Just another thing I picked up on.
MM said the 17/18 accounts show an FFP overspend of £4m and therefore a 4 point deduction.
Why not just submit them accounts and take that point deduction now.
If they want to also charge us for later years let them go ahead and go through due process again.
This time we would know to have an accountant/auditor as an expert witness.
There are rollover 3 year periods that he did not mention, one season does not breach P&S.

I don't have much of an idea about the clubs finances but is it a possibility that MSD were bankrolling MM/the club through loans etc.and said to MM they weren't prepared to carry on any longer or he was no longer unable to keep up with loan repayments so by cutting off a route to finance forced MM to appoint administrators. MM says he has put (was it £200M or something like that) into the club but he didn't say it was his money or someone elses raised through loans?. Just a technicality i know.
also from what we know he has not paid for the purchase of the stadium. Now it is possible that any subsequent funding of the club by Mel has been offset against that debt rather than by injecting capital. In other words the spouted £1.5m he has had to spend per month is actually a loan repayment reducing the debt he has to the club. With no up to date accounts we can't tell

Any chance the administrators could force the sale of the stadium at a lower price.
Throw in the training ground at a lower price.
That might help sell the club.
Err explain a bit more because the club don’t own either

He clearly has no regard for the manager or the players. That he couldn’t look them in the eye tells you everything you need to know about Melvyn Morris. He should never be let near the stadium again.
It’s his stadium

Maybe an internal promotion within the club. I asked the exact same question to my cousin last night. He said someone like Darren Wassall maybe. To keep the wages low, this would seem like a realistic way to go.
Hasn’t he gone already?

Quite - Being entirely binary about absolutely everything is a sad part of modern life. I had to unfollow a particular DCFC related author for this today. Painting Mel Morris as the anti-christ and constantly retweeting the master of arch guesswork and knowing F all, Kieran Maguire is enough for me to click that button.....
If this ultimately ends in liquidation and the end of the club will you still have fond memories of him?

Interestingly, Wayne has raised £21 million tonight by liquidating his image rights company. Is he accumulating funds to buy the club?
I agree, this is in play

Been waiting for rock bottom for months.
Rock bottom is the point where you cannot sink any further and the only way is up. It's the beginning of the rebirth.
If this is it, let's be reborn.
This is not the bottom, sorry

I'm with @RoyMac5 on this one. I don't think the EFL ever expected Mel to pull the plug and were enjoying keeping him squirming for as long as they possibly could, unable to sell us. As demonstrated by the threat in their statement earlier this week: "There are no timescales for this matter to be concluded and the League will not be providing any further comment at this time."
Yes of course fault lies with Mel too, but whatever he's done wrong, for good or ill he's had the best interests of the club at heart. And clearly today that's shown to be for ill. But I don't believe in recent years the EFL have had the club's best interests or football's best interests at heart.
Mel, Best interests? Well that turned out well. How can you possibly think that still. If this was a foreigner in the same situation I doubt anybody would say that.

If that's the case, it makes little sense in them negotiating with us at all.
My feeling is that they want to agree a penalty with us (i) because the outcome of the formal route is uncertain (ii) they thought MM would be keen in order to clear the decks for a sale and (iii) they have other clubs to charge, like Reading, and the Derby case is taking up too much time and resources to allow them to do that.
The statement about "no timescale" could easily be posturing to give the impression that they ain't fussed.
Or it is designed to stop press speculation

Am I right in thinking that all this transfer embargo rubbish is in place to just frustrate clubs, to stop them appealing and taking it to the courts with the EFL knowing/hoping the length of time appeals take and with an embargo in place most clubs will just bend over and accept the punishment?
no

If the EFL had a cast iron, watertight case they would slap us with a points deduction immediately and dare us to appeal it. They haven't done that, which could indicate that they aren't entirely sure.
On the other hand, if we were totally bang to rights and had a 0% chance of winning an appeal we would take whatever was on offer and just get this over with.
they want an agreement so this can be ended, partly, at least, it is a matter of interpretation of rules. Mel may be quite happy for an embargo to continue so that the stop to further costs is not down to him. Who knows, not one of us

It seems to me that the EFL are worried that we might win an appeal and therefore want to commit us to an agreed punishment. They state there is no timescale so presumably they are intending to draw this out until we are forced to agree to their proposals.
Hardly seems fair and begs the question “who regulates the regulator”.
I think they are worried we will appeal and it will dragged on to close to the end of the season with some uncertainty as to whether we will still be in the top 6 after a penalty. They don't want us to delay until we get promoted.
Joking apart, they do want to have this resolved as amicably as possible. If we felt so abused that we couldn't come to agreement and they forced a penalty it will be off to the High Court and all the uncertainty of whether it will be resolved early enough for next season not to be affected

well from the words spoken I would say that we haven't accepted the penalty, they want to get an agreement, issue the letter and get us to formally agree to its, then there is no appeal delay

I can't understand the affection for a guy who has handed us to admin where there is a possibility of liquidation. I am sure some want to build a statue of him in front of PP which he is about to rename Mel's Monument to Failure
