For what it's worth I think the reason we are all so racked off is that Warne has been going on about adding a striker for weeks, and the club have done a crap job about being explicit with any restrictions we may or may not be working within.

The perception will be that the club has over promised and under delivered and it looks like we'll be limping home this season having apparently learned nothing from last season.

Exactly - the communication has been f***ing awful.

'There are no restrictions'. Except there are.

'We're confident on getting a striker'. No striker... In fact, let's loan one out.

    Always over-promising and under-delivering. Fuming.

Yes its true us footy fans just love a new signing , its the excitement of seeing there debut, wondering if they're going to be a hit or not and willing to get the deal over the line, i remember wracking up a huge phone bill phoning the DCFC 1884 hotline where you were teased at the beginning of the automated message with a snippet of transfer news which was right at the end of the message and was usually recycled nonsense that you now hear on the DET but the call was expensive , premium!! and cost too much !! ...so for a bit of fun whilst we wait for our beloved Rams to conclude a deal and swoop for our next hero a bit of fun

A/ Which signing did you not  like or was keen on but turned into a great signing in your opinion ?

B/ Which signing did you want so much yet turned out to be not so great ?

C/ who pound for pound for what we paid has been our best value for money signing ?

D/ who has been the worst waste of money

    my answers are

A/ Wasn't over keen on Marco Gabbiadini but in the end  I loved him, great signing and some great goals and a great name !!

B/ 2 for me Gordon Hill from Man U and  John Robertson from Forest

C/ again 2 for me Dean Saunders and Paul Goddard both brilliant for us

D/ Claude Davis and Mikkel Beck but there has been many

Answers just off the top of my head. Probably missed some very obvious ones.

CKR. Everything I'm not a fan of in one signing - an aging journeyman striker with a pretty terrible goal-scoring record. Ended up loving him and he scored some crucial goals for us.

B/ Which signing did you want so much yet turned out to be not so great ?

Jozwiak. I loved that we were finally looking abroad and thought we'd got ourselves a proper gem. Flattered to deceive, to put it lightly.

C/ who pound for pound for what we paid has been our best value for money signing ?

Either Chris Martin or Craig Forsyth, purely for quality and longevity. Both integral parts of the best Derby team I've seen in my time.

D/ who has been the worst waste of money

I don't want to but I'm going to say Bielik. Superb player when he was fit but £10m for less than 50 appearances is horrendous value for money.

I've heard that Fornah is going to Wycombe on loan, possibly permanent at the end of the season.

Via the same source, Cashin to Brighton and Bird to Hull at the end of the season pretty much confirmed.

Take these with a pinch of salt as these are secondary rumours.

I'm sure this point has already been made but, not only is it fantastic to see Derby signing a young player in a position we desperately need to improve in, but it's also so great to see us splashing a bit of cash!

Goes to show that we have got the money to spend if we feel the deal is right and are willing to do so to secure Warne's main targets.

Definitely makes me feel at ease about our financial position and about our owner's willingness to get his wallet out when needed.

Get your point but I wouldn't exactly call him young - he's 26.

Apart from the Peterborough wingers who would cost millions for any club, I would say CBT is definitely one of the best wingers in the league. A mate of mine is a season ticket holder at Tranmere so went to a few games with him and you could tell CBT had talent but wasn’t the finished article. Stats wise he is having a quality season and I think he’s the kind of player Warne will get the best out of. Look how NML has been since the first few games and Barkhuzien has really hit form recently.

What I’ve noticed recently in games is how we’ve been decent on the counter attack. For example, Birds run for the Barkhuzien goal against Fleetwood. Another goal on the counter is Barkhuzien’s goal against Leyton Orient. Apart from heading and kicking this league is very much counter attacking and he’s perfect for that. A very very good signing.

I think that if you were to come up with a top 5 list of League One wingers, CBT and NML are certainly in there.

The other three probably all play for Peterborough.

  6. A deserved win and a decent game of football to watch.

Don't agree with the comments that Burton deserved a point. They had two chances in the entire game (both of which were gifts from us) and, besides a 15-minute spell where we sh*t the bed, we were in complete control. Replay that game again and, 9 times out of 10, that's a 3 or 4 nil win.

Wilson MOTM for me - absolute star. Can't wait to see him, NML, and CBT on the pitch at the same time.
