How many times have you heard fans moaning about players performance, attitude, work rate...etc....then you hear fans say "we need a manager to sort this lot out"....then when we get a manager that has questioned at least 3...fans go the opposite way. Ill never understand our fan base. Well done Wayne Rooney for calling out Holmes...Well done Wayne Rooney for for saying Waghorn's attitude in training was unacceptable. Well Done Wayne Rooney for saying he wants more from Sibley. He was the best in this country...he wants the best given to Derby County. Long may he reign.

Yes, we want the Manager to sort problems out, but in the correct, professional way, not slate them in public, just not the way to do things...

This! 20/30k a week to put in half arsed performances is not good enough, regardless of if you’re leaving at the end of the season or not we’re paying your wages now so put some effort in at least!

Waghorn's supposedly on less than £10k. Bielik, Wisdom, Davies, Marriott, Malone and Lawrence apparently the only players left over £15k.

Back to Waghorn, Rooney praised his effort in training and Thursday, only for his "attitude" in training on Friday to deserve being dropped ?

Im pleased about it. Nowhere to hide for anybody with Rooney about. Why shouldnt the fans know who isnt pulling their weight everyday for Derby County. He has took over a side that was 6 points from safety. A real tough job. Hes got our heads above water. Hes fighting for us.

I’m not going to repeat all the previous post questioning whether a manager should or should not be airing his individual performance management issue in public.

Don't know definitively but would be surprised if Waghorn was on less than 10k a week. He signed for 5m under Lampard when we had our last spending splurge & Waghorn had just come off a big season at Ipswich. He was 28 at the time so presumably his agent would've been looking for a big contracf in his 'prime'.

Also would seem bit odd for Marriott to be on substanially more given he signed from a League One club for a lower fee.

Whos he slated? Didnt slate Sibley and didnt say anything in public that he never said to him first. On Waghorn...Rooney has said if you do well in training you have a chance of playing. Hes said that from day 1. Wasnt happy with Waghorn's training on Friday so wasnt in the squad. Wheres the drama?

I'd double that with a bob or 2 on top, You're pretty much spot on with the £5m price tag and agent comment, Players who are coming out of contracts in all EFL divisions are going to have a seismic change in what they are going to have to accept in their monthly wage packets if they are lucky enough to be offered a contract elsewhere.

Even at 10k a week he’s earning more in a month than most in the country in a year, none of us would get away with not performing in our jobs or having a bad attitude so why should footballers be so privileged to do so? It’s about time players get called out.

waghorn has gone from rooneys undropable mate to dropped ex mate,he's no great loss,he could be more harm to the squad with a bad attitude than benefit on the pitch.it may be that he has got himself an offer(unlikely),so season over for him.if this can't be repaired over the break, release him,let him go,poor quality player, work horse at best

Lots of cheap houses and second-hand Range Rovers in Repton soon then?

Every cloud.?

We will have to agree to disagree then, he has come out with comments publicly regarding a number of players that he didn't need to. To take the discussion a bit further, if Wazza was asked if he is happy with his backroom staff and he said 'actually no, I want to bring my own team in next season' and was asked how he felt Mel had dealt with the take over saga and he says 'well actually it's been a total disaster, Mel hasn't done his job properly at all' do you think that would be helpful? If it is all about honesty and transparency and keeping the fans informed and all that......

Signed for Rangers in the second division when their wage bill was £9.3m. They had a squad size of 30 players, he wasn't considered a 'key player' so £6k pw would be a reasonable guess when he was up there. Then moved to Ipswich.. do you think they were paying out a lot on wages? I don't. I don't think his agent would have pushed for much more than £10k... £15k at the absolute max.

MacAnthony stated Marriott's wages jumped up to £18-19k. Hard to disagree.

...this proves is exactly the problem with Rooney's comments.

When over the past few years has Waghorn had anything other than praise for his attitude from managers? Is there a history of people expressing their concern about his attitude & character from watching interviews with him, from watching him on the pitch?

No, the worst people have really got is he made a couple of reckless tackles he got himself sent off for - they were pretty brainless but even then they were born out of him being too eager / enthusiastic, not petulance like you'd see from Lawrence for example, or dragging players to the floor because he's too lazy to chase after them.

Even last Thursday/Friday Rooney praises his attitude. There's nothing to be concerned about other than his form on the pitch.

One bad day, one argument / falling out / disagreement / whatever later (that we don't even know the details about) , one comment from Rooney and and suddenly despite YEARS of evidence to the contrary he's got a bad attitude, he's a troublemaker, it's damaging to have him around the squad etc.

Absolute ducking poo, his entire character stained by one (massively hypocritical) comment from Rooney, used an excuse for people who don't rate him as a player to line up and spew their bile.

A player's reputation potentially ruined because some people can't get their tongues out of Rooney's arse, lovely stuff.

That's a fair guess for his Rangers wage based on those figures. Ipswich's wage bill in 2017/18 was £19m (for context ours under Rowett that season was £40m) & given Waghorn played most games in that season, imagine he was seen as a key player & hence earning between £10k & £15k a week. Mean average point for a 30 player squad on £19m would be around £12k a week - obviously there are coaching team & non-playing staff wages which I've not factored in there though.

His move to Derby was a big transfer fee & given his age, certain that his agent will have pushed for a upgrade on that knowing he would this would be his peak contract (as he'd be 31.5 when it expired). Therefore, I personally think its closer to £20k a week.

We also completed the signing of Waghorn two weeks after Marriott so if MacAnthony revealed that information re Marriott's wages around the time of transfer, sure Waghorn's agent would have picked up on that also.

Im interested in which other players Rooney has commented publicly on? Its only Sibley and Waghorn isnt it?
