It may be understandable, but he really is in ‘damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t’ territory here (see the ‘apology’ issue - complaints that he hasn’t apologised, then when he does, complaints that it’s all insincere and hollow).

"He would sooner have tried and failed than not have tried at all." Says he has lost/invested over £200m. Regrets it financially but not otherwise. Sounds as if he doesnt want anything back and stadium can be included in any plan administrators come up with. He will work with administrators to get good deal. Apparently 15 interested parties (i had to listen back to check number) to buy have approached over weekend and he would say 2-3 are very credible in terms of reputation and resources

I understood that interview, I’m glad I listened without prejudging what was said. I feel a lot of fans wouldn’t accept anything he said whatever. Which I think is incredibly sad.

I think a lot commenting on here have already made their mind up.
I'm not happy myself, however, I'd ask people to at least keep an open mind.
It's not implausible to think that potential buyers are waiting for administration because their costs would be so much less.
I agree staff and supporters will suffer but this may actually be the only way to get the new owners that everyone craves.

Probably plenty but, here’s a novel idea, let’s not pre-judge or speculate. Let’s hear it first then, if appropriate, we can let rip.

Not bothering to listen just be another brain washing exercise how everybody was against him etc etc.How he only had the best interests of the club at heart, interests of the club my a**e. i notice it's pre-recorded probably from one of his villas or castles in some exotic place served on by hand and foot wondering which gourmet dish to have. Meanwhile, back here in reality, some of the club staff are worrying where there next meal is coming from along with paying the rent/mortgage.But never mind hey MM so long as you are OK.

On the contrary, I want to hear what he has to say. Then I can make my own mind up about it before it is twisted, misinterpreted,  slanted either way to suit people's agendas before posting on here.

Not sure if this has been posted already (or how to do it without lazy linking - sorry) but there are some quite nice words from Stoke’s manager at the end of the article.  Very magnanimous of him.
I’m not surprised they think they might have got a point though. Although they didn’t create that many clear cut chances they had quite a lot of possession (too much for my liking!). Nevertheless, a very pleasing and surprising performance given the troubles. Good , positive atmosphere too.
I wonder if it will be the same when we inevitably lose at home at some point? Hope so?

I'd rather stick a saucepan on my head and let my two year old clatter it with a wooden spoon for 90 minutes than listen to Ed Dawes.

Classless is being polite.  Rooney is a multi millionnaire already.  That's not why he's doing this and he's shown his class by sticking by the players, believing in them, doing everything he can.  The guy is top class in my opinion, forget whether he's an experienced manager or not.  So impressed with everything he and the team are doing with all the poo that's been going on.  The reaction today says it all.

Typical of him based on my experience of meeting him. Not a nice bloke. Perhaps if Dawes and the other local press had asked tougher questions of the actual club we might have been able to see this mess coming.

Excited at the prospect of seeing a resurgence of Derby County Football Club.
So many things have been shaken in the past year and there is a need to “Awake and strengthen that which remains.”
Fifty years ago we were the top team in the country.
Forty years ago Forest ruled the roost.
Recently our manager was the most successful player in England.
    Forever changes…..that’s life!

Disgusted at some fans really. How come trashing Caroline Flack was wrong, and look what that led to, and yet it’s perfectly fine to say what they like about Mel Morris?
He’s human, he gambled and lost.
If I lost one of my family I’d be devastated, if it was my money all gone I’d lose sleep, but over football? Not a chance.

LazloW got a reaction from secretsquirrel in Protest against the right people
Whoever people decide to protest about, it will be a colossal waste of time.
Protest about the ownership - so what? We all know Mel wants to sell and will do so as soon as possible. We also know that the club are trying to get out of the predicament we are currently in. Protesting isn't going to make that process go any faster. Protest about the mistakes have been made? Well, OK but you can't change what has happened so what's the point?  Does anybody at the club think the fan base is happy and needs to be disavowed of that opinion? I shouldn't think so.
Protest against the EFL? Go ahead - they won't care and it won't lead to any rule changes. That will only happen - and I agree that they should - when all of the clubs start protesting. But it suits other clubs to see us 'get done' so they won't lift a finger to help (and they may not agree that the rules of stupid either). As far as the EFL are concerned, all they are doing is applying the rules that they think we have broken. I imagine they are quite happy and smug about the whole situation.
If people want to waste their time - and it makes them feel better - then go for it. I'm sure a bit of venting might be cathartic to some. But it will have zero positive impact on anything else. If a protest does occur, then I hope it happens after the match rather than before or during, as the one impact it might have is unsettling the team.

LazloW got a reaction from angieram in Time is now to let efl know our anger at them
I think there is scope to be angry at both Mel and the EFL; doesn't have to be just one or the other. One got us into the mess, the other has seemingly done everything in their power to keep us there. Its a sorry state of affairs and one which I hope leads to the EFL taking a long look at their rules and practices, but none of that will help us now. If Mel & Co hadn't upset them by trying to be too clever then this wouldn't have happened. We can all be wise after the event though.  Its just all very sad.

Do you know what, it’s a really difficult decision for me. We are looking at this with those hindsight goggles on but there was such a ridiculous amount of bad luck and I agreed with a lot of the decisions at the time.
    - Nigel Pearson appointment. He built the team that Leicester won the league with but he tried to change our style of play too soon and the players couldn’t handle it + there was some racism issue with his son.
    - Clement. One of the highest regarded coaches in Europe, came to us from Madrid. Percentages say that should have worked.
    - Mac. Did well for us every time he was here, sabotaged us when Newcastle showed interest.
    - Lampard. Massively raised the profile of the club and some of the players we could attract through him - look at where they are now. On the flip side all pf his permanent signings were terrible and but for a weird team selection at Wembley and the obvious should I stay/go period, could have been the one to get us to the promised land.

I am also not buying this theory that the buck stops with him on transfers. You don’t expect the owner to say yes/no to spending money based on the quality of a player. They don’t know enough about the technical side of the game. If a manager tells you this player is the missing link to get us to the prem but by the way mr Blackman will cost X million, that is the fault of the coach not the owner.
Joinersgate. Albentosa getting home sick. The unexplainable disappearance of ability from players like Anya, Butterfield, Marriott, etc who (forget the fees) were all good players before coming to Derby.

I don’t want to be the voice of reason because I’m as angry as everyone else and of course there is the flip side of the argument with some extremely poor commercial decisions, but I do find myself feeling for Mel. I honestly believe every decision he has made has been in the best interest of the club, it just hasn’t worked out for him. And unfortunately now he has to fall on his sword. But it doesn’t make me hate the man…

p.s I don’t expect people to read this in full, but emotions are running high at the moment and it made me feel better getting it off my chest.

I understand that tonight many questions will be asked, both of the club and myself.
Tonight as the news was broke, I was sat in the pub, still am, it's hit me hard as I'm sure it has you all, I was not expecting it, there was no pre warning, no hint of what was to come.
I also understand that over the years my opinion has been questioned, it's something I have had to deal with, sometimes poorly, but with the best and honest of intentions.
Tonight I am hurting, just as much as you all, this is the club I love, the club I adore, the club I have tattooed on my hand for all to see with pride.
I love this club, please just think when posting over the next few days, weeks in anger, myself, the moderators, we do not deserve to be on the end of your anger or frustration.
Today is a dark day for the club, but as fans, we need to to stick together. We are Derby County, every one of us and we will move forward as one.
