Ghost of Clough got a reaction from kevinhectoring in Liam Thompson future plans
You've described the passing accuracy for every player in the squad under Warne's tactics. Back when we knew how to pass it, Thompson was the most reliable in the squad.

Yes, they are Tyreese Fornah, Tyreese John Jules and Tyresese Marvin Johnson.

Clough had 231 games and almost 10 transfer windows in charge (joined part way through the first), whereas Warne has had 50 games and almost 2 complete transfer windows. Clough joined with an almost non-existent academy with the odd gem, Warne joined a decimated academy with A LOT of talent remaining.
Clough averaged 16.5 games per academy debut and 2.6 u27s per transfer window [I had missed a couple of debutants off my original list - Dudley and MHanson]
Warne has averaged 50 games per academy debut and 0.5 u27s per transfer window so far.
For a dose of reality, Clough's wage budget in the Championship wasn't too dissimilar to Warne's. The wage bill in Clough's final full season in charge was just £10.6m.
As you point out, Clough had a bloated squad, yet he still had the patience and long term vision to give youngsters games. Warne has the smallest squad (except for 21/22) since Clough was sacked, yet still can't give youngsters games.

There are always going to be things which can be twisted to suit a certain viewpoint. However, here are 2 undeniable facts.
    1. We were found not guilty regarding the sale of the stadium, with the EFL's expert witness being laughed out the room.
    2. We were not proven to have used an improper amortisation policy. In fact, the independent disciplinary panel agreed with the club, whilst the LAP requested a slight alteration to the policy (or revert to standard practices)
On the second topic. The administrators accepted a penalty to ensure a takeover could go through, as otherwise the EFL's repeated appeals would have resulted in us going out of business long before the lengthy appeals processes would have reached a conclusion.
    Here is another fact:
    3. After our punishment, the EFL changed the rules to prevent another club using the same amortisation policy as we did.
Obviously, if what we had done was against the rules in the first place, why would the EFL then have to change the rules to ban the method of amortisation?

Warne's now managed us for 50 games.
Warne had a budget for transfer fees, but has taken the active decision to spend it on wages instead.
Thanks for reminding me we're in League 1 and that we shouldn't be outplayed by relegation candidates, with a minimum expectation this season of promotion.
Who? Well Gary Bowyer would be my top choice at the moment, but there are quite a few available managers willing to manage us in L1. Wilder was tempted by Reading, Moore would come if offered the role. I've always liked Carsley, but feel he'll have eyes on the England men's team when that becomes available. Simon Rusk is another in the England setup after spending 6 years managing Brighton U23s/21s. Leam Richardson got promoted with Wigan in 21/22 and was harshly sacked last season. Richie Wellens and Paul Simpson wouldn't cost much in compensation.

After the success of our other player reccomended signing (Waghorn), Warne has turned to the squad for help with recruitment once more. Warne asked if there were any other attacking players who haven't scored more than 2 goals in the last 2 seasons, just like Waghorn did... Hourihane and Bradley both  stepped up and recommended a the same player who hasn't scored more than 2 in the last 4 seasons"

I started thinking of the pros to counter my many cons of Warne as manager. I struggled to get beyond 'signed some decent players for L1', but it got me thinking... If Rowett had this squad, there's not a doubt in my mind that he'd have us top 2 as his style of play would suit our squad (and Warne's signings) better than Warne's style.
When Warne came in, he claimed he was tactically flexible/adaptable. If that really was the case, he wouldn't play almost all of the players in the squad the same way as we have been seeing over the past 50 games under Warne.

Under Clough, I recall the arguments made against him were the quality of entertainment, and not advancing quick enough. Both appeared to be there in 13/14, which is why so many were surprised at his sacking at the time. I think Rush was later quoted as saying he didn't realise what a good job Clough was actually doing. Clough, under the ownership of GSE, was judged against a bottom 6 Championship budget and exceeded expectations.
The main difference between Clough and Warne is one built foundations and steadily improved on them, whilst also introducing a number of youngsters to the first team.

Clough academy debutants: O'Brien, Mendy, Mills, Connolly, Ball, Atkins, Hendrick, Severn, Hughes, Bennett, Gjokaj, Hoganson
    Warne academy debutants: DBrown
Clough permanent signings u27: Porter, Barker, Moxey, Buxton, Pringle, Croft, DMartin, Brayford, Bailey, Doyle, Cywka, Ward, Bryson, Maguire, Fielding, Legzdins, Robinson, Naylor, Sammon, Keogh, Jacobs, Coutts, Freeman, Russell, Forsyth, CMartin
    Warne permanent signings u27: Wilson

From that interview, the first topic of discussion feeds into what @brady1993 keeps saying.
When asked are these players being able to play his system, Warne's response: "I don't think we're losing due to tactics or player deficiencies... or a flaw in the system". To me, this is a concern that he didn't categorically deny it, and cannot see the very obvious reason why we have been struggling so far against top half opposition, especially when he has signed 8 players specifically for his system.
