  1. Forest have so many players they could have a starting 11 plus subs of just central midfielders.

Thought we were player hoarding when we signed the likes of Butterfield, Johnson, Camera and Blackman when we really had no space for them.

Yes Forest needed players if they had any hope this season, but they’ve done it without a care for these footballers careers and it’s wrong. They are going to have nearly 10 players not registered to play for them? What do they do? They’ve got to come into training knowing they are surplus to requirements, chatting to other players and causing a stink.

But let’s be honest too, it’s happened because there was a battle of CEO’s and the one who stayed is getting his own players in.

Can’t help but think a lot of people I’ve brought the media line about us not being able to pay for agents, fees etc so that rules us out.

So there’s no other striker in England or Scotland that’s of the same standard as Osula, on roughly the same money and with no need for a fee? Don’t believe that for a second.

Who we could’ve brought in might not of been a world beater but as others have alluded to if it’s that or having to stick Barkhuizen up there I know which one I’m picking.

Issue isn’t just money but also game time. We probably beat quite a few teams to White because with Bird’s injury plus any other injuries we pick up we can probably guarantee 10+ games where he will play. Any striker, that came in we couldn’t do that without having a significant injury to McGoldrick or Collins.

The financial consideration is what Leigh Curtis said, if we underspend this year then there is better chance for the EFL to look at us more favourably in summer meaning Warne has more chance to assemble his team, especially if we are still in league 1 and Bird + Knight are then sold.

  3. The only reason this thread has been anywhere near the top is because people keep coming in to post banal things like ‘lock the thread’. Just leave the ruddy thing alone and stop fiddlin with it.

Keep it open imo, I’m expecting @Davidwants to do it himself whilst adding a witty retort once the window closes

Of players of age who could possibly come?

    Byrne, Jagielka and Martin.

But seriously you lot should move on from ever thinking ex players could do a job for you because it never works.

Also considering that I think league 1 is doing Bird and Knight some good, I’d take Buchanan back too

  5. I suspect there’s more posts saying ‘lock the thread’ rather than anyone seriously suggesting he should come back.

Chris Martin Fan Club (let’s not forget, Martini’s) is a much more fun club than the lock the thread fan club

Has there been proof of any official interest yet?

Well we’ve had a journo we’ve not heard of before saying there is interest. Just Warne usually gets asked or there would be a denial or whatever.

Edit: Just went back and checked and that wasn’t what the journalist said. My mistake!

Not really too fussed if it happens or not btw, can see where it might work but probably want to see us get more out of Collins.

  7. His role would be similar to McGoldrick’s, which isn’t exactly pegging it from side to side for no reason, so it’s an interesting link of nothing else. The other side to that is how likely will we get a full season from McGoldrick? For all this ‘players running around’ malarkey that people have seemed to pick up on, our current no.10 is probably our most important player and that’s not his game either. So there’s method in the madness, even if there’s “nothing” in the link.

Seem to remember a few times Martin getting written off on this forum, always came back and did well. Probably time to put a bit of respect on his name tbh, enough time is past and you can accept you were wrong.

The aim for us to beat the administration thread right?

  8. To be honest I’m not sure whether Hughes, or Bryson to that fact, we’re ever quite the same layer after those big injuries in Clement’s season.

Loads of reasons as to why it could have been, poor management in signing too many players in one position, poor recovery due to being rushed back or it’s just what can happen with long term injuries

Hughes has become a dependable prem midfielder, which is excellent all things considered, but he always could have been so much more.

  9. Adding my +1 for Early Doors, started my rewatch on Saturday night and I think it’s better than I remember, the characters are a lot more nuanced aside Phil and Nige.

Finally started Gomorrah last night after putting it off for years and I’m absolutely hooked after two episodes.

Also, Winterwatch starts tonight and that’s worth the license fee alone.

oh come on its clearly off. if rashford isnt there then the man city defenders react completely differently to the ball.

that is interfering with play. i think its either a poor decision or an awful rule that needs changing instantly.

I agree in that if it happened to derby then I would be in uproar, but I’m talking as a neutral and someone who was a defensive player. City have three players who could have done something but none of them committed and wanted the officials to sort it out for them. In a world that’s now dominated by VAR I’m not sure you can play that way, and to be honest I think I’d rather my defenders would deal with a situation and sort everything else afterwards.

  11. I’m very 50/50 on that first United goal, because the City defence stop and once that happens it’s not automatically on the officials to stop the game. The city defence and Ederson have enough time and are in a postion to defend that properly, because they all but gave up believing Rashford to be offside shouldn’t be a reason to disallow it imo. I see the other side to this, and obviously if it happened to Derby I’d be first one on at the officials, but in a VAR led officiating system it’s an even more extreme version of playing to the whistle in my opinion. You have to keep playing and then let VAR sort out the mess afterwards.

So I was a bit stupid a few days ago, my rucksack was full so put my iPad on top of everything and put it in the boot of my car. Forgot about the iPads precarious position when getting it out and the iPad slipped out of its magnetic case (load of use that was) and fell on the pavement. This has caused the ‘sleep/hour’ button to be permanently down so I can’t switch it on anymore. Everything else is seemingly fine.

Took it to the Apple Shop tonight and they basically won’t do anything because I don’t pay for the apple care kit. It won’t switch on either when plugged in because it’s in recovery mode.. Best they can offer is to sort it through insurance or I could have paid £459 for a recovered model (I politely declined).

I’m not particularly tech savvy so I have a few questions.

    1) if I now got apple care kit and took the iPad back then is that worth a gamble or they going to have a record of me going to the shop with the same issue?

    2) is this worth trying to repair or a lost cause? Anyone know any decent repair shops in Derby/Derbyshire who’d be willing to give this a go?

Small update, but ended up getting it fixed from a mate and it’s as good as new. Just for future ref that these things are fixable.

Two fingers up to the sh***hawks in the apple shop at Meadowhall!

  13. Anybody twitching at the minute? Have a soft NY resolution to attract more wildlife/birds to our small Sheffield garden, mainly because we are over run with magpies and pigeons most of the time. Taking it all rather slowly and seeing what works but been out and got some feeders to compliment a rowan tree. We’ve had stuff coming to the feeders and fat balls but have not been at home to see what exactly, anyway yesterday I had a look out and saw a mistle thrush out there enjoying the berries on the rowan. It’s a little thing but I have to stress we’ve barely seen anything like that around us aside some swifts in summer, along with the result yesterday it made my day.

Anyway advice on what to add would be appreciated. I’m going to get a small bird bath for now and we are looking to add some hawthorn to get more berries/shrubbery then have a look at it all again in spring when it’s a bit warmer.

Also I picked up a bird house that I need to attach to the side of our house at some point.

  14. I think this was discussed a lot during the administration days, but I think a lot of things in or around the stadium are currently leased out on contracts to outside firms.

Whether that’s good or bad I’m not really sure, as a fan you like to think any money you spend goes directly into the club and personally I’d want the stadium to have a more community feel (use local firms for catering, beer etc) but guaranteed money is guaranteed money.
