I dont know what we do now, nor it is my place to come up with policy.

Now on to the issue, can we please have the evidence that children are going to go hungry and also how we got in this position having increase universal credit by £1,040 per year?

There is no point in tackling a problem if we dont know that it actually exists and we dont know how to fix it long term.

I'm sure with all the campaign that are springing up around the country, no child will be going hungry in these school holidays.

The question asked was Do we spend money to feed children, so they don't go hungry

The answer is a simple, Yes or No.

I couldn’t care less what you do with your time.

Nor do I personally have any interest in what you do contribute or don’t contribute.

You keep on asking for the evidence and have so many questions?

Why don’t you go down to a food bank and ask them?

Because it's not my job to do that?

Yes.

So will all households in England be receiving food vouchers through the door next week?

Why should I spend my money on food and go without luxuries if other families dont have to?

While we are at, I dont particularly want to have to buy my kids a new wardrobe of winter clothes, I think the Government should fund that too, or are they happy to see kids freezing?

You ask the question

“Now on to the issue, can we please have the evidence that children are going to go hungry and also how we got in this position having increase universal credit by £1,040 per year?”

Yet when you have the chance to see the evidence first hand, to ask the questions first hand and to get the answers, you don’t want to, it’s not your job to do that.

Why do you even ask for the evidence if your not interested in the evidence?

So you think if you go and stand at a food bank and ask someone what they are spending their money on they would say Sky tv, mobile phone, cigarettes and alcohol etc?

You really are naive.

I am interested in the evidence if you have it though?

I'm sure you must if you are calling on the Government to dish out funds?

I think it’s far more naive to think they are all spending it on sky tv, mobile phones, cigarettes and alcohol.

But hey let’s tar them all with that brush rather than actually finding out the truth.

Maybe you would be surprised by some of the answers, you will never know though until you ask.

You asked for evidence of children who were going without food. I told you where you could find it.

Also for what it’s worth I have never asked for the government to dish out more funds, I don’t care where the money comes from or who is doing the feeding, just as long as the children are eating.

Yeah same here but I would much rather it was paid for out of the funds that the Government have already provided for this purpose, rather than them (and ultimately the taxpayer) paying for it again.

Just out of interest, and not a dig or anything before you take it that way, what will you personally be doing to help?

Nobody has yet explained why this is a problem this year but hasnt been in previous years.

did you type this with a straight face? Good old 2020, nothing unusual about it at all.

Like I say, if minimum wage and universal credit are not sufficient to feed families then these areas should be addressed immediately.

I'm loving the #accidentalsocialism what you've done there.

Finally agree

Let's increase the minimum wage and reform the welfare state so that no one has to go hungry

I would imagine, and this may be making sweeping assumptions here, that most of the families who cannot 'afford to feed their kids' are on benefits.

As previously mentioned, universal credit has increased, and as far as I am aware most people were locked in their houses for 4 months with nothing to spend their money on.

Obviously there will be some that have seen their financial circumstances take a turn for the worse but most people I know were saying how much they had saved during lockdown.

If that is truly the problem behind people not being able to afford food then I am 100% behind reforming it. Personally, I don't believe it is though.

Local Charities are normally way better at spending money wisely, I would rather donate to them over giving more money to the government any day of the week. I wouldn’t be able to do that if I get taxed more though.

In terms of what do I do to help in relation to the food issue, not a lot truth be told, we donate our club card points every month, but some months that doesn’t amount to much more than a tenner. If we do a shop rather than have a delivery we normally put a pack of weetabix etc in the collection box.

I think a lot of people feel like that, but actually a lot of charities are a failing of government.

I don't have an issue with niche charities but why do we have to rely on charities to feed people, to home people (armed forces veterans at that!), look after children and to provide medical care for people? These should be basic human rights

Every penny that we give to these charities from our own pocket has the government laughing ever louder up its sleeve.

I don’t believe we do rely solely on charities to feed people or provide medical care etc. We rely on them to supplement the services already provided.

I’m not into the idea that by giving to charity we are somehow accepting of social injustice.

Sure the government has to improve and look at spending more wisely in many areas. We should very definitely hold our government to account especially when thy spend vast swathes on very stupid things.

We have a need in society for both charity and government, they supplement each other. Sometimes negatively but overall I would suggest positively.
