It ends when the EFL say that they don’t believe Derby should have a point deduction because if they do say they are implementing a point deduction Derby county will take legal action, that can only be the logical reason this hasn’t happened yet

the EFL apparently agreed that they were aware of Derby change in amortisation policy and agreed to it happening and allowed it to happen for three years - most of that may well have been Shaun Harvey who has left but he was the EFL at that time.

It would be interesting to see if the EFL could defend itself in a legal setting.

This is the heart of the problem.  The EFL approach was that if this was compliant with accounting standards then they had no right to challenge. The DC never got to a stage where this was properly discussed given it is such a good defence it still seems odd that we didn't use it more forcefully.  However, we were showing a large P&S loss in breach over the top limit but it was brought in line by the sale of PP and this is where the focus went.  What didn't help was being found guilty of not being transparent with the accounting descriptions

By the time it got to DC2 via LAP there is a clear reference to the fact that the EFL do not sign off accounts and rely on the honesty of the clubs anything else would be' intolerable' for the EFL

DC2 having now arrived at a view that we were no longer compliant with P&S rules, based on Prof Pope's previously ignored evidence, and were fined for non compliance not for default

I think it was Mr Karran from EFL that was primarily involved?

Unfortunately was on a nightshift last night no time for a decent beer before the game today, was spoilt before Huddersfield game 3 pints of Falstaff silent assassin in babbington arms 5.2. lovely beer

Dont get back often but Ped was always my favourite, over the years it has diminished to a level where I avoid it.  Was back last weekend and went to the Holly Bush where they have it jugged, magnificent brought back memories of what it should be like.  More confused than ever as to what is happening with it.

I suspect the club needs to lodge the late payment with the EFL - And if they haven't then other clubs wouldn't get the thing put against them?

Also - If it's a Prem club there's probably nothing the EFL can do

However - Pretty harsh doing that to us if they know we've been patiently waiting on payments from other clubs

if that is the case we are more naive than I thought.  Perhaps we don't have the organisation in place to report transgressors

Their pre-tax losses, 2018-2020, was £93M. Those accounts have been published. Subtract Covid losses and other deductable allowances and they were well over the £39M limit that would have applied. Whilst that assessment period now takes in 20/21 as well, it's clear that Reading need a business plan now, not in 2 years time.

Perhaps the EFL are trying to get ahead of the game for once? Why indeed should Reading be allowed to try to escape punishment by getting promoted this season when it's clear they've grossly overspent?

If the EFL are serious about protecting clubs and having a level playing field (Parachute Payments aside), real-time assessment of club finances must be an imperative for them.

not suggesting for a second they should.  perhaps the summary contains a promise to inject capital?  By its nature a review is going to be retrospective.

One thing to note, according to the DET this morning:

"Both parties - the club and the EFL - are bound by the independent disciplinary commission and they cannot go public on the detail within the ongoing case."

That doesn't mean the whole thing isn't incredibly frustrating.

seems an odd statement, I thought the DC stuff had ended.  It was now up to the club to present restated accounts and the EFL to decide on any penalty based on the standard points per breach?

Not wanting to dredge up "that meeting" again, but I do wonder what the likes of @David and the other attendees of that meeting think of our situation now, having possibly heard certain answers from the club then, and now it appearing things are getting worse.

I don't think it is fair to try to put @Davidin a position where he is expected to give answers.  I think we should leave him out of this.  I guess there maybe stories to tell when this all blows over, whenever that will be

It's interesting that our charge under P&S currently listed is specific : non-submission of audited accounts, whilst theirs is general Breach of Profit and Sustainability Rules. I think this is a reasonable indicator that their breach isn't as simple as a failure to submit report(s), because surely that could be specifically defined, like ours?

From what I've read, I suspect that Reading have breached the allowable loss limits, even allowing for 19/20/21 Covid losses/agglomeration and whatever they turn in for 20/21/22 results isn't going to rectify it. But I doubt we'll know what the EFL are going to do about it for some time because I believe Reading's corporate structure is as tangled as ours, if not more so.

"As a result of these Financial Fair Play amendments, clubs will now report on a four-year period that covers 2017/18-2020/21 instead of three years 2017/18-2019/20."

"However, years three and four will be assessed together with the total Adjusted Earning Before Tax from both periods averaged into one reporting period."

  8. much as though I hate what the current management are doing to the club I can see why it may be difficult to provide an update to fans of a substantive nature.  I actually can't think of anything they are able to tell us that would make me feel less uncomfortable than I am already.  If you hold a different opinion as to what sort of detail you would like to know that you think they can currently tell us, please comment.  I really don't want any generic waffle about progress being made with EFL/Takeover, comments like that are just a waste of time.

Reading have the charge of breaching P&S rules on the EFL's embargo page. There's been no update as to how this charge is progressing, but at the moment they're under a 'soft' embargo with less restrictions than ours.

yep, the charge may only relate to reporting breaches though, there are quite a few requirements to meet.  I have said previously that I can see no monetary rule that they have breached now the EFL have extended the period.   I would think that EFL are very interested how they intend to manage the losses over 4 years but if they breach at the end of the period they will be subject to an aggravated charge if they have misled anyone.  We effed up a few years too early

No kids at the bar was a rule at our local.

But dogs of the owners at the bar lying down behind you while you carry pints back to the table is fine.

Dogs barking and growling at each other is fine to apparently.

It’s the groups of parents who each bring two kids to the pub and sit drinking while the kids run feral inside and outside the pub.  They’re normally the well to do type also.

    Belper????

The farce gets even worse. Trying to plan my day2 PCR test. I basically get back from Crete at 2am, then go to Butlins at about 10am, so ideally, I’d want the test waiting for me when i get home. So I enquired with TUI’s recommended supplier Screen4. They said they will post through my door and I don’t need to sign for it, BUT, they cannot deliver before I arrive! The earliest is the day I arrive! WTAF!!!

most airports have a drive through.

I had this very problem but didn't know about it until I realised the pack hadn't been delivered and I was travelling back the next day, what a panic
