Anag Ram got a reaction from ColonelBlimp in The electrical appliance thread
I’m afraid Simpkins is tending to the stove, drawing and boiling water for family bath night.
He may be available after he’s served breakfast tomorrow.

Ian Burnett, Lord Chief Justice - tomorrow's a big'un.

Oh no, you’ve changed the thread title. Now my doctor who comment looks silly with no context. The internet and stalking community will surely think I’m an idiot.
PS Has he signed yet?

Anag Ram got a reaction from Ellafella in Tomorrow's the big day. Glass half full, or half empty?
Yes, I keep reading about these 1-0 wins but this defence will take a while to get used to each other’s games.
We conceded three against Sheffield and Stoke missed a hatful.
We also haven’t had a consistent LWB and Elder will need bedding in.
I am encouraged by the energy we’ve shown and the pace at which we have passed the ball.
Might be a bumpy ride more than an Arsenal grind 😊

I think we'll continue to concede goals. The defence is quality but the way we play coupled with the lack of protection provided by our midfield will lead to the opposition having a bit of success.
I also think the way we play and our improved fitness will see us much more effective in the opposition half. We'll be putting in better quality crosses with more people in the box to get on the end of them. We'll also be winning the ball higher up the pitch and creating more chances that way. I don't see the games being dull or boring this season. If they are low scoring affairs it will be because neither team has taken their chances.
Given the squad depth (or lack of it) I can also see us dropping off a bit later in the season. Hopefully Warne will see that he needs to rotate and rest players a bit more than he was able to last season.

Might give us a real presence in the box and could blend well with Washington.

Derby 9 Wigan 0
Nelson, Bradley and Cashin all with hat tricks.
Set piece practice pays off spectacularly as Washington and Collins focus solely on getting us corners.

True.
Two things
1. Warne seems to be assembling a squad with a similar team spirit to the Rooney years.
2. He knows as well as we do, the importance of getting strikers in.
We won’t pay over the odds for has beens and wannabes but if they’re available at reasonable prices and they can do a job, we may have to boost the squad with them.
It’s also important to have a bit of room for January signings.

Anag Ram got a reaction from Steve How Hard? in Martyn Waghorn - signed a 1-year deal
I guess TBF we don’t know what the offer is.
PW might have said there’s not a fortune in it for you and you might not play regularly, what do you want to do?
If that’s the case, one could quite easily see Waghorn seeking out other offers.
Definitely the right type of character. Whether he’s still got it as a player week in, week out remains to be seen.

Need to be focussed and on it this year. Bradley or Nelson for me. Fozzy is too nice and laid back, as is Bird.

The criticism of Warne in the transfer market is rubbish.
Can anyone name me one of his permanent signings who has been rubbish?
Thank the Lord we now have someone who does due diligence before he signs someone I.e. actually watches them playing in games, checks their character to make sure they will fit in with the rest of the team. Not prepared to pay over the odds for someone who will not improve what we already have.
Over the last 10 years the list is as long as your arm of players we have purchased for exorbitant fees (Blackman, Anya, etc etc etc), fuelled no doubt by power crazy chairmen desperate to get to the promised land. Look where it got us - just remember that horrible, sinking feeling just over 12 months ago, when our Club was about to exist no longer.
Give me Clowes, Warne and a bit of realism every time!!!!
