or has said that individually any of Warne's signings are 'crap' players (if anything, the players who've had the most individual criticism have been Hourihane, Bird & Collins), but even so you don't have to be a crap player to be a poor signing, just as you don't need to be an outstanding player to be an excellent signing.
It's all about the blend of the team, but our over-reliance on one or two players pulling something out of the bag for us has been evident all season, and until the signing of Adams we haven't really come close to getting that balance right, despite the results.
Quite frankly anyone who thinks we have a crap squad is talking out of their arse, even some of our, ahem, 'less glorified' players have certain qualities which are fit for the league above even if their general play and/or age prohibits them from playing there regularely.  We have a great amount of experience running through the squad which may be the reason we're not choking (and hopefully don't go on to chopke) in the same manner that others are.
It's all sunny from my perspective - aside from not rating the manager! (in terms of long term suitability)

    Noted.
However without wanting to call out individual members, I would say some do give off that mutually exclusive tone.
Granted there are others with singular issues, I mean on the the signings we have a current topic on if Clowes has lost faith in the recruitment process!
Not wanting to throw Sage under the bus here, as I say, not wanting to call out individual members I don't have him down as we should be walking the league type, even if I think it's a little extreme of a question to put out there.
Barely spent any money whatsoever and sat 2nd, some signings maybe haven't shown their worth as yet, show me any club that has a 100% track record. Fergie may have signed Ronaldo, also signed Bebe. I would think Clowes maybe sat in his office rather pleased with how it's all going and justified in not bowing to calls to give Warne the boot.
It just drains you a bit, there has been times like under McClaren where the forum added to the overall feeling, was a fun place to come on and spend time. Draw our next game, you can guarantee there will be calls for Warne to be sacked like there was the other week when others were having to defend their opinion of now isn't the right time.

Statistically, Fornah was similar to Smith. Fornah also played as the '8' when at Reading, similar to Smith's role at most clubs he's been at.
Warne commented that he expected Fornah to be more like what we've seen from Adams.
Adams and Smith are very different players, so signing a player with similar attributes to Smith and expecting someone like Adams could be considered "poorly researched".

Fornah was a poorly researched purchase, who we only wanted on loan initially, and was signed without any clear evidence of an understanding of what his abilites are or how to fit him into the team.  As I said on the Adams thread, I'm glad we've rectified the mistake (to a degree, because we still have Fornah taking up a wage) but it shouldn't have been made in the first place.
If we wanted him to offer the same attributes and impact as we got from Adams it might have helped if we actually played him in the same system a bit? Rather than shoving him in as the more advanced mifielder in a two in front of Korey Smith.
He made his debut on 26th August but it wasn't until 8 games later he featured in the same midfield as Hourihane & Bird, and he's only had 272 minutes (182 in the league) across 5 games on the pitch at the same time as them since.
    4 wins 1 draw
Notts County 2-1 Derby 90 mins
    Derby 2-1 Bristol R 12 mins
Port Vale  0-1 Derby 89 mins
    Derby 1-1 Wycombe 15 mins
    Derby 3-1 Lincoln 66 mins
The way it's being twisted toward being Fornah's fault is a bit odd IMO

tbf, we've just nabbed their most dangerous player off them for a measly fee and then not even bothered to play him against them, and they've just signed a load of players seemingly at random who'll need (apparently) a few months to settle, signings not even chosen by the manager who's had about a day to come in and analyse the whole mess, all while on a 13 game winless run, so they've got a fair few excuses for being a bit s***.
It does always amaze me how much people big up other teams squads while making out ours is average.

Agree with this. I was frustrated by our inability to slow the tempo of the match down & way we were surrendering possession when they had the ascendancy. Couple of times late on Collins got the ball from a break & tried to flick it on rather than holding it, looking for an easy sideways ball & enabling the team to move up the field. Earlier on in the match, there were a fair amount of 'aerial hooks' to no-one in particular (Hourihane particularly guilty of this) which enabled them to receive possession easily & come back at us.
The team obviously deserve credit for defending with real purpose (especially late on) but the point is it maybe didnt have to be so dramatic if we'd controlled the ball better.
