  1. I'm a season ticket holder in that area (East Stand Upper) & this looks like a ramping up of measures.

We had stewards checking tickets as people were going up the steps during Morecambe game so presumably some concern about people switching seats from other areas. Didn't see any attempts to stop standing but the situation there has been pretty consistent for some time now - J Block stand throughout (Upper & Lower) whilst people in other East Stand blocks nearby only stand if they have seats on the top row. I haven't seen people randomly standing in any other blocks to the right of J Block at any stage this season.

There was also an email from the club (don't know whether everyone got this or just those of us located in that area) warning of extra checks & measures aiming at targeting anti-social behaviour. Fair to say it went down pretty badly given the abusive songs J Block were singing throughout the Morecambe game & the stewards seemed to back off from being as visible on Tuesday.

Clearly some enthusiasm on here to strictly police standers but if the reason for this is a complaint received by someone not usually in that area, it seems heavy-handed. If you want to sit, there are plenty of areas in the stadium to do so - this isn't comparable with the away game situation (which penalises anyone wanting to sit down). It also seems hypocritical when standing is implicitly permitted in the away end & the South Stand.

Longer term, I feel the club could do with exploring a safe standing solution - its clearly popular with certain fans so seems logical to get that area established asap & reduce the tension between standing v sitting.

Massively ironic seeing as twice this week you've gone on an 'I told you so" style 'rant' taking aim at anyone who wasn't initially fully supportive of or didn't yet understand the logic of the change.

You're calling for the focus to be on our club's recovery in one breath and pointing out people's supposed inadequacies if it isn't, and in the next breath focusing you're busying yourself calling out fans who expressed doubts. Make up your mind.

Those traumatic times you mention were also the reason some people reacted the way they did. On the surface of it, before people really had a chance to get their head around it, the way we went from Rosenior to Warne very much resembled some of the changes Mel Morris made.

It hasn't turned out like those, thankfully, but if you're expecting people not to have reacted with surprise / concern after what they've been put through previously and then lording it over them months down the line when you've picked the 'right' reaction then of course you're going to get some people giving it you back.

I feel you betrayed yourself with one of your posts last night complaining about how you were treated for your options on Cocu - it made it look like your real purpose here isn't about supporting the club and enjoying the good times, rather you getting some sort of 'revenge' and the you've placed yourself in the easiest position to do that, thinking nobody would notice.

I mean I get it, I do, nobody wants to continually have to defend their viewpoint so if it's easier to take the path of least resistance, and backing Warne to the hilt from the off (he is after all a proven winner) represents the best opportunity for that.

I'm not saying that's actually your intention btw, just the way it may look to some of the people who were responding to you last night. Only you really know.

    Hi Kokosnuss,

Think you may have quoted the wrong poster here ?

Im guessing from the content of your post its Jourdan you're looking for...

I don't agree with the wholesale naming. If you want the evidence just find it yourself and keep it to yourself or comment on a particular point if you wish but we are not vigilantes. We are a broad church of Derby County fans with opinions that sometimes gel and sometimes conflict. It would be a very boring place if we all trotted out the same old line. If that's what you want go and try North Korea.

One person's meat is another person's poison, one person's ceiling is another person's floor. The person who never got anything wrong, never did anything.

I hope in future the mods quickly dismantle any walls of shame. We all have one thing in common - We're Derby 'til we die.

    Spot on ?

We're only 6 months off the back of the some of the most traumatic times any club has had to deal with & we sit here today, unbeaten since November, a genuine fan as owner & massive crowds following us home & away. Life is good.

Like all managers & styles of play, some will embrace it & some won't be as keen. We all want the best for Derby County & if Warne takes us to where we believe we belong, then brilliant. Its a shame that isnt enough for one or two vocal posters who also want the chance to bleat 'I told you so' & then call out others when their infantile rants are ignored. Clearly some inadequacies there if that's their focus rather than the club rising from the canvas & excitement for the future.

There were also some "the next Nigel Pearson" early on that I should have copied in.

    Ah, the witch-hunt continues ?

I suspect those of us who had doubts about Warne haven't got much to argue about given the team is going well & probably don't have the inclination to engage with Warne obsessives seeking to either belittle the previous manager's contribution to this squad, or desperately seek self-validation. You crack on lads, got better things to do with my time ?

P.s. Not in the slightest bit interested whether Warne was aware some Derby fans didn't want him. I absolutely stand by what I said about him back in September & whilst I acknowledge results have been good recently, I continue to have reservations about him long term & especially at a higher level - which lets face it, is where we want to be successful in coming years.

Doesn't mean that we can't enjoy the team doing well at the minute. Which is exactly what I'm planning on doing if that's OK with you & @Jourdan - many thanks in advance ?

If you look in the "personal world cup" thread, they are the team without Rams links who I most dislike. Very good draw in that they're struggling to stay up so have to prioritize the league. Except Moyes is also struggling to keep his job, so may feel he can't afford to lose to League One Derby or he'll be out.

Guaranteed on the box. Let's also sell out the ground. It's a free hit for us, which is perfect.

Moyes is a pragmatist at heart, he won't care about the FA Cup in relation to keeping them up & if that means changing half the team to keep them fresh for Prem games either side, then he'll do it. Source: my Hammers mate

Great draw. I either wanted winnable or glamorous & we've got both. 30k plus crowd, maybe on the telly too...nice one ?

    Afternoon all

    Happy New Year..

This has been discussed for a while. Those that have done all or even some of the away games this year should be able to relate to this. The atmosphere has not been good enough for the numbers that we taking. Bolton was the tipping block and there are many reasons behind it.

So for every away game with the club's backing we are going back to the dedicated singing block. Not the best terminology but the only wording that can officially be used. This was a great success around the 2017 era.

This is simply a block for those fans that are like minded and want to improve the atmosphere. Its not a block where the singing will only be (obviously) but important that point is made clear. Its also not a block where the only standing will be.

Don't read too much into it. The cringe comments will come, no doubt, but this is needed after a good evaluation this season. Like minded fans cannot get together due to the membership scheme. By the club facilitating this it means that fans who wish to be vocal all game can be together with like minded fans as they will know where to buy their tickets. Likewise, if you don't want to be part of that and just watch the game (like many do) it also gives you the opportunity to be away from this section.

The drum at away games where allowed will also be returning. Not everyone's cup of tea, I know, but let's be honest you can't please everyone in 2023 and is actually a massive help with tempo and volume in the stands. End of the day its about backing the lads vocally and giving them that extra % which is sometimes needed in a game.

This is already available for the next away game which is Port Vale. A good 4k going as well. Details on the block are on the dcfc website.

Club84 will be the catalysts behind this. Give them your backing. They have been great at displays over the last couple of years and improving the atmosphere away, and at home.

This is good news. Atmosphere seems to be a particular issue when we're taking more than 2k (Liverpool being the exception) & thought we were really ordinary at Bolton. Real mix of fans where I was sat in lower tier (elderly, families & lads who had clearly been on the pop all day) & songs were dying out quite quickly. I'm hopeful it will also encourage those who havent enjoyed sitting alongside Stone Island types, that they can avoid them at away games.

Songwise, yes its about time we retired the Collymore song...he's a nobody now & must be thrilled we still give him any attention. I do like 'Spirit in the Sky' although still not made it out of top left of South Stand...we are capable of originality but need like minded fans stood together to spread the gospel.

It'd also be great to never ever hear Dale Cavese again & that's my only concern with Club84 (having read their previous manifestos). I don't mind the concept of tifo displays but needs to be very careful to avoid the absolute cringefest that is Crystal Palace's 'Holmesdale End' or Middlesbrough's laughable 'ultras'. These tinpot clubs need that cribbed Euro-ultra songbook as they've got minimal history & weak support. We should be looking at how Man Utd, Liverpool etc have such great away support...original songs well communicated by fan groups, banners that reflect English football culture/humour & a well pitched sense of their history & who they are.

Plymouth Argyle on average of just over 13,000 home gates last season made a profit and have £6.8m cash in bank according to their financial report that was released in September 2022. But their players wage bill is very low compared with other clubs in League one.

Just read that, it was an EBITDA profit (i.e. before depreciation/amortisation) but still very impressive considering they finished with 80 points last season & look to be in the mix for auto promotion this season. Just goes to show money is not the dominant factor for success, its a long term plan. Given we average more than 10k than them, no reason why we can't be sustainable at this level.

    Really like the transparency of the financial reporting too - given their progressive outlook, I suspect they're going to be bothering Championship top 6 spots in next 2/3 years;

It often appears this way when a team is in transition. For example, when we went from Lampard to Cocu, the emphasis went on keeping possession. It manifested as keeping the ball at all costs, often looking like ponderous passing for the sake of it. It takes ages for players to adapt when they're used to playing one way.

It's the same issue but in reverse now - we've gone from Rosenior's way of playing out of trouble (often trouble created on purpose) and patient build-up play to high intensity, direct passing in behind and counter-attacking play. At the moment, it's not fine-tuned and it's very rushed.

I was against the appointment (and still am to some extent) for this very reason. It's not about one style of play being more effective than the other, but why we decided to rip it all up and go with a manager who plays a different style. And that's before you get into the fact that the academy sides have to adapt now too. If it's going to be a proper success, it will take time and it's remarkable that we're still hoovering up points while it's happening.

Mismatch of style v squad and effect on the Academy are exactly the reasons why I wasn't in favour of the appointment. I suspect the fine tuning is less to do with the system than it is with the players he has at his disposal - pressing & getting the ball into the box isn't a difficult concept, certainly not in relation to implementing a more progressive style of play. The reality is some of our players are not suited & until he gets the 'right' personnel in, we will remain in transition - I think the tempo will always be frenetic/rushed because of the style. I also have concerns about how effective that style is at a higher level given it is functional & easily replicated (I accept some wouldn't care so long as we get promoted soon) - any differentiation will be with quality of player which won't be cheap.

With regard to picking up points during the transitional period, these have mostly been against bottom 6 sides. League One has started to broadly evolve into a 3 tier league - big ex-Premier/Championship teams, well run smaller clubs on the rise & struggling small clubs hoping to hang on at this level. Our quality against that latter group has been able to bludgeon results so far - the question is whether that success can be replicated against sides further up the division as we won't finish top 6 without being able to beat some sides in the top half.

Cracking turnout & nice seeing the Leeds Rams flag from home fans view ? Better crowd than Wendies managed on a sunny Sat afternoon in August by the way...

Noise level was a bit ordinary however considering the numbers but first half performance was very flat indeed. Real lack of quality before the break, with the ball endlessly slung up the pitch in the general direction of Collins. Would accept conditions weren't ideal but the lack of control was worrying...we simply are not going to beat the better sides in the division by hitting aimless balls into the channel.

Second half was better both in terms of intensity (noticeable improvement in the press) & more composure with the ball...Hourihane in particular started to get on the ball more. Still struggled to create chances though & our best two efforts (other than Bolton CB hitting his own crossbar) were the Collins header & Knight free header late on. Felt both wide men struggled too & that we missed McGoldrick threading the play together in that final 3rd.

A point overall was fair. Bolton huffed & puffed a lot but were also unconvincing...a fantastic shift again from Forsyth, Cashin & Wildsmith ably assisted by our makeshift full backs.

P.s. nice to see Shinnie in the away crowd, rather less happy about the torrential rain & grim traffic out of Horwich

    Onto Cambridge ?

  10. Instinctively its not unreasonable to think we should be finishing top 6 given the quality in the squad. And picking up the playoff winners trophy from a sour Rick Parry in May would be a magnificent piece of football poetry.

To finish top 6, we need to be aiming around 74 points as a minimum - that is the average points tally of the 6th place team in League One over the past 10 seasons. Good news is we're currently on for 74/75 based on our current results & under Warne, his average per game is 1.67 which nets out to 77 over a full season. Problem is Warne's Derby have faced many of the lesser sides in the division - the average current position of Warne's league opponents is 15th (Rosenior's was 10th by the way)

In short, I think we need to start seeing more results against top 10 rivals before we can start confidently predicting top 6 - Rosenior managed 3 wins against them in his time here (Barnsley in 4th, Peterborough in 8th & Wycombe in 6th). Warne has yet to beat anyone outside of the bottom 6, with the exception of Bristol Rovers in 10th.

Today's game is a big marker then - beat Bolton on their patch & top 6 starts to look realistic as a minimum.

Same but given it's only the 14th am not panicking just yet ? If worst comes to the worst email the ticket office like a week before the game and you should be able to pick yours up from the stadium ?

Mine arrived here in Leeds last week, bought them 30th November just FYI. Suspect bit of a backlog given size of away allocation at Bolton but emailing ticket office not a bad call.

Superior? First half mostly, maybe. Can't think what he saw at all second half. I presume Sibs was injured because him going off made a big difference.

    A38 derby ??

Only got to see the second half so can only assume from Warne's assessment that we were superb first half, as we were poor second half.

In between Dobbin's horrible finish & a bit of injury time pressure, Burton dominated & will be disappointed not to have won on the basis of chances they created. We struggled to string 2 passes together & they looked much physically stronger & faster. As others have mentioned, we looked light in midfield & the obvious play was to put more numbers in there to grab back control & then punish them with some quality. Credit to Burton though, was really impressed with Kamwa on their left side & if they can keep that intensity going they'll escape trouble.
