We'd "dropped" to 6th at HT.
FT brings us to settle at a respectable Christmas 4th place.
4pts behind 2nd with a game in hand.  Effectively 5 points if Bolton win their game in hand.
It ain't perfect.  There's a lot of work to be done.
But imo, it is very, very acceptable, and gives us plenty to be hopeful for, and plenty to look forward to.
My cockles are well and truly warmed.



... I just hope that last kick peno for wycombe doesn't prove to be costly when we chivvy up at the end of the season!  😲

That's right... We have a game in hand over the top two... and so do Bolton, but they are 2 points better off than us (currently 2 behind Peterborough, compared to our 4 behind Peterborough), which is what I was inferring.
If they (Bolton) won it (Their game in hand) before we play ours (merely an example) they would become "The new 2nd place team" (Replacing Peterborough), and we'd now be 5 points behind 2nd placed Bolton, (instead of 4 points behind the current 2nd placed Peterborough), but  still with our game in hand.

Obviously not proud of this bit, but I can confirm 7 seconds is more than enough.

The whole search (For best part of an hour and a half, in and around East Street and The Eagle Centre, as it was then, and involving police foot patrols, Eagle Centre security staff, and lots of walkie-talkies) centred around my anger at the boy for wandering off, and planning the appropriate punishment once he was found.  The reality of the situation once he was found was part collapse, a little vomiting, and literal tears of utter and shameless relief!
Shame itself only kicked in later, and still remains today, nigh on 36 years later*
Never felt so sick in my life, before or since! 🤮

(He was found by BHS staff, apparently within 5 mins of him wandering off, taken to their non-public staff canteen... and nobody thought it wise to actually report it!  He, on the other hand, was lapping up the cakes, fizzy pop, goodies, and attention in equal measure!)  FFS!
 
*He was defo pre-school, so maybe 4 years old?

NEVER EVER take your eyes off them if not in a secure environment.(only those who did, will know that feeling when you cant find them)
Give love unconditionally but dont expect a thing in return, they didnt ask to be born (they will tell you this themselves)
Understand that with girls the aliens will come in the approx thirteenth year, and remove any semblance of the child you had for the previous twelve years.
With boys find the stash of 'lady' books and smile 
Take the enjoyment from every moment you get, it is all to brief, and you earned it!

You know about as much as I do about moderating a football forum youth.

As a son:
My dad was "firm but fair" (in hindsight), with me and my 4 sisters.  (He was ex-army... the guy with the stick, doing all the shouty stuff on the parade ground.)
I pretty much disliked the guy until I started to mature at around 14.  I just about fell to love him dearly, and we started to get proper pally... when he died (I was 18... and probably only ever bought him one pint! 😢).
Fathers... think on!
 
 
As a father:
Keep it loving, obviously... but keep it practical.
Far too many kids nowadays haven't got a clue how to do their own breathing when they flee the nest!
As just one example, our two (boys) were ironing their own school uniforms throughout big school (from age 11?). And they were strict on appearance at Landau Forte back then!
The youngest even went on to "make a small killing" when he joined the army, as non of the other lads at the training camp knew where to start!  He thanked us in the end!  😁👍
 
Never expect two or more siblings to be the same... or even similar.  Think chalk and cheese, but with a mile wide river in between, and you'll get the picture.

Of those you are effectively calling out, I won't be anywhere near the top, but I know myself I am amongst them.  I notice many.  Ignore most.  But bite occasionally.
