Ghost of Clough got a reaction from 48 hours in The EFL at it again? Blocking signings?
When questioned, Rooney stated he has 2 teams in mind for Huddersfield depending on whether signings can be made or not.
1st team players used: Roos, Marshall, Byrne, McDonald, Forsyth, Buchanan, Williams, Bird, Shinnie, Sibley, Watson, Jozwiak, Lawrence, Ebosele, Hutchinson, Kazim
U23s used: Bardell, LThompson, Aghatise
Free agents used: Allsop, Davies, Wisdom, Jagielka, Stearman, Carroll, Morrison, Aluko, Baldock
Team without signings:
Roos
Byrne Solomon Forsyth Buchanan
Bird Shinnie
Jozwiak Lawrence Hutchinson/Watson
Kazim
Team with signings:
Roos
Byrne Jagielka Davies Buchanan
Bird Shinnie
Jozwiak Lawrence Morrison
Kazim
Carroll and Baldock would complete the free 5 and start on the bench.

He's played LB, LW, DM, CM and AM for the U18/23s last season
I could have sworn I read he's been with us since U13 level but he OS suggests otherwise (coming from Wolves). He was definitely with our U16s though, as he played for the U18s in the early part of 19/20 (wasn't a scholar until 20/21)

Ghost of Clough reacted to Jubbs in Roos
Deserves way more credit than he gets. Look at the comments on the starting line-up.
"I don’t think I’d be able to stand a season with Roos as number 1"
"Cant do another season with Stevie ******* wonder in goal ffs"
"Oh no! Why is roos No1 is he ******* blind"
"Roos why? He’s dog ****"
Great shotstopper and good passer. His commanding and catching crosses could do with some work (although Roos had 3rd most aerial duels won p90 last season, Marshall was incredibly low), but can anyone name a championship keeper with all 4 traits at a high quality? No, you can't, because there's none. It's not like Marshall is incredibly commanding and catches every cross either, fans are just programmed to hate Roos after 1 massive mistake. Fans are always like there's a mistake coming. He hasn't made a mistake that's directly led to goal since Wembley.

Ghost of Clough got a reaction from The Scarlet Pimpernel in Harry Wilson
The PL give £350m to the EFL each season. Roughly £250m goes to 7/8 clubs in the form of parachute payments each season. £100m goes to the remaining 64/65 clubs.
My proposal would be to redistribute that more evenly, let's say £250m to Championship clubs, £75m to L1 and £25m to L2 (currently £325m, £17m, £11m)
Sliding scale based on performance (league position) over the season
- Championship clubs get between £8.4m and £13m
- L1 clubs get £2.3m to £3.9m
- L2 clubs get £0.85m to £1.3m
Only 7 of the 72 EFL clubs would be worse off, with the others in a much healthier position. perhaps enough for a shift towards clubs making a profit. P&S rules should be altered so that the £13m average allowable loss become £0 over time.

Is he available on a 6 month loan with no fees? ?

Ghost of Clough got a reaction from jono in Bobby Duncan
He's the type who needs to play off a big CF and cannot play that leading role by himself. The only place he can play in a 4231 is the AM role, but he hasn't got the all round game to play that in the Championship
With the lack of options in our squad, I expected him to start challenging for a first team place. I suppose he was told Kazim, Baldock and Stretton will be the first team options this season and he didn't think he'd get a chance. Plange has already performed better than him at U23 level too. WIth Cybulski stepping up to the U23s this move works out well for both parties.

That's where he played today though?
Lawrence central until Sibley replaced him in a straight swap.
Morrison, Watson, Hutchinson all used on the left recently. Jozwiak, Aluko, Ebosele on the right. There's a bit of a pattern, whether deliberate or not.

Sibley is ahead Whittaker without a doubt and I suspect will go further. But lets not pretend Whittaker didn't have talent; he was scoring for fun in the academy and there is a reason a club above us in the table decided to take him on. Whittaker will likely flourish when he physically matures in a couple years time.

I don't see why roos gets so much criticism. He's a decent keeper. Makes crucial saves.

Ghost of Clough got a reaction from IslandExile in Supporters Charter Meeting Questions
My question: will we need to sell any (academy) players this season, whether for P&S or cash flow reasons?
Some of the obvious questions will get obvious answers, and almost pointless asking them. They answers will be reassuring to some though.
HMRC, Marriott, transfer installment, etc.. - due to failed takeover in December
Ongoing embargo, why accounts/calculations haven't been submitted yet - due to ironing out conflicting opinions between club and EFL
No transfers - due to embargo and tight restrictions set by EFL
Risk of administration - not whilst Mel is owner
STs - don't want to sell too many in case we have to reduce capacity due to Covid
I would query why we haven't cleared the defaulted HMRC payments yet, but Chris Coles had already told us the club will be doing that later this week

Ghost of Clough got a reaction from Carl Sagan in Derby County versus Real Betis, 28 July, Pre-Season Friendly
They kind of are though. Different styles but both are best in the AM spot. Watson isn't anywhere near good enough defensively to be playing in the DM/CM positions

But Sibley is too risky because he gets booked too often (1 yellow every 195 minutes at various levels), whereas Watson is the much safer option (1 yellow every 201 minutes last U23 season)

We've been rotating the 3.
Man United: Roos, Marshall
Salford: Marshall, Allsop
Betis: Roos, Allsop
Allsop will be 3rd choice keeper this season once we're finally allowed to make more than 4/5 signings.

I'm guessing we'll line up like this:
Roos
Byrne Jagielka Forsyth Buchanan
Carroll Shinnie
Aluko Lawrence Morrison
Baldock
Then finish with this:
Allsop
Stearman Davies Cashin Williams
Bird Watson
Jozwiak Sibley Festy
Kazim

Ghost of Clough got a reaction from Stuniverse in Academy Thread 21/22
Moore, Rutt, Aideyan, Ibrahim, Fapetu, Borkovic, Eze and Kelly are the others from the U18 squad, although most don't appear to have been involved. The subs actually appear to be mostly 1st year pros
10 Trialist?
12 Eze?
14 Seb Thompson?
16 Perez de Gracia?
17Trialist?

Why do I get the niggling feeling we are going to waste him, sell him off on the cheap and then see him fly for somebody else....
