    Hey;
    friendly Villa fan here.
Just wanna say with regard to Conor, what a top signing he will be for you, he does have his limitations, specifically that he isnt super mobile and isnt what you would class as a "warrior".
However, he is super professional, has a wand of a left foot in terms of free kicks and the odd goal here and there, in League 1 he will be a huge asset im sure.
He doesnt have an issue with injuries etc, so nothing to worry about from that stand point.
    Great signing.
best of luck to you guys and girls in getting back up to the Champ.

Spacehorse reacted to Carl Sagan in Player Registration Embargo Continues
Our friends at the EFL didn't take long to point out we remain under embargo.
    https://www.efl.com/news/2022/july/efl-statement-derby-county-exit-administration/
    The relevant extract reads:
"As part of the conditions of continuing membership in the EFL, the Club, whilst remaining under a registration embargo, will be permitted to sign new players in accordance with the terms of a business plan. The plan, which has been jointly agreed by the new ownership and the EFL, includes restrictions in respect of transfers fees, player wages and agents’ fees. Any application to register players must comply with the terms of those agreed plans."
I guess we all knew this was coming. What the statement does not say, is how long this will remain for. Is it the whole season? Is it the following season as well?
And what the terms are will dictate how competitive we can be. As before, we cannot even extend registrations for existing players without meeting the EFL's demands. While I'm grateful we still have a club, I will never forgive the EFL for what they did to us.

Well I think Mr Couhig is an excellent man and sets a fine example with his empathetic treatment of a fellow EFL member in severe distress. The fact that the EFL board didn’t stop him taking unilateral action against another club, in effect breaking their own rules, cannot be blamed on such a fine upstanding owner. I would personally nominate him for an honour for services to football and wish Wycombe all the best for the season.

Throughout these ruinous last 24 months my morale has been sustained by the robust presence of WR & LR and the superb togetherness of the fans. But WR’s resignation hit me like a train on Friday; after reading David Clowes’s statement I was floating …but the news just a few hours later utterly floored me.

3 days later I’m starting to rally. Surveying the Club today - the fragments- what do we have? Well not much left. Except, we still have huge support and a shared experience of last season where the centrality of the fans to football in Derby was palpably demonstrated time and again.
I felt flattened on Friday. But I’m regaining strength Monday from the memory of those indefatigable songs of defiance. Let’s keep the faith and re-group and continue to show ourselves and if we do so I know we will bounce back. We’re all in this together so let’s stick together and re-build stronger.

I want to hear it all unfold and see who says what because at the moment we're all offering opinions based on very few facts.
But this is my gut reaction based upon very little is this
I was one of those who never called for Rooney's head and was fine with him being given the job.
I was also impressed with how he handled himself and galvanised the club.
However, and a lot of people won't like to hear this,  most clubs of our size would have coalesced around most managers under the same circumstances..
It's just what human beings do when faced with adversity.
    They come together.
    Think of the Dunkirk spirit.
    Think of Ukraine.
Think Boston Strong (after the marathon bombings)
    Think of We Are Derby.
The whole We are thing adopted the world over by sports clubs started with Marshall University after they lost over half of their (American) football team in a plane crash in the early 70s.
We Are Marshall became the mantra that created a tight knit community born out of adversity.
The point I'm making is from a human psychology standpoint, all Rooney had to do was to turn up and commit to the cause to create that unity.
I'm very disappointed that he's gone and I feel especially bad for the person who said 'I have a great idea, let's offer Wayne Rooney the freedom of the city', but I'm disappointed because of the players I believed he could attract.
As well also, as I did like the football the team was trying to play.
But, from what little I know, I do think him walking out now undermines the *loyalty* he's shown the club.
Staying with the club when he was under a whopper of a contract for a relatively short period of time is hardly the stuff of legend.
Real loyalty would have meant him saying 'Right, we have new owners, we can start to bring in my players, we have games to plan for and I love this club and the fans, so let's get cracking'
Instead Rooney said 'let's get packing'
    Gut reaction.
    Duck him.
    Long term opinion.
    No idea yet.

So do we think that Morris put the price for the stadium up by £3m after he agreed to pay Pube-Head's blackmail money?
At least we now know that Gibson has indeed been threatening the survival of DCFC and deserved all of the criticism he received from DCFC fans and others for his actions. And that, far from stepping in to break the deadlock for the benefit of the club, Morris simply got Gibson off his back and created a different obstacle to a takeover.
    Damn the pair of them.
