LittleEatonRam reacted to Ghost of Clough in Tony Springett - signed from Norwich, loan to end of season
Last Tony to play for us? Dorigo?

LittleEatonRam got a reaction from Carl Sagan in The offside rule
Offside should be offside. No 'not interfering with play' nonesense. I've always wondered why a forward can be deemed not intefering with play but a defender cannot, i.e. if a defender is across the opposite side of the pitch and would not be able to get across in time to make a challenge, then he should be deemed not interfering with play and therefore it's offside?
All the current rule does is add another layer of subjectivity to offside decisions.

I'll say one thing, and that is that you don't get many footballers called Tony these days.

I like that.
Not something I'd considered before, but a very good point.
"If a player is not interfering with play, then they shouldn't be on the pitch" to paraphrase one former esteemed Quarndon resident.

That is outside the box. Considering the initial contact/foul would have been before this too, I don’t know how you can claim this is inside the box? Both of Kane’s feet are well outside the box and he is already going to ground.

I was just wondering why are they rooted to the bottom of their league. They don’t seem that bad.

Having all three subs come on and do absolutely nothing didn't help our cause this afternoon either.

Some of our fans on twitter having a go at Warne are absolutely ridiculous.
No team would get relegated from the Championship, come back for pre season with 5 players and get anywhere near to promotion from League One. The fact we're 7th is a miracle in itself.
We don't have a right back, we have 2 wingers (Ones injured) the squad at full strength is unbelievably short. Take 5 regulars out and we're threadbare.
The game management today after going down to 10 men was so poor. But these players make such poor decisions at times, going directly against what they've been told to do.
All Warne can do is work with what we've got, which isn't a lot. Get through this month, get some of the injured players back and get to January.
We need at the very least a right back, a midfield enforcer and a winger. But I think we'll get more than that.
Clowes said himself that there will be a period of consolidation.

The ball hitting Stearman on the head in the area, whilst he was looking in the wrong direction, and that almost resulting in a handball decision about sums this half of football up.

Crying out for one of those three centre mids to put their foot on the ball and calm things down. All playing like amateurs.

The equaliser is coming isn't it? I can see it now, as if it's Edward Woodward.

I think Derby are hurting Derby more than the ref. They're fecking awful.
I don't see many games. Last I saw was Ipswich when the commentator was describing Hourihane as a cheat code because he's that good.
That was another game where if you played midfield for Derby you could also claim the dole without anyone finding out.

This where keeping the football really is key to seeing out matches. Not trying to play threaded balls through. Constantly giving them the ball back.

The most frustrating thing is that at 2-0 this was one of those textbook 'just don't do anything stupid and we're fine' games, and we've done something stupid.
