We got caught a few times with Nelson trying to run the ball out of defence and losing it. This led to the free kick they scored from. Nelson also got caught bringing the ball down a few times by Moore. Just thought he had more time on the ball than he had (or was given). I think we tried to play in the right manner (not hoof it) but Sheffield squeezed the life out of any space we tried to create. They were quicker and stronger to the second ball so our ball retention (2nd half) was really poor. We just couldn’t get our heads up. I guess the strength of an Ozoh may have allowed him to get his head up and find a pass because sometimes there were three Sheffield players on one of ours so others must have been in space but couldn’t be found. It made for a frustrating second half because we just couldn’t t mount any kind of challenge

We talk about little percentages.

The time when Nelson lost is in the first half and Moore took it off him, was firstly down to a shocking throw in from Nyambe which was high and loopy and bounced a yard in front of Nelson. So the point he was controlling the ball, which he did awfully, was with the ball one metre up.

Top players when throwing the ball to an unmarked player further away do it with a flat projectory so it eliminates the bounce. This means the receiving players first touch is not only to control it but also pushing it in the direction he wants.

Sometimes our throws in are atrocious.

DERBY COUNTY WERE AT A HUGE DISADVANTAGE TODAY

Sheffield United were relegated at the end of last season so for four years they will receive £40,000,000 a year minimum from the Premiership. So they have been able to afford to keep some of their stars and can also afford to sign on new ones from other clubs.

Derby on the other hand now have as an owner David Clowes who wisely is determined his club should not get into debt again. The only reason we have had a bit to spend this year is that we have received some £3,000,000 after selling some good players years ago and having a clause in their contract saying we we would be entitled to a percentage of their resale price. Those resales happened during the last close season.

But that money is peanuts compared with the cash now available to Sheffield United! So in fact our manager has done an amazing job to put together a team that can compete in the Championship with so little money at his disposal. Even today we were only beaten by one amazing strike by one of their stars.

So we should be congratulating our Manager not criticising him as some have been doing on here tonight!

We didn’t have a single shot on goal all game today which tends to lead to people being a bit frustrated with the manager and his tactics.

Good day out & whilst disappointed with the result, can hardly be too down about it. Kiefer Moore/Hamer/O'Hare would absolutely walk into our team & most of Champ...we gave them a good game (particularly first half) & their winner was from a free kick that clearly wasnt a foul as their lad dived. Dreadful ref btw

Thought we created little second half in response but always tried to play (Yates on throughour) & loved the fight all game esp from Ebou. We are where we are..onto Norwich  up the Rams 💪🖤

It is not the managers tactics its our lack of a strike force. We were not able to compete for the few decent strikers available so it's the Jan window to scrap fir the few gems up for grabs.lts not rocket science we cannot compete with the wealthy clubs unless new investment is secured it's simple business.

Under the circumstances we are doing OK.

A decent first half showing, second half was tough, but we never gave in, Adams was everywhere putting challenges in, and never stopped all game, my motm today, we lost to a great strike, gave them very little, for me we are no pushovers and will stay up no probs , onto Norwich now, lets get 4 home wins on the bounce and back the team from start to finish, home form will be so important this season. Once A Ram Always A Ram.

I have seen DCFC make good solid solid starts before then flounder. We will need to get something next week, to get our heads up again.

Losing to a lower prem squad is no disgrace, what is irritating is they were not that great, despite all the money spent.

Wilder is rapidly becoming the manager everyone hates, even his home crowd, who were very agitated by their lack of game control against a side just promoted from L1.

PP is a fortress at the moment, the crowd has a big part in that, so lets lift these tired legs next week on to victory.
