DE56Ram Posted July 30 Share Posted July 30 I guess we’ll play whatever formation suits the personnel we have in the building this week and next. . . we will need to bed-in new recruits depending on individual fitness and data as they arrive. I’m hoping that we get the core of new signings in before we kick off the season in earnest. Don’t want to be unable to play ‘how we want’ for too long, we saw last season how far behind that slow start put us. We were always playing catch-up! Two holding midfielders and attack on the break. To do this we would need 3 quick forwards . NML could be one + 2 others . McLaren , Rosenior and Cocu loved the possession game . Warne likes to break fast, that’s why he is trying to sign athletic players as he calls them. Problem is we often try to do both high press and also sit back and break, which seems to lead to a bit of confusion and leave big gaps in midfield. Warne said a few times he'd rather friendlies be played behind closed doors. For this very reason I guess, all the speculation and panic when really its just about getting them match fit.
