Do we have blind faith in this one happening? Or will it be curtains for them in a months time?

Yeah, this sort of thing has to stop. But you could tell it was going to happen. Added to the fact he scored a goal that could send us down, it didn't help that Sky kept showing him smiling and talking to team mates on the bench after being subbed off was going to wind up some brainless twits.
The lad hasn't done anything wrong, just doing his job. If anything we should be blaming the club for selling him and not having a striker like him available when we really need him. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but the amount of bad luck we've had with the squad over the last couple of years is crazy and having only 2 fit options that are strikers when we can't score consistently might be the final nail in the coffin.

At this point I'd rather give Stretton a chance ahead of Delap. Both roughly around the same part of their progression, but we'd be better off financially if we focus on developing our own.

I think he is a better footballer than you are giving him credit for. His highlight reel from his Brazil and Mexico period show that he is a well rounded centre forward with good strength and solid control. He also managed to fire in a few thunderbolts in his time in those leagues.
Now I'm not saying that competitively all the opponents he played against were at a good level, but there are some outstanding clubs over that way and he had to adapt his game to the style of those leagues. He's come back to the UK a totally different player to the one a lot of people are trying to remember from his younger days.
He doesn't need pace with his positioning, but he isn't particularly slow anyway, he tends to use his energy wisely over 90 minutes.
His heading has been alright so far. With more service from wide areas I'm sure we'd see more of this.
I think the thing holding him back more at the moment is his team mates not getting closer to him when he is used to hold up the ball. He has linked up well with Gregory and his through ball for Waggy shows his eye for a forward pass.
I'm sure we might being in "better" next season, but I'm confident we can get more from Colin and that he will give more to the team until he can't any more.

Perhaps if we weren't in such a financial pickle then we might not have put him in the shop window and pushed a little harder to keep him with us for a couple more years. Seems to be that the timings were all wrong. I'm sure if Bellingham was at the same point in his career as Kaide when all the Brexit/Covid stuff happened then they might have had to offload him for a lot less money.
The reality is, he made his way into the first team picture for a whole season (not just 5 minutes in a match that was already won) and proved he was ready for 1st team football, Kaide needs more time to develop and we couldn't afford that. I'm also pretty sure Birmingham have closed their academy now as they can't afford to run it. At least we can still bring through new youngsters and there will hopefully be more stars developed in time.
