We were out footballed by a team fighting for their lives but didn't park the bus and kept passing the ball and outmanaged by Nathan Jones who is like an annoying ant but never stopped cajoling his team, driving them forwards, compare that with Warne who was barely visible. I know that this is part of supporting Derby, something I have been doing since 1967, but for the life of me I still don't understand last nights subs. Port vale will not be lying down on Saturday so I hope Paul and his mates have a plan......

Apologies in advance if this just sounds like a load of waffle.
My issue with Paul Warne is that I don’t feel like he’s getting the most out of what he has available. Yes, we have lost our target man but you adjust accordingly and change the style to suit what you have. He seems to have a certain way of playing with very little ability or willingness to tweak it.
He’s a nice enough bloke. I don’t like his interviews and try to avoid them as they often make me cringe.

I don’t think he has much ability for developing players, if anything it’s the opposite. How many players have been bit parts or seemed to have disappeared, for example Smith and Fornah etc. These are players he’s signed, if they don’t end up in and around the squad he’s basically wasted wages.
Yesterday was hard to watch when we were going toward. First half NML and Sibley were basically playing as wingers, out wide, expected to beat their man, try and cut inside and left with limited options. There was no runners from the midfield. Second half the only threat was Wilson from the right wing, who wasted multiple opportunities to play a ball into the box after doing the hard work.
We seem to have no ability to open team up with intricate passing. Everything is play it out wide and whip a cross in. With no height in the box, unless you play that ball across the floor likelihood is it will be cleared and us put back on the counter. I absolutely hate the fact that we can no longer pass a ball more than four times without losing it and 3 of those passes will be sideways or backwards.
The midfield was all wrong yesterday. Bird and Hourihane were guilty of far too many side and backward balls. It completely neutralises the attack. Get your head up and look for NML and Sibbs who should be waiting to be fed the ball and charge at the defence or hold it up for the midfield to catch up.

For me, now we have Adam’s covering the middle of the park we have no excuse to not use players like Thompson and Fornah ahead of him to drive the ball forward. Both are capable of carrying the ball and trying to find a forward pass.
If we try and play how we do when Collins is in the team then signing Gayle will have been a waste of time and money.
The Academy is another concern, Paul has no interest in seeing players feed through. Weston for example was bright when he had his chances, only to disappear back to the academy not to be seen again. Fapetu and Robinson as well looked like very good prospects.

I don’t feel like Paul’s using any of the resources he has available as well as he could, the style of play isn’t particularly interesting to watch, I won’t argue that we are in a good position for the final stretch of the season but also feel like this squad is capable of a far more exciting style of football and would definitely compete towards the top end of the league.

I did mot say “Warne Out”, although elsewhere in this thread I said I have journeyed back to that side of the argument.
What I, and many others actually want isn’t an endless string of 5 - 0 victories. All we want is for the team to turn up and play football to our strengths. Instead Warne sets us up to be like labourers doffing their caps to the landed gentry. Despite what it looks like after the vast majority of our matches we are better than this, and it is the opposition who should be worried about us and having to set up to best deal with our threat. To always send a team out with a predominance of defensive-minded players tells the opposition we are running scared.
We are capable of so much more, such as playing a good passing game. After the fans gave Warne a right bowlocking we went through a phase of keeping the ball on the ground and even using the misfield a bit more, which coincided with our good run. But that has cone to an end and we have reverted to aerial assault mode - and the run has come to an end. Funny hiw that works, and we’ve done it two seasons in a row.
And yet again we went ahead and then sat back, hardly laying a glove on them once we’d scored.
You are right to point out that our stats do look rather good, but with that absolute tosh we keep dishing up shouts from the rooftops just how bad this division is. We aren’t where we are because we are so good, just that we are not as bad as the rest of them.
Being second to everything in midfield is a case in point. So many times our clearance headers are deliberately headed up and forwards so the ball travels in an arc. Up and forwards takes a higher priority than controlling the ball and/or getting the ball to a team mate, like the opposition seem to manage almost every time. It us what led to the equaliser. Hourihane does it all the tome, not just with headers. The number of times his skill set consists of just looping thr ball up and forwards to nowhere near a team mate is ridiculous. And he can do it blind, as shown by the number of times he sends the ball backwards over his shoulder …… to no one. And so many times there is the opportunity to get the ball down and give it to a team mate. But no ….. up and over it is, and then back come the opposition.
And re not going to Wembley. It isn’t from not wanting us to get promoted. It is because having retired last August my income has more then halved. My wife’s childminding business was killed off by lockdown, and she has been stabbed in the back by the increase in the women’s pensionable age by a Government who care as much for the poor, sick and elderly as Warne does for attractive football. As such I cannot justify blowing a massive hole in my budget to watch the team throw away yet another opportunity to get promoted. I don’t have the money to gamble on the remote chance we might fluke a win.
It doesn’t mean I don’t want promotion - I’ve been a Ram since the early 1970’s, so I’ve seen some rubbish in that time. But I have never been so angry  as I am now.

There’s a group of 6 of us that have season tickets and 4 of them are waiting towards the end of April to see whether there is the likelihood of championship football next season as they have had enough of being bored most home games. I have a feeling alot more people will feel the same. It’s the time of season when it’s a results business but crap football week in week out is only acceptable if you’re winning

You are solely looking at the results angle & everything about Paul Warne is pure short term focus leaving little else to justify his tenure here. What you're overlooking is his long term unsuitability & that also has to be factored into conversations about whether he stays or not. The quality of football is poor & a sizeable section of the fanbase do not enjoy watching it (with potential knock on effect for future PP crowd numbers), he doesn't particularly improve players, there is a misalignment with Academy pathway (refusing to even use EFL Trophy matches to give youngsters game time) & preferred transfer strategy in order for the club to achieve sustainability. Warne wants the likes of Sonny Bradley & Conor Washington to secure his promotion (and Michael Smith given half a chance)...the club will struggle to be sustainable with these types of signings. We brought in Mark Thomas last year to identify cheap, develop & sell high...Warne is not suited to this model.
Clowes appointed Warne to get us a quick promotion & that was the expectation of everyone when he was appointed (and why Rosenior was let go). To take your most extreme hypothetical scenario, as the pure remit for Warne being here is a short term focus of promotion, then defeat at Wembley would still be complete failure with no guarantee of promotion the next year & need to continue down the highly paid experienced pro with no resale value route that Warne prefers. I suspect Clowes will be considering how much longer he can tolerate that misalignment with the long term DCFC strategy come May should we faill to go up.

Because if our knuckleheads do decide to boo, then the rest of us who are pleased for someone getting a promotion and pay rise, who didn't walk away like others in administration , is one of our own and is going to a club that believes in using the midfield to pass each other, unlike our current manager, should cheer him even louder , good luck Max, I hope you get the chance to shine

It's not Brown's technical or physcial abilities which are stopping him from being L1 ready. The groundwork should have been laid for him months ago, which could have been the difference between him being ready to step up to start the odd game for us in the league now.
Waghorn and Washington have both been out since October and there was a 4 week gap between John-Jules making his first appearance since September. We sort of did... he got 45 minutes playing with Collins in the Wolves U21 game when he would have been better paired with a creative player - even Weston, Allen or Wheeldon would have been a better choice (instead of Collins) to see what he was actually capable of. He then got 15 minutes as a late sub (again paired with Collins) against Northampton and only 1 minute since - he didn't even get a run out in the other EFL Trophy games since then. That was the 3-0 win over Fleetwood and the dysmal dispaly against Bradford.
If he was given more game time to ease him into life as a Derby first team player, we would have been able to make a fairer judgement on if he's capable of playing a few games for us this month or not. It's not as if John-Jules has done much of note since his last goal (he played in 10 games since)

I’m loathed to say anything as my lad has told me a few things he’s heard Max say, more so Sibbo. The pair of them were very proud to come through our academy, they are professionals and want the best career’s possible. One day many might hear a story, a younger Max wasn’t that complimentary about Cocu at one point “allegedly” I’ve heard, but he’s always sought to improve his game and why shouldn’t he want new challenges, maybe better money etc.
Some comments are so savage, like we’re entitled to own careers or gain promotions. The same kind of comments that wrote off Morgan Whittaker and said good riddance etc; yet it was clear he was still developing and now look. Just maybe Max needs to move to develop his game more too; after all plenty day he’s not suited to Warne’s style, similar to Hourihane, can’t play together you name it.
Why can’t people be happy we’ve developed a young lads career, enjoy what he gave and wish him well; more so if we made what the club feel is decent money!

Just back from the game and my observations, this was not the Lincoln side that came to pride park, they had players back from injury and were benefitting from the now settled in managers homework on us and his game plan. It will probably prove to be a hard earned point at the end of the season. At the end, their fans, who I thought created a great atmosphere with their non stop singing akin to the ultras, would be happier with the signs of improvement than ours with our frustrations. Finally, best pre match food court offering of the season so far, slightly better than the dancing cod at Fleetwood. On to Reading, tennis racket in hand

I am 100% in agreement with your thoughts on Sibley . As for last night - because of the small turnout , you could hear any loud comments coming from the East stand . I was shocked how many fans were shouting instructions to 30 year old pros as if they were at their 8 year old sons school game .

If he decides to go, well good luck to him, he's been a joy watch over the years and he may just want to be coached by a forward thinking, progressive coach to help him improve even more, because he certainly wouldn't be getting that here. In most jobs,if the opportunity comes to move up the greasy pole then it's generally taken, why on earth should Max bird be any different. Good luck Max
