  1. Good win. Very good first 30 of the second half.

The trio of McGoldrick, NML and Sibley showed a lot of promise at times. Good movement, interchanges and allowed us some flexibility at times in midfield. Some promising signs. Typical that we concede just after going 2 up, they like to make us suffer. Back 3 solid and Knight and Roberts looked good. Exeter weren’t great, but that was better. We’ll done lads 🐏🐏

Sibs can have the bite. That's not the issue. The real issue with him is that he  kept getting  stupid yellow cards out of frustration. Sometimes with teammates sometimes with the oppo. He was making tackles that were fouls for no footballing reason. His bite should be standing up for himself and not taking crap. That should be done in a hard but fair manner. His reactions were silly and not anything to do with having bite. This season he has almost eradicated the silliness from his game and is better for it. He still goes in 100%, as if he means it, and he does. He's merely cut out the stupid retaliations and is all the better for it.

Last season, if given a run at Left Back, he'd have been facing suspension after 8 games. Much more controlled this season. A season in which he's played LB, DM, wide right, wide left, striker and the number 10 role. Is it any wonder he hasn't made progress?

I disagree. He has lost his bite. He gets bullied off the ball more than he ever did and has lost an edge to his game. I go back to the Man Utd cup game, he had a great battle with McTominay not giving an inch. I’ve not seen that in the last 2 seasons. I’d rather the odd petulant booking than meek shadow performances. I feel he’s gone too far the other way and it’s had a negative effect on his game.

I agree, the switch in positions has had a negative effect, I made that point earlier. It beggars belief why in this league, when we had Roberts fit, that Sibley wasn’t played further forward.

When built, the foundations laid were sufficient to allow extra room to be added to raise the capacity to 44K. Not sure what the current state of play is but under previous ownerships, the plan was get back in the Premier League, play the first season with the current capacity and, provided we avoid relegation, do the work to increase capacity to 44K.

The foundations are strong enough, despite their being a Foxes shirt embedded in the concrete, for the extensions, the plans are there, planning permission is there. All we need now is a 2nd consecutive PL season and 44K will be a fact.

44k would be way too big for Derby. I’d hate playing in an almost half empty stadium. 33k is perfectly big enough for our size.
Second rate sounds a little harsh, but the stadium suits Derbys standing. It’s big enough and of a suitable quality. We’re not one of the top clubs in the country, it was built 25yrs ago and clubs have developed stadia in that time. No big deal.

  4. I think that’s the point @David they’ve been messed around which has hindered their development, Sibley more so. He should have been ‘the one’. Rooney ruined him and he’s not recovered. He needs that bite in his game that many have criticised him for on here. I hope he can come good. I’ve no idea why managers haven’t played him in his best position. Such a waste.

one of the only things i remember about that game is everyone singing 'goodbye john gregory' once the third went in

He got abuse from all 4 sides that day. Warren Barton had a retirement game - shocker!

A midfield of Burley, Lee and "other" until Kinkladze was sent on to try and recue a point with 15 minutes to go. We've pulled that stunt on numerous talented players who allegedly never showed their true worth,  but in reality were hardly ever given the chance.

He played 90 games. He was given a chance. He was substitute a lot because he was never fit. When he did play, he didn’t produce the Man City magic much at all.

Oh come on. He spent a large proportion of his time on the bench or out on the wing. Spot a recurring theme, with the only thing missing being played at left back.

He also got neck ache when he was in midfield from looking up watching the ball wizzing past 3 miles in the air.

His best position was in “the hole” behind the strikers, but was only played there once - against John Gregory’s Aston Villa. He ran the match and we destroyed them. I can’t actually remember the next match, but it is highly likely that he was back on the bench for that one. 🙄

He wasn’t a poor signing, he was a wasted one.

I think you’re letting his reputation cloud your views. In a Rams shirt he was average. He was always injured and never got a proper run of games. Looking at him now, he wasn’t disciplined enough to look after himself.  A luxury as we knew he was. He didn’t really produce the goods. We went down and the cycle continued, despite him winning POTY in the champ, we were terrible that year and were near the bottom.

Remember him being very good when we beat Leicester.  A win that should have seen us escape that season.  Remember him being not so good stuffing his face at a Donut stall in the Eagle Centre like clockwork on a Friday.

Was that Leicester away? I thought we’d do it after that game. Gregory nearly pulled off the great escape. Overall Kinkladze was injured and only showed flashes. A luxury in a declining team.

Yes Warne liked 3 at the back when he was Rotherham. Not done it at Derby, due to not having enough central defenders available so far this season. With Cashin, Davies, Chester, Forsyth, Stearman and Rooney available, now's the time to play with 3 at the back, bulk the midfield up and release 2 up front.

He may have favoured it at Rotherham, but we don’t have the personnel to play it this season. We don’t have any wingbacks. Mendez Laing, Barkhuizen etc are knackered as it is playing out wide in a 3 let alone being asked to get up and down the whole side. When we were on it, they were out big threats, don’t nullify them as a wingback. Dobbin, no chance. Roberts maybe but no one can play right side unless Knight swapped again.

Centre backs can’t bring it out well enough. Sibley wouldn’t fit in and who would the top 2 be?? We barely have 1 forward let alone 2. He may try it out of desperation, like Rowett did. It shored us up then. I’d rather we didn’t though with the current players.

Putting aside how we played and whether we 'deserved' anything from the game as football match results aren't decided on merit rather on goals scored and conceded, it still gets me how Harvey White being tripped in the box didn't lead to a penalty to us to potentially bring it back to 1-1.

Almost identical to the one given against us at Plymouth that won them the game.

It does not matter whether their player got the minutest of touches on the ball or not, the laws of the game make no mention of this.

If the ref judged it was not a penalty, then White should have been shown a yellow for simulation. I'm sure the yellow he was shown together with the Peterborough player was for the fracas that ensued afterwards.

I was stood near the incident and didn’t think it was a penalty. I may be wrong, but I can see why the referee didn’t give it.

Warne doesn't have a plan B because we don't have enough players for a plan B. When you look at our bench, where are the game changers? They bring on Poku and similar, we just don't have the luxury. Tactically smashed them first half, but as soon as they change formation we don't have the flexibility to respond. We're a squad of old men, and we get actively worse when Collins is brought on.

I disagree in some ways. I don’t buy this plan b malarkey. If Plan A is good enough then it only needs tweaking, no top teams ever completely change to plan B.

Today was a game of 2 halves. We were great first half but created little. They were the opposite and buried us 2nd half. Our midfield was poor. No bite, overran. Warne didn’t react. Bringing Collins on when our midfield was over ran made little sense. Sibley should’ve been the first sub. A midfield of Bird, White, Hourihane is too lightweight.
Massive struggle for the playoffs. Time to step up Derby!

Is that really surprising given it was thrown together? Been over performing all season and now lack of depth really starting to bite.

Regardless of how this team was put together, if we don’t make the play offs this season will have been a failure. We’ve not been over performing. The quality in this league is very poor. As someone stated before, we’re flat track bullies. Too good for most in this league, but we’ve got a poor record against the better teams, even though I don’t think they’re that good either.

Onto today, White was poor as was the whole midfield. When we signed him he was a ‘false 9’ play in the whole, etc. Yet we play him in a sitting role today. Bizarre. He can’t tackle for toffee and can’t read it either. Knight needs to up his game. Bird is a massive miss.

Is this the right place where we can stick Grealish in the same bin as Bamford?

I wouldn't have him at any club outside the Championship, Pep had his pants take down, turned inside out and stretched over his head.

I hope you’re joking! If not, a ridiculous statement!

Grealish is a very good player. Not worth the money they paid, but a very good player. I also like that he doesn’t come out with typical footballer sound bites in interviews. Seems a decent bloke.

  15. I get the argument that standing can annoy some people. But, why punish everyone and not sell any tickets in that area?? If they are purchasing tickets for one off games it will be easy to identify them.
I’ve never known the club to not sell match day tickets in an area that isn’t sold out.

  16. It seems a bit harsh to punish Derby fans when the away fans are standing literally a few seats away from you.

Also, the block next to the away fans tend to stand but not the one near the edge of the area. It seems very odd and not a good move in my opinion. It will only damage the atmosphere further at the ground.

Thought these were the blocks where ST holders had to move for cup game away fans?

Are there no STs in this area then? ?‍♂️

It is. But season ticket holders moved for the West Ham game. All there will be in that area now is season ticket holders. It’s never happened ever in that area where the club haven’t sold match tickets. Very odd.
There is a new supervisor apparently who is strict on standing, checking tickets etc. It’s clearly a club policy to not sell tickets in that area but I’m not sure why?

  18. Why is the club not selling tickets in the East stand corner near the away fans?

The area is blocked out for the remainder of the season. I’ve heard stories of stewards being added to the area and being ‘on it’ in terms of reducing the standing fans. Used to be a decent atmosphere here but now you can’t get in. It’s not sold out as not blacked out. An odd decision by the club. People are complaining that the stewards/club are killing the atmosphere in this area.
    Anyone know anymore about this?
