Our most vital player. Holmes plays well, the team plays well.

Was it you who valued the stadium at £80m too?

I don't think that's distinctly average - I bet Marriott and Waggers are on about 1 in 3 and they're strikers - Lawrence has primarily played for us as a winger (and all this talk about him being a 10 I think is nonsense, he's an inside forward, RHS front 3 so he can cut in from the wing, 10 is too far forward and we want him to carry the ball from midfield)
I think too many people are getting bogged down on his transfer fee and that Rowett (thanks Gary) lauded him as the Ince replacement - We know that generally speaking what Rowett did was sell our better players and generally replace them with less good alternatives
However I also think there's a bigger picture thing here - When Lawrence plays really well he's unplayable - Games like Huddersfield at the start of the season they couldn't touch him first half and then he worked himself into the ground second - Pretty much no players can have those kind of games every week - In fact having 1 every 10 games is pretty good - The rest of the time Lawrence is a solid 6/10 player or maybe some games a 7/10 - On Saturday he was a solid 7, worked hard, covered his man, tracked back, supported Lowe, provided an assist - It wasn't his greatest game but it was fine (as were the perfomance levels of most of our players, maybe Clarke bagged himself an 8/10)
Compare that to someone like Bogle - He's a 7/10 most games but sometimes (Forest) a 5/10 and sometimes an 8/10 - Always got a potential mistake in him and plenty of games gets trapped back in his own half by a winger on form - I'd say his outstanding games are as rare as Lawrence's but his 7/10 games are more frequent
I think the problem is - People were convinced by Rowett that Lawrence is 'the answer' to losing Ince and Hughes - He isn't - He's a perfectly decent championship player but he's not a replacement for those guys - In a squad of other decent players he does well (looked better with Wilson and Mount) and when he starts playing more with Rooney we'll see more of him
And on top of that - The lad is obviously a confidence player - He scores and BAM! there's a different Lawrence on the pitch - Why would any of our fans think it's a good idea to berate a player who so obviously works on confidence? Secondary point, anyone who thinks he's arrogant I think misses the point - He's obviously got very little self-confidence as shown by how much he changes after a goal - I think he fronts it out most of the time cos he thinks he should

I’ve spoken to the club, they insist the story is not true and nothing in it actually stands up the headline. They also said they had spoken to the Charity Commission which has confirmed it is NOT investigating the Club or Trust and hadn’t ever been in touch with the Trust even though TeamTalk has been up and running for over a year. There are plenty of inaccuracies in the story, such as the amount of funding and alluding to the fact that 32RED pay Rooney’s wages, which they don’t. As far as they’re concerned this is just the Mail stirring it because….it’s the Daily Mail.

"The New Business of Football: Accountability and Finance in Football" by S Morrow (1999)...
After the bosman ruling where clubs could only demand a transfer fee if sold during the duration of the contract, a number of clubs reverted to the traditional method of player expenditure/income going through the P/L account, the majority altered their amortisation method to write off the value over the contract, setting the residual value of zero at the end of the contract.

People fall out of love, parents fall out with their sons and daughters and siblings can end up enemies.
But it seems no matter what you say or do to a dog it forgives you and you're it's whole world.
Losing a dog is heartbreaking. There's many many people I'd miss less than mine.
    Sorry about your dog @Ramslad1992.
Mine went blind over one weekend and then when she went to the vets they said she was so ill that trying to fix her would be cruel and expensive. Although I'd have paid it. But they said she isn't coping well with being blind because her senses should be guiding her around the house and she just lay in her corner. No food or drink unless brought to her. Had to drag her out to the toilet and she was 50+Kg.
Slept on her bed with her the night before they put her down. My missus still cries about her now and this was also 4 years ago
But that dog was there for our first house, first baby, first argument... everything. She got off before this ride stopped!! Cried like a baby in the vets.
We bought another Bullmastiff soon after and I think I was a bit of an arse to him. He was supposed to replace my old one but he was nothing like her. She was timid and cuddly and he was playful and always on the move.
Now he's my best friend. I don't tell him that though. I tell him he's fat and useless. But he's alright for a dog.
And I reckon if my 5 year old cried from a mile away he'd hear it. He loves her and she only ever criticises his personal hygiene.

A lot of fuss has been made about us selling our stadium for double the value stated in the accounts, yet nothing has been said about Wednesday selling theirs for almost triple - it's only been about the date of the sale.
PPS cost £28m to build. In today's money that is equivalent to roughly £56m. We've made improvements since then, so I feel it's safe to assume our stadium valuation is above this figure.
Althogh, applying the same logic for Reading doesn't quite work. They spent £50m building it and in today's money that would be almost double (£95m). Instead they sold it at half the original build cost (£23m?)
Brighton's 30,750 capacity stadium was opened in 2011, at a build cost of £93m.
The Ricoh Arena built in 2005 and expanded in 2010, had a total build cost of £113m.
    Huddersfield's 24k capacity stadium was £40m in 1993 (£84m today).
    Hull's (£42m in 2001) and Cardiff's (£48m in 2007) would be equivalent to around £70m today.
Brentford are spending £70m on their new 17,250 seater stadium (and 7 residential buildings for 500 apartments)
I feel there's enough out there to validate our £81m price tag.

Completely oblivious to the legal side of this matter but agree with Cheron that surely we will try and get this overturned by the independent panel or via appeal before thinking about any other avenues.
Also do we know if there is anything in the EFL constitution that forbids legal injunctions being taken out? I certainly dont remember any club ever taking one out and I'm sure we are not the first club that has been confident in fighting our own corner.

We know it was the "EFL EXECUTIVE" who asked for a "modest price adjustment".
We know we acted in good faith of the 'EFL EXECUTIVE''s advice regarding the transaction and valuation. Our submitted reports were accepted, and nothing since that submission has said otherwise. The club claim the EFL has admitted to making a mistake somewhere along the process.
So, we know the EFL Executive (person of authority) was involved with the sale process before, during and after the transaction. We also know someone of authority signed off on our submitted report(s).
Good job someone of authority approved our report(s) after submission then.

It wouldn't happen. Our fans thought it was embarrassing when Wassall pumped his fist a few times after beating Brentford, I doubt they'd go along with this celebration after beating the league's bottom team.
I absolutely love this banner the Den Haag fans unveiled before the game though.

The auditors are clearly satisfied that our accounting policy for Intangible Assets (player contracts) complies with Financial Reporting Standard 102, the accounting standard with which the club is legally compelled to comply, which does require residual values to be taken into account when considering amortisation and impairment. Also, it is reasonable to conclude that they were satisfied that those values were materially correct, since they gave unqualified reports on the accounts. It is also reasonable to conclude that the EFL considered the policy to be reasonable in the past, having signed off earlier submissions. Therefore, whilst I accept that it would be OK for the EFL to impose a standard accounting policy for player contracts for all clubs  going forward, I do not consider it OK for them to make a retrospective change and then use it as a stick to beat us with.
